This motel is a great place to stay on the way to Mammoth. Our family of 4, including two young boys, all agreed this place was 5 stars! It exceeded our expectations in every way. After our stay, I did a double-take on the reviews and, honestly, most reviews were either 6-8 years old or the reviewer had unreasonable expectations. The management is SUPER friendly and supportive. A gentleman named Rahul welcomed us, checked us in quickly, and even personally delivered some supplies we needed, turning down our offer for a tip. Whenever we passed by someone from the office or a member of the cleaning staff, we were greeted with a smile. In terms of our room, though I would recommend wood floors over the carpet they had, it was clean, tidy, and spacious. The view of Mt. Whitney is incredible - it's nice walking through the town with the snow-capped mountains in the backdrop - and we were there in the summer! The town is charming and positive, with everything being within walking distance from the motel. The cost is fair, given the demand in the area. There aren't too many places to lodge, and the Sierra Mountains are a popular destination. If you're looking for a resort, then don't stay at a motel. But if you need a warm, clean, friendly place to stay amid your travels, then look no further. It will complement a positive experience along the road to your...
Read more06-01-18: Check-in went smoothly, parking is convenient for all rooms (see photos), room size adequate for us 3 adults for a few days. Everything appears clean, especially toilet. Very DISAPPOINTED bed feels like plywood. 06-02-18: Had a hard sleep. Found the towels to be like rough scrubbing cloths--it hurt to wash my face with the washcloth, so I ended up just using my hands. Good: Found hotel convenient to almost everything in town. 06-03-18: We went away for breakfast and came back, the room wasn't cleaned yet. We had seen the cleaners part way down the row of rooms and knew they should be to our room soon. We decided to vacate to give them time to clean our room. We return twice and it wasn't clean, eventually we came and it was finally done. RESULT: Staff slow to cleaner room. My husband saw one of the work people in 1 of the guest rooms sitting on the bed playing with her phone, obviously not working--obviously, not a good impression. 06-04-18: Another hard night's sleep; Manager informed us that the maid did not show up for work, so we would have no maid service today. 06-05-18: check out--Thank the sweet Lord! P.S. l'm not leaving a tip...
Read moreVery friendly office guy, we came at 3 am and had to ring a doorbell to alert (or rather, we probably woke him up). He responded quickly, gave us a room key. Here's where things got tricky. My daughter is very, extremely claustrophobic and the door to the room was stuck and wouldn't budge until my third try, prompting her into full meltdown panic attack mode (of course, she had been in the car for over five hours with barely a nap.) We went back to the office, I managed to assure her we'd try a different room ( bear in mind, she's still screaming and crying and begging me to take her home, while I'm starting to regret my lack of birth control pills. Lol. Just kidding, I love her and am glad she was born, but boy was I exhausted , not to mention all the money I spent on this trip. The guy was very kind and understanding, gave us a new room key (which, turns out, opened beautifully and easily.) I just wanted to share this in case anyone, or anyone's kids have similar fears. I...
