I usually stay at the other hotel chain and by now, it’s mostly because I’m used to the process and the customer service. Having said that, I thought I had checked in here using the app but I missed a step to complete that. Regardless, it would not have mattered, as many Marriott chains are not yet fully equipped with the phone/app key technology. In-person check-in was easy and fast; front desk clerk was friendly and professional. What’s always a plus for me, as a solo traveler, is when staff doesn’t say my floor or room aloud—that’s important.
My room was large and clean. However, it had a very musky smell…almost humid but bearable. A sofa in living room area, mini fridge, microwave and sink in kitchen area. King size bed with extraordinary comfortable pillows. Very tight fit in the bathroom—kept stubbing my toe on door and to be able to get in, I had to fully be in the bathroom to be able to grab the door to close. I was able to sleep but about 2am, being that my room was facing the front parking lot, on 2nd floor, people who were loud woke me up. I tried to go back to sleep but woke up again about half hour later with the same people exiting the elevators. Took me a while but eventually went back to sleep. There was a lot of creaking sounds as the people on the floor above me walked…you could hear their steps. For a second, I felt I was in an old apartment building. I wasn’t able to hear into other rooms near me, which was good but I did hear above me, which was odd.
The location was perfect for me. It was a short walking distance to the Boise River Greenbelt trail which goes for miles on either end. That, in itself is absolutely beautiful and peaceful (and on another review).
Unfortunately, this location does not have a restaurant inside. However, there are a few places for either breakfast (The Griddle or Zero Six Coffee), lunch (Lemon Tree) or dinner/drinks (The Refuge) within same parking lot. Breakfast, though, is served here and actually quite good: scrambled/hard boiled eggs, bacon, potatoes, and freshly made waffles (large and small waffles). There’s an array of breakfast items and all quite fresh. What impressed me the most, was the hard working staff in maintaining everything stocked, clean and being very courteous to patrons—being attentive and even picking up finished dishes in dining area.
I wanted to use the bike rental services but was unable to. Being that the river walk way is right by this location, it would be perfect.
I’ve stayed more central downtown before. I probably wouldn’t mind returning. There were some things that may have bothered me, but to be fair, they weren’t super major. My rating is mostly based on the musky smell, the humidity and it fully functioning AC, along with...
Read moreThis hotel might have once been great, but no longer. I chose this hotel based on reviews and their commitment to cleanliness. Always a factor of importance for me when choosing a hotel, but especially during this time of Covid. Not just because of Covid itself but also knowing that many places are understaffed.
My FIRST room’s bathroom was disgusting. And I’m not just talking of the black hairs that were left probably when someone was doing a very surface level cleaning. But what I’m talking about is the pink mildew that covered everything in the bathroom. They put me in a handicap accessible room which meant there was even more tile than normal. Not only was the ground tile covered in pink mildew but it extended up the walls as well. I called the hotel and explained to them my bathroom hadn’t been cleaned. Their first response was that was the only king room they had. I have a vacation rental. The first response should be an apology and if you don’t have elsewhere, that you’ll come clean it. Nope. I said that’s fine if you only have a Queen. They did so they moved me there.
After driving 10 hours I was exhausted and annoyed I’d already unpacked and had to repack and move. This room was hardly better. But since it was my SECOND UNCLEANED room, I assume everywhere was the same. This one also had pink mildew everywhere in the bathroom. There also was still trash in the trash bin. The ice bin still had a bag of melted ice from a previous person. Obviously not inspiring confidence in cleanliness.
I called Marriott afterwards to inform them and ask for some kind of compensation because I might of well stayed in a motel 8 for half the price. There response was since it was booked through Expedia they could do nothing. I reached out to Expedia who reached out to the hotel. The hotel said I should have said something so they could have made it right. I obviously did because they changed my room.
So not only a gross and I didn’t even mention very outdated and old looking hotel but terrible customer service.
Save yourself and stay elsewhere. There are plenty of other options. I frequent boise often and decided to treat myself to a nicer location and nicer hotel. Showing up to a hotel under construction was also a surprise and just one more thing that made this...
Read moreThe room was unacceptably dirty. I was disgusted. We chose this hotel because it boasted about cleanliness and precautions during the pandemic, and since the Marriott is a well-known hotel chain, we felt confident in our choice to stay....and yet we were severely disappointed. When we arrived into our room after over 13 hours of driving from California with our 2 young children, I took the time to wipe down the room. In doing so, I found a fingernail, mold in the coffee pot, food splattered all over the inside of the microwave, crumbs on most surfaces, the floor, and covering a computer-type chair, hair in and on the sink and bathtub, trash under the bed, stains on the carpet and window, uncleaned handprints on the window, and toothpaste on a counter backsplash. Many surfaces, especially the window ledge, left my Clorox wipes black from the dirt of the uncleaned areas. What we believe was a fire detector, was making a buzzing static-like sound that sounded like interference of some sort. After each toilet flush, there was a tapping sound on the wall for several minutes. We had already unloaded everything into our room and our kids just wanted to go to bed, so we decided to stay in the room after I had done a thorough clean. My husband went to the front desk late the night of our arrival and let the front desk person know. We were told it would be taken care of the next day, and we never had any follow-up from any staff or management. We decided to skip the included breakfast because we assumed the food was probably not prepared in a clean environment. I am still incredibly upset with the state of this room. I would not recommend this...
