Writing this as a 3rd party who sponsored Pacific Crest Trail thru hikers. My comments are based upon my experience with booking the lodging and comments by guests.|I used a 3rd party to book the lodging. The challenge was even though I was paying for lodging, I would not be there in person. This can be an issue if using credit card. In trying to reach the motel, there phone was continually busy. I finally called the Chamber of Commerce and a wonderful lady named Marleen said she would stop by on her way home. I was given a personal cell phone # for one of the staff. Spoke to her and she in turn provided the manager's cell #. Well, the manager called me [yes, the phone system was inoperative] and we handled the payment via phone. My group arrived, checked in and all was well.|The evidence of smaller town hospitality. The Chamber of Commerce, a staff member and then the manager calling me. Also, my group were very pleased with their stay for 2 nights. Lodging very clean, comfortable for 4 people and...

From the friendly helpful staff to the nice larger than usual well appointed room. Excellent bed, strong Wi-Fi, great channel selection on tv. No smells, stains or other issues. If the were the attentive management would have dealt with them immediately.|Good location…ask for room in the back..no highway noise from 395.|This is an older looking motel at first appearance, but unlike most other older motel it’s obvious this motel has been updated and maintained to the highest standards. Liked it much better than the mid range chain motels. Next time I’m in Lone Pine will be...

Was on a motorcycle trip. After not finding suitable camping in Death Valley, ride into Lone Pine, CA with the hope of finding a place to stay on a Friday night. As I came into town, it wasn't looking good. I found the El Portal Motel with the vacancy light on. I stopped in and inquired. They had a room. Turned out it was the largest, with three beds. I paid for the single rate and enjoyed a nice, clean, quiet room. Coffee maker with coffee, mini fridge and microwave in room. Great, small place to stay! Next time I visit the Owens Valley, I will stay here. And plan in advance.

I mean… i stayed here for 1 night. The beds were pretty hard and bcs theres only like 2 reviews talking abt bugs, i didnt worry, but then i saw like 20 bugs around the beds + flies. I kept feeling itchy but thank gosh it was only 1 night. The town only has 1 supermarket which is EXTREMELY overpriced and the only food you can get is Mcdonalds or subway. The room was barely lit and the bathroom only has a toilet and a rusty shower. The sink is in the room. The closet doesnt have a door so its kinda 5 rooms combined into 1. It wasnt rlly good so u can pick other motels in town..

Staff was extremely nice and supportive, and rooms, on the other hand, were worn down. The bedding was clean, and the room was clean, just cheap repairs and incomplete repairs, evident just looking around. Great location to visit or explore Alabama Hills 10 min away, or Cerro Gordo area.
