UPDATE: So the manager responded to my trip advisor review. And said I booked the smoking room. I did not. I booked a room via Hotwire where the only option was hotel chooses your room. Had I known they allowed smoking inside though, I would have booked a different hotel.
She also offered an underhanded apology for the lack of cleanliness in the room, saying the hairs just didn't come out when the sheets were laundered... so, you don't wash your sheets well?
No apology though for the absolute lack of service or the fact that I had to address all the problems myself. I would have responded to her comment on trip advisor but that did not seem to be an option.
Do not stay here unless you have no other choice. Other reviewers have also said they didn't think the bedsheets had been changed from a previous guest.
Original post So my stay at this disaster they bill as a 2.5 star hotel has just begun. I am returning from attending my cousins funeral. All in all over the past three days I have been on the road for nearly 30 hours.
I chose this hotel because it was pretty highly rated by reviewers, and I just need d a clean place to sleep before driving the rest of the way to Philadelphia.
Alas, my dreams of a clean room were just dreams. . First, although I hadn't seen anything on Hotwire or the hotel mobile website about them allowing smoking inside, they did and they stuck me in a smoking room. And anyone who has made we had the misfortune of staying in a smoking room knows how horrible the odor. Not even ozone or the fancy all natural spray that works like ozone can take away that smell. But I figure, I'll tough it out. I've been known to smoke, although I do not smoke inside houses or rooms because it's gross.
Then, being exhausted from a trip that began early this morning, I start getting ready for bed only to discover that it did not seem that housekeeping had changed any of the bedsheets. I found hairs on pillows on both beds (took picture evidence) and also one of the decorative throw pillows had a disgusting spit stain on it (also took picture).
So I go down and ask if I can be moved or get new bed sheets. Unfortunately it seems they are all booked up. So the front desk lady just gives me sheets and pillow cases so I can go change the sheets on the bed myself. She didn't offer anything else, except to talk to the manager about it. So then I, who am beyond irritated and tired, have to ask for gloves since it appears I have to change the sheets myself.
I will say it wasn't the front desk lady's fault the room wasn't clean. Nor was it her fault that it appears upper management is too cheap to have a housekeeper on for night duty. However, she did not really offer any help other than to give me gloves and sheets. I was expected to just take care of it myself. I paid to stay in a clean room which essentially means I am contributing to this lady's earnings while she just sits behind the desk and also the house keepers', who were apparently too lazy to actually clean this room or at the very least put new bedsheets on even one of the beds. earnings. But they didn't have to do anything.
I will be contacting the manager because I will be requesting a refund. I shouldn't have to do the employees work when I pay...
Read moreThe gentleman at the front desk on Saturday March 29, 2025 was very helpful and just a great man. The location was sort of dreary and bleak visually, but awesome as far as actual convenience, close to the highway and local stores and food. The room was clean, and had all you'd expect or need it to have. That said, it didn't feel like a getaway room with for me and my girl even with the king sized bed. The room didn't feel romantic at all, and had a hospital room vibe to it. The cold hard floors and setup was 100% geared to simple and functional purposes. It was fairly expensive and not cozy at all. If you just stay in bed (and we did 80% of the time) it's okay. But everything else was like being a patient in the hospital. No carpet, no effort on ambiance or physical comfort at all. So if it's just a room to sleep in, it's okay. If it's a getaway place, I wouldn't stay there again. The hotel entrance and elevator all made it so promising when we arrives. But if I went in with a wheelchair, I'd swear it was a typical hospital room. Even the bathroom was cold, hard, steel bars everywhere, just no romance or home feel to it. Luckily my fiance is so cute she saved that part all by herself. But for the money spent, I let her down and it bothers me. Even the furniture screamed cold, hard, hospital room made for easy cleaning and nothing more. The worst part... my girl is a DV survivor, and people are loud there all hours of the night with nobody stopping them. So from 12am till morning, others seem to slam their room doors every 15minutes (or more frequent) for hours all night. Everytime that bang slam noise happens, she jumps out of the bed and is instantly awoken in fear. She quickly calms down (in a minute or less) but when it happens over... she didn't sleep much at all. Next time I will requested a more isolated and quite room for sure. I'm just sad it all happened ad it did and I can't undo it. The guests were more of a problem than the hotel. The rooms were very cold and hard, not cozy at all. My girl saved the trip, I love her for that and so much more. But the hotel is best for work stays, or families that just need a room to sleep in at night. If you're planning a getaway with your husband or wife, I wouldn't stay here. We are 47, and 51 years old, so maybe a younger couple wouldn't care at all? But I didn't like it for my purpose. Staff friendly, parking was great, rooms clean too, but it's not a cozy place for couples at all. And honestly I'd stay anywhere with my girl, even here again. But it will be very low on my list of considerations for our next trip in April. You should never have to contemplate having an argument or worse with your neighbors at 3am because nobody else quiets them down. Signs are everywhere telling them to be quiet after 11pm, but nobody seemed to care at all. Her jolting awake every few minutes... 💔 broke my heart. Free breakfast that we didn't even look at. Room minifridge, microwave, safe, phone, TV, wi/fi, couch, and some desks. Very business like and zero...
Read moreThe Best Western Garden Inn was conveniently located just off the highway, with signs on the highway to ensure that it was easy to find. However, road work in the area made it a bit difficult to access. There was plenty of space to park, and multiple entrances/exits requiring key cards to access which made moving our luggage in and out easy while still maintaining the safe environment guests expect. The lobby was clean and the staff was friendly and inviting. They seemed eager to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The room was clean and well arranged for enough space to let our family of 5 be comfortable. Ample bedding, towels, and convenient accomodations like the mini fridge, microwave, and coffee pot made the room homey. There were some issues though, such as marks on the walls near the floor, which appear to be from years of guests scraping the walls with their suitcases, and it looked like the AC unit may have leaked at one point. The bathroom design could also use an update. The door opened into the bathroom, and barely cleared the toilet. For anyone with a young child, elderly family member, or disabled family member who may need assistance in the restroom, it would be a tight squeeze, and would be difficult to help them. For us, it was not an issue, but it could be inconvenient for some families. We missed breakfast this time, so I can't comment much on that, but we did go for coffee, and the little dining area was neat and clean and the coffee station well organized. So, with that said, the Best Western Garden Inn could use a few little repairs, touch-ups, and updates, but offered friendly staff and a clean, comfortable place to rest our heads...
