I will start with the fact that the only thing I found pleasant about this hotel was the staff. The lady at the front desk and the man when we checked out were very nice and very attentive. The rest of this experience was not so grand. On to the room - we were greeted with very stale acrid air in the room that didn't really dissipate, but as long as you stayed in the room you got used to it. The hotel seems altogether outdated, so I guess that's to be expected without copious amounts of room freshener. The entire floor had a slight stickiness to it that was more noticeable in the bathroom, and even more noticeable after a shower when that stickiness became a slick stickiness. The long dark hair left by another guest in the shower and on the walls in the bathroom was a little offsetting. Beds are uncomfortable but clean. I took my dog out back to go to the bathroom, and it doesn't seem like they take a lot of pride in their property either. There was trash strewn everywhere on the grass and in the parking lot, and around their little shed out back it almost looks like a homeless camp. The worst thing about this hotel was the noise, as much as the staff cannot control other guests making noise, there is little to no insulation in the walls and ceiling to muffle it. Around 9 pm doors started slamming and people talking very loud in the hallway, and whoever had the room above us sounded like they were body slamming the floors just about the entire night. The noise was off and on ALL night, but it was VERY loud from 9 pm - midnight. At 5 am, I finally had enough of being woken up by the noises above and beside us and we checked out early and hit the road for home. This is definitely not a hotel I would...
Read moreFirst, for the positives: our room was near spotless, and the general atmosphere of the building was great.
Now for the reason why I'm even posting this review: the manager on the night we stayed was nice at first (6/24/24), but she was very short when I checked in- fine, it was whatever. We soon went to the pool, in which a woman and seven kids were in there, and the kids were jumping in and screaming, taking up any room for sharing. This woman kindly informed me that they will leave in 45 minutes, but slipping and admitting that she wasn't staying here, but worked here rather than being a guest. She initially offered to allow us to stay in the pool room if the kids lined up against the wall and waited for us, which came off as her guilting us into letting them occupy the room.
We left and returned almost 90 minutes later, discovering that another family member was keeping lookout and the father was in the bar. The person on lookout slipped and said that she was related to the manager.
We addressed it with the manager, who lied and stated that they were guests, but later admitted that she let them play in the pool when we explain what the lady on lookout said. She then had the family exit, but let them stare into the window of the pool room, pulling incessantly at the door as if to try to get us to leave until they eventually gave up: meanwhile, the manager let them hover over the room, as well as give us uncomfortable looks.
I understand that people come from different walks of life and that we all have our own struggles and shortcuts to enjoy ourselves, given how expensive life is. In this case however, it was unacceptable and very unprofessional of...
Read moreTraveling thru alone with fiance's truck& trailer from North Dakota to my home in Oklahoma. Snowstorm...ended up near Belle Fourche.....what a blessing! I found Kristen at the front desk to be warm & delightful. She was the ultimate standard in excellence in hospitality. My king room was clean & the bed was comfortable. This hotel was remodeled & sparkling! As a previous cleaning biz owner in Tulsa, OK, with high end clientele-I notice the crevices. It was sooooo nice to see this hotel was immaculate. I am new to trying the Choice brands. Formerly I would only stay at Hilton's & Hampton's for 30+years traveling on business & trips with family. One night changed all the former when they were booked up & I ran in to storms in Kansas moving to ND.Found a nice Comfort Suites in Garden City, KS, with excellent staff & pet friendly for my show Labs: Grace & Maggie. Signed up on the Choice Rewards program. I love to save money as a business owner. I have been pleasantly surprized to find great stays at more affordable pricing with Econolodges in Belle Fourche, SD, & in Rapid City, SD. Now I look to stay at the Choice Hotel facilities! The breakfast was good & the pool was sparkling and refreshing. Hats off! to the remodel at Belle Fourche, SD, Econolodge!. Great job!! After my wedding in Cozumel last week....Kristen- we are headed back to visit family in Spearfish...staying with your hotel in Belle Fourche this weekend. Thank you for making me feel welcome & like staying with family. See u this weekend with my new husband! I am picky! I highly recommend you and your family stay here whenever you are...
