First off, the staff was very nice. The fellow at the main desk was able to provide us with info regarding the groves of trees we passed on our way from Utah to Portland that were just outside Boardman. (they were used for veneers for furniture and for toilet paper- apparently very soft toilet paper. lol)||||I wish I could say the room was as nice as he was. I see that the owner or manager has commented on some of these reviews that they are updating continually, so maybe we got a room they haven't hit yet. ||||Someone said they had updated the ACs. If that is so, they missed this room. I think the main AC on the front was ok, but the smaller one for the back was a window unit that was crammed through a hole in the wall and spray foamed in. However, there was functional wi-fi and a newer flat-screen tv. ||||It wasn't dirty per se, but it looked very old and extremely outdated. The carpet was so stained, that although it might have been cleaned recently, we wore our socks in the room as opposed to going barefoot. ||||The linens seemed clean and fresh and those are more important I guess. ||||The bathroom was a mess. Cobwebs, dirt, paint that looked like it had been applied by the neighborhood children; they didn't even remove the hardware, they just painted around it. They definitely shouldn't have believed the paint label if it said it was one-coat coverage. You could see each stroke or roll and the original color beneath. ||The shower head was roughly chest-high to my friend who is around 5'9", so you can imagine where it hit me at 6'3". Also, the tub didn't feel like it had been supported beneath it. You could actually feel the fiberglass flex as you stood in the shower. Such that I was leery of standing one-footed as I thought I might just punch through it. ||||Our neighbors weren't the best either but I never blame the hotel for that. You really can't control that unless one is willing to complain, which we weren't. The music wasn't horribly loud, and I don't mind some general laughing and the like. I also think it stopped sometime between 10-11pm so I don't think it was too crazy. ||||Most of the things I had issues with were what I would call "lipstick and rouge". They could be addressed easily enough if they just cared enough to worry about the aesthetics of the rooms. Paint is cheap and they could have framed around the AC unit. The bathroom would have taken a bit more and of course carpet isn't necessarily that cheap. ||||I didn't pay for this hotel as my friend and I were swapping back and forth each night of our trip. I don't know how much it cost. But if the price is right and the need arose, I think I'd stay again, but personally, if I could, I'd just continue on to Portland. But if it's after another 14-hour stretch, yeah, this would be welcome. ||||To put it in perspective, this wasn't even the worse place we stayed on our trip. That was a big chain...
Read moreWe were tired from driving all day and knew we had to find the next towns hotels. I called a few while driving and the lady that answered was quite helpful. Plus had the two beds with a rollaway and took a dog. They were so helpful they had the rollaway in our room already. Super kind and helpful at checkin. My card even scared me with a decline! The manager fixed it and got it through. (Phew)
Then when she heard we were hungry, as we didnt stop at the right time for food, they made us two small pizzas on their BBQ and brought them to us in our room, plus drinks plates and napkins!!! What amazing service!!
Ive traveled A LOT in my life, from cheap motels, to the overly expensive hotels in Santa Barbara and Vegas. Sure the place is not new, it is an older facility, nor is it a Marriott, but the price is also a FRACTION, and probably for some of the best service I’ve ever had! Its clean, well tended, you get a microwave, a coffee pot AND a fridge (the nice 4 star I stayed at in Coos Bay last week didn’t even have a coffee pot nor microwave). 5 stars arent always for new or remodeled, sometimes cleaniness comfort and service should get a 5. Ill be staying here if i ever need to stay in...
Read moreWe did not get to stay as planned. My buddy's Mom was taken to the hospital so I called to cancel our 1 night stay. I know we had to pay as it was the day we where arrive. Before noon I got an update from my credit card that showed they billed me 2 times. I called to let them know I was billed twice. The lady I was talking to informed me they didn't make a mistake it was my bank double charging. I tried to make her understand the bank can't make any money charging me twice as the money would go to her. It went down hill from that point. If you raise your voice to me I will do the same back to you. After she hung up I called my bank and they saw the 2 charges less than 5 minutes apart and only allowed 1 charger to go on my card. What the lady didn't understand is I have used that card for over 20 years and around the world. This is the first time anyone has tried to double bill and the bank can't receive any money by doing that. It might be a very nice place to stay but check your card statement for any mistakes that...
