Our family recently chose the Ramada by Wyndham at 1400 Interchange Road to host our 50th Annual Family Reunion. We brought together over 100 relatives from across the globe to reconnect and honor our family homestead located about 30 miles west of the city. This wasn’t just a gathering. It was a meaningful return to our roots.
The hotel was selected based on fond memories from older relatives who remembered it as clean, affordable, and reliable. We secured a discounted room block and booked the event space for three days, culminating in our reunion dinner and auction.
There were positives. The hospitality staff, including the front desk, bar, and catering team, were genuinely kind and accommodating. The bartender was professional and friendly, and the servers were attentive and helpful throughout our event. Their effort helped make our time together feel warm and welcoming.
We selected a dinner menu with roast sirloin of beef and chicken cordon bleu, along with seasoned potatoes, broccoli Normandy, and beverages. The entrees and potatoes were well-prepared and flavorful, though the vegetables appeared to be frozen and lacked freshness. Pressed linens would have added a more polished touch to the presentation.
The event space was spacious and gave us flexibility for various activities. At around $4,500 for the venue and meal service, the pricing was reasonable. However, no one from management ever checked in with our organizers. A simple greeting or follow-up from leadership would have added a professional and thoughtful touch, especially considering the size of our group and the investment we made.
Unfortunately, the guest room accommodations were not up to standard. Many of us experienced issues like peeling wallpaper, bathroom odors, mold in the showers, and broken lamps. The walls were thin, and doors slammed loudly, making it hard to sleep. The indoor pool was heavily chlorinated and cloudy, and the exterior grounds looked tired and unkempt. The parking lot could use resurfacing and clearer markings. A few planters or updated landscaping would go a long way in improving the overall appearance.
It’s also important to note that the hotel’s booking website is misleading. The photos suggest a much more updated and polished property than what we actually encountered.
In summary, while the staff on the ground were wonderful, the hotel itself is in need of serious maintenance and leadership presence. With so much competition in the area, updates to both the facility and guest experience are needed to stay competitive.
If we return for a future reunion, we’ll likely consider alternative accommodations that offer a more comfortable and well-maintained...
Read moreHad our wedding here and stayed the weekend. The hotel overall is ok. It is in major need of a renovation. The front desk area is welcoming enough, however many of our guests noticed a lot of people walking around who weren’t staying at the hotel. One of my coworkers had warned me before hand that this hotel has had a lot of problems with this and I saw it for myself over the weekend. The night we went to return the key for the hall we stood at the front desk for about five minutes before walking back to our room with the key as the lady at the desk was on the phone with the police calling in a couple that were just hanging out and had been there all night.
The hall needs a lot of work. The carpet is outdated and ripped in areas and you can tell the lights have been there for quite a while.
As for the rooms. We of course were able to stay in one of the honeymoon suites. The room is an awesome size. It’s a perfect place for a wedding party to get ready. The bedroom is very spacious, however all of the furniture has major scuffs and the table has a visible mark on it where something wasn’t cleaned up in a timely manner and it seems like the staff couldn’t take the time to scrape it off. The jacuzzi was a nice surprise and my husband and I enjoyed using it a couple of times. The sitting area is also very spacious. I was surprised to see an actual dining table and an electric fireplace. The room overall is nice, but the lights in the entire room are quite dull. The bathroom is rather tight. The fridge hardly keeps anything cold. The little freezer area on top doesn’t freeze at all from what I noticed. When we came in we had a little under half a roll of toilet paper and no extra one at all.
In conclusion, if you’re looking for a cheaper option for hosting a wedding or reception I would suggest weighing your options. While our experience and stay wasn’t horrible it would have been better had the hotel not seemed like it was still...
Read moreWe booked online and they were able to accommodate Me and my friend to have rooms next to each other. The check-in was easy, but when I arrived in my room I noticed the floor did not seem to be vacuumed, my bathroom was absolutely disgusting, there was mold on the shower curtain behind the toilet seat was absolutely filthy, nothing in the room had been dusted for more than two months it seemed like. We were also staying when there was two high school volleyball teams, from 1045 until 3 AM there were people running screaming and saying profanity in the hallways. At 2:30 I had had enough and I yelled at them myself to shut up and go into their rooms, they all had a alcoholic drink in their hand. When I went down to the front desk to complain about the noise the gentleman had said he was up there three times to tell them to be quiet and they would not listen. When I told the front desk lady in the morning about how disgusting my room was all she said was I’m sorry we will look into it. When we took our children swimming there was one towel left, I went to tell the front desk that they were almost out of towels and they said they had no more and their dryers were on half capacity so we would need to use our room towels. I asked if we could have more room towels then because I was not going to use the same towels as we used in the pool on clean children, she said she didn’t have any and she has no other options for me.She was very rude when I asked her what other options I had. I do not...
