Original Review: When in the area of Park Center my wife and I like to get Fish/Chips at Red Robin. This last Wed, July 26th of 2023 we arrived there at 11:45am, just before the lunch hour started, the place was pretty much empty, so we asked to be seated outside. The Hostess took us to a great table and gave us menus. My wife went to use the ladies facilities while I remained seated for a waitperson. There was one other four person group at the other end of the outside deck and they were being served by a male waiter.
My wife returned, asked if I had ordered, nooo.... nobody has shown up. About ten minutes later she got up and went inside to ask for assistance and returned to the table. Another ten minutes went by and we still had not been helped. Each time the waiter that was serving the group at the other end of the deck appeared at their table, we would wave at him, but were ignored.
After a full 20 minutes of being ignored had passed, we gathered our things and left via the outside exit, returning to our vehicle and went elsewhere to enjoy a lunch and spend our hard earned dollars.
Red Robin? Enjoyed the nice view of the Park Center Lake while seated at our table (I should mention that they didn't even bother to raise our umbrella; they left that for us to do.... by us I mean me at 72 years of age and my wife at 77 years of age (I know people say that when you get old you become invisible, I guess that is more accurate than I realized) In any case, while we used to dine there at least a dozen times a year, no longer will that be the case.
So no reviews about food quality here, just a total lack of service or any attention at all, even after requesting it (I should mention that my wife spent four decades as a waitress in a number of establishments and was truly dumbfounded by the lack of training demonstrated by this lack of attention.
So... buyer beware. Maybe sit inside? Dunno.... but certainly don't expect to sit out on the deck to enjoy anything other than the view.
1st Followup Review: Red Robin immediately reached out to me via both a Google Review Response and a direct email, which eventually ended up in the hands of the owner of that location. As a result of that, we are going to return to repeat that scenario following our next visit to Hollingshead Eyecare (Outstanding Eyecare BTW!) walking in, asking for outdoor dining and seeing how it goes. I will then followup with another review after that, as well as let the owner know if their changes have taken effect. Long and short of it however, is that they left no stone un-turned in responding to the situation.
2nd Follow-Up Review: We returned to Red Robin on Friday, Aug. 18th, 2023 and again asked to be seated on the patio, just as they opened their doors. We were given a selection of tables, the table was cleaned, the service was excellent throughout the meal and the food was excellent. Obviously they have addressed the issue we previously encountered and have their patio service up and running perfectly!
As an aside, I would like to mention that we placed an order for Fish & Chips and asked if they could bring an extra plate so we could split the order (as most older diners know, one's appetite diminishes with age and large or full lunches go unfinished) Not only did they bring two plates, they equally divided the meal up onto two dishes as well. Something you never see done at restaurants. THANK YOU! Another concern with ordering anything deep fried when a restaurant opens is both the freshness and the proper temperature of the oil in the fryer, dependent on how frequently they change it and when they turned it on to heat up. As we placed our order right when they opened, that is always a issue. Happy to say that our fish was both hot and crispy and not oily in the least!
Needless to say, we will continue to give our patronage to Red Robin! Thank...
Read moreWent in sunday night for dinner with my family. Worst experience ever. I already noticed they were short staffed so i tried to let some things slide but everything that happened was ridiculous. So we get seated didnt get greeted for about 10 minutes so i asked the host if our server was coming, he walked by multiple times to check the table right next to us. So he finally comes and gets our drink order took about another 10 minutes to get the drinks and my daughters lemonade didnt come out with the rest of the drinks, til another 5 or so minutes. Got our order taken, ny daughter wanted a sauce that came on the burger on the side, i got a burger with no mayo. During this whole time waiting for food all the tables around us by are getting checked on we are out of drinks and nobody came by or anything. The table that came in after us got checked on refills and there order came before ours, sitting down about 10 minutes after we got sat. Food was brought out by manager and he saw we didnt have drinks so he went to get us refills. As he was gone i look at our food. My daughter had sauce on her burger i was missing a few items on my burger, my wife ordered garlic fries and they didnt come out. 3 different meals all with something messed up on it. So when manager came back i talked with him told him i understood the situation but this was ridiculous. But after he left our server still didnt come check on the table once we ran out of drinks again. After eating our whole meal stil no one checked on us so i got up and got our own to go boxes. Had to run down and find our server to get check, and right when i said i wanted to pay he got snippy and said you just pay using computer, told him i had cash, got upset look on his face said k ill be back. Another 5 or so minutes just to get the check, had the money ready for him to get cashed out, and he seemed pissed he had to give me change. From walking in to end of service this place was horrible,...
Read moreI'm kind of so-so with Red Robin. They have a great selection of burgers with many different toppings. I like the creativity of their research and development arm but it seems like the fillings are meant to cover up for the bland hamburgers themselves.
The burger had the appearance of a pre-formed, possibly frozen burger like those from the place with the golden arches. Only the size of the burger leaned more toward the size of a Quarter Pounder than the 10-to-one pound regular burgers of the other place.
However, it didn't appear the Chop House burger I ordered had any seasoning added to it. By itself, it was pretty bland. Lucky it came with onion straws, mushrooms and some kind of Dijon sauce. It also came with steak sauce, but fearing the worst, I asked for it on the side. Thank goodness. There's no better way to ruin a perfectly good guitar, errr, steak or hamburger by masking it with steak sauce. I dipped a French fry into it and nearly keeled over. It was awful.
I was seated at a table in the bar, which meant the bartender had to tend with me, three or four other tables, plus several people seated at the bar. He spent about two seconds every time he sort of stopped at my table. Did more of a "is everything ok," "do you need some more water," "can I get you some more fries," on the fly.
Red Robin is typically busy and this lunchtime was no exception. While my server was friendly at each short encounter, I noticed two other servers and what I assumed was some sort of manager tight-lipped the entire time. They didn't appear friendly to customers or workers alike. I was glad I wasn't in their areas, even though I was close enough to observe them.
I enjoyed watching the couple seated around the corner from me. They didn't say five words during the entire meal. They were both too busy texting. Guess they should have gone out for lunch with the people on...
