I came to try out this place for the first time due to other google reviewers. 1) Authentic Chinese food??? Nope. This is American Chinese with expired sauces on their tables. 2) Covid cautious? Nope. All unmasked and presumably even through the mandate when ppl stared at me and my mask on. 3) cleanliness? Subpar. Tablecloths seems ok, but not replaced every service. Also, a dog is in the room, so if you are allergic to animal’s shedding, you wanna do a take out. 4) Space? Def tight. Even a corner given up for the sweet dog inside. A very sweet pit bull, and I must say very gentle too. 5) Portion? Def generous. Prices were not cheap either. It’s $17-20/dish. 6) Is jt delish? It was def NOT raving amazing like all the reviews. The beef and broccoli was the only dish they did ok. Fried Wontons were made with the tiniest & skimpiest amount of stuffing, like 1/4 teaspoon full? And lomein were very salty and not flavorful. It’s like they just dumped noodles into a ton of salty sauce and the least amount of shredded carrots/onions/green onions & done. All 3 stars given for the amazing service and friendliness of staff. They were really really nice, esp the tall brunette who served us. Until old guy said u get charged extra 3.9% if u use credit card. There should be a signage outside for that if u prefer cash. Thankfully we had enough cash.

LONE PINE: CHINESE RESTAURANT: The Merry Go Round restaurant serve such generous portions that my son and I just opted to split a meal. Sure enough there was enough for both of us adults to go halfers on the dinner. In addition my husband ordered a generous chicken curry that came with rice he even had enough to give some to us. He always complains that the curry dishes are never good at restaurants but as soon as he sampled his he turned to me and said give this restaurant a 5. Immediately, I noticed that take out was available, that reservations had been made by some restaurant goers, apparently not all though, because we did not have reservations when we walked in. Outdoor seating is available and there is a air conditioning in one portion of the outdoor seating area. This staff is friendly and approachable, and when asked about the meals and the popularity of certain dishes, they were forthcoming but not pushy. This is a very popular restaurant and if you want seating you should come early or make reservations--only a suggestion, because the restaurant is crowded most of the time. By the way, my husband noted that this was probably the least expensive meal we've had while we've been in Lone Piine--so I don't know what people are complaining about when they say the food is expensive at this restaurant.

Small. Easy to miss. Small round shaped building with good sized patio option. Got Shrimp and Snow Peas, 1/2 Roasted Duck, and 3 Flavor Fried Rice. Shrimp and Snow Peas cooked perfectly. Duck slightly overdone but still tasty. Fried rice is different. I enjoyed but different flavor than most. They have a great selection of beer and sake too. They have vegetarian options as well as "American" options like grilled chicken for those who need such but I would just encourage you to get the roasted duck! Family friendly. Restaurant "security" pup that is so well behaved. Service is good but under staffed meaning they run, are quick, but if you are wanting someone to swing by every 5 mins not going to happen. For a restaurant in Lone Pine, CA is a huge win.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Merry-Go-Round, a Chinese restaurant run by the owner's son, and I must say, it was an absolutely delightful experience!

From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The decor was tasteful and elegant, with just the right touch of traditional Chinese elements to give the restaurant a distinct and charming character.

But of course, the real star of the show was the food. Every dish that we tried was an absolute delight, bursting with rich and complex flavors that were clearly crafted with care and attention to detail. The ingredients were fresh and of the highest quality, and the presentation was simply beautiful.

One thing that really stood out to me was the impeccable service. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, and our waiter in particular went out of his way to make sure that we had everything we needed and were completely satisfied with our meal.

But what really impressed me was the owner's son himself, who clearly takes great pride in his restaurant and his work. He was present throughout our meal, checking in on us and ensuring that everything was up to his high standards. It was clear that he genuinely cares about his customers and is passionate about creating a top-notch dining experience.

All in all, I would highly recommend Merry-Go-Round to anyone looking for a truly exceptional Chinese dining experience. From the delicious food to the warm and welcoming atmosphere to the outstanding service, everything about this restaurant is simply top-notch. Bravo to the owner's son for doing such a fantastic job - I can't wait to come back and dine...

Went on 8/7/2021 for dinner with my husband. We were actually going to go elsewhere but stopped when we saw a sign out front advertising gluten free.

I have Celiac disease. I have to have gluten free foods. It's not designated what is gluten free on the menu so I stopped the woman who was pouring drinks to ask what was GF. She said she was new but she said that she thought almost anything could be made GF but she wasn't sure. A little while later a male waiter came by to take our order and I again said that I had to have GF and he suggested what was already GF vs what could be made GF.

I chose the lemon chicken ($16.90) and my husband had the moo shu pork ($15.95.)

Food was kind of bland but I stopped eating my dish when I took a bite and could feel a noodle! I spit out a portion of the noodle (see photo) and let my husband finish the rest.

I can't have wheat noodles. Wheat noodles contain gluten. It's cool they have gluten free soy sauce, but cross contamination to the point a noodle is ending up in a GF dish isn't cool. I wish they'd be more careful when they specifically advertise that they have GF options on a board outside their business.

This restaurant is EXTREMELY busy. Service was a bit slow but I'm guessing that's because they had non stop phone orders. Be aware if you're wanting to dine in - it's busy and there aren't many tables. Call ahead if you want a seat.

Also, there is a 3.9% (or 3.7%, can't remember) credit card fee applied,...
