If you're craving a side of humiliation with your meal, Lemon Tree Co in Boise is the place for you. Not only do they serve up subpar food, but they also dish out a hefty portion of mistreatment to their employees. The owner of the place seems to think he can get away with making off colored jokes about people as well. I was very dissatisfied when he offered my wife a footrub to go with her order.
Picture this: you're enjoying your meal when suddenly, the manager decides it's time to put on a show. Right there, in front of the entire dining room, they publicly shame and reprimand their staff as if they were naughty children. It's a cringe-worthy spectacle that leaves a sour taste in your mouth long after the meal is over.
As if that weren't enough, the employees themselves wear the weight of this oppressive atmosphere like a heavy cloak. You can see it in their eyes – the resignation, the defeat. It's as if they've accepted their fate as second-class citizens in this culinary dictatorship.
And let's not forget about the food – or lack thereof. The only thing more stale than the cibatta bread they try to pass off as "fresh" is the management's attitude towards their workers. It's a toxic blend of apathy and arrogance that leaves a bitter aftertaste with every bite. You can clearly tell that the menu is dictated by the owner and not the obviously culinarily trained chef.
In short, Lemon Tree Co isn't just a restaurant – it's a cautionary tale of how not to treat your employees. Do yourself a favor and take your appetite – and your conscience...
Read moreI never write bad reviews, but we had an absolutely horrible experience yesterday, that is worth sharing. We ordered in advance with the goal of picking up food and taking it to go with family. When we arrived, the food wasn’t ready, and the staff was unhelpful and didn’t acknowledge us. 20 mins AFTER the supposed pick up time, the food finally came out but we had run out of time to take it to family. We asked the front counter if we could sit at one of their tables outside, are we’re told “of course” by the staff. Seconds after sitting down, the manager/owner stormed up and accosted us for eating at one of the tables, despite five other tables being open on the patio, and our food being late. When we shared we had asked employees before sitting, he became more agitated and aggressive, yelling at us that “they don’t know what they are talking about”. Having worked in food service for years, I know it is hard. We have immense patience for staff and know it can be challenging, but I have never, ever felt threatened in the way I did by the manager owner. Do not go here. They are horrible and it was genuinely the worst dining experience we have ever had. $50 for two sandwiches, a 15% tip, and you can’t sit outside, even with...
Read moreWe had an absolutely awful experience with the owner today. We were a little frustrated with how late our pickup order was, and receiving little to no help from the staff, despite their being no one else in the restaurant. This, however was not the negative experience, having worked in the service industry, I understand there are many variables. However, the owner accosted us about asking about asking about the status of our food, asked us if we were frustrated, and upon saying yes, he said “have you ever run a reestaurant?” and then just kept verbally arguing with us about the most minor concerns we brought up. Then blamed one of his employees for an error she made, and told us “not to listen to her, she’s new”. Again, we really weren’t bothered that much until he started arguing with us and being a jerk for no reason. As a former worker in restaurants and service, it was the worst customer service I’ve ever received. We barely even complained, yet he went berserk on us for no reason. I just feel bad for his employees and customers. We will not return just...
