I am completely new to hair styling and salons in general because I just recently started transitioning and never have I felt more welcomed and appreciated than I have here. Not only was my preferred identity respected but it was so naturally integrated into every aspect of my appointment that it was just like seeing an old friend again. Jenn was my stylist this visit and she was absolutely amazing. I told her the idea I had and my goals for my future looks and it was like she could perfectly read my mind! She was very careful and an excellent listener and made sure every last detail was exactly to my liking. I got a wolf cut (I had very long hair previously) and all of the extra fancy shampoo, scalp massage, and hot towel add-ons, and it was absolutely 100% worth every penny. She is truly a master at her craft and I wish I could give her and everyone else there so much more for their hard work. Not to mention how very personable and fun she is to talk to, seriously such a shining example of a wonderful human being. There were also some added benefits and nice little details: free drinks both alcoholic and non were offered, YMMV but they had my go-to there which was a wonderful bonus. The whole place was super clean and smelled great and even the restroom was immaculate, which is often neglected in many businesses.

All in all I cannot possibly recommend this place enough, truly a full 5/5 experience, and dare I say it may have forever changed my life for the better (my confidence is through the roof! (: ). And although I'm new to the salon scene, I had a friend tell me that their prices are very reasonable for the quality of work too. Including tip I paid around $116 for easily the best hair care experience of my life, all addons included.

It's always been extremely hard for me to find a truly good barber or stylist. When I did find one that was technically good, a lot of the time there were still things I had to tolerate in return like being upcharged, feeling rushed like you're just a number, an uncomfortable vibe in the place, that they're not really listening to you or just simply that they don't get what you're going for. Formation Hair is finally a place without those compromises. Jessi was everything I've been looking for in a great stylist and gave me probably the best haircut experience I've ever had. From the progressive, inclusive, everyone is welcome atmosphere, to the hospitality of drinks while you wait, it has a relaxed and friendly feel. Jessi took minutes, not seconds, minutes before she even started, to understand my hair, things I've run into in the past and wanted to do differently and the cut/style I wanted. She thought it would benefit my hair to have a shampoo first and told me about some good products but never tried to sell me anything or charge me extra for the shampoo. Throughout she was attentive, thorough, knowledgeable and gracious but wasn't afraid to give her opinion when she knew I needed some wisdom. I'm blind without glasses which hasn't done me any favors in the haircut arena because by the time I really see it, it's basically already done. But Jessi stopped periodically at every stage of the cut to show me what she had done so far and make sure everything was the way I wanted it - and I have a feeling she would have done that anyway, glasses or not. Long story less long, she was amazing, Formation Hair are good people giving great cuts. Can't recommend enough. Try them once and...

First time client.. and I'm delighted with this salon! From the moment I stepped in, I was warmly welcomed and treated with courtesy and care for my specific wants and needs. Great initial experience while booking an appointment. Kudos to Jessie for that! The appointment itself was FABULOUS. Again, very nicely welcomed, this time by Jayla. She was my stylist for the day and was genuinely lovely to spend time with. I opted to get the Biotin treatment and OH BABY my hair is so shiny and happy. This treatment came with an amazing scalp massage and hot towel facial wrap... and it melted away soooo much stress that I could have fallen asleep right there!! DEFINITELY do this step if ever you are able. I'm going to, for sure. Jayla heard what I talked about regarding my hair, and did an excellent job in cutting volume and style into my baby-fine and chemically damaged hair disaster. Once again, I have movement and healthy looking locks!! YAY! My friends will be so glad NOT to see me wearing my Hat From Hell to hide my hair now! I am a happy happy customer who will be returning to this great business in future times.
