If I could I'd give -5 stars, I would. Right next to mass ave where all the homeless addicts are, the funeral home, and hospital. It's a fishbowl. That aside, my fiancée works for Boston public works. We have stayed there a total of 2 times. One 2 nights and another 3. We stayed in I believe room 403 and then 417. 403 is right close to the elevator however, the inside of the shower curtain has blood Inside it and on the ceiling there are four different spots where blood was squirted It was gross but I cleaned myself as I felt for the friendly house keepers. I am not one to complain, and even attend physical therapy which is located inside the same building as the hotel. I did not feel unsafe because I am used to the area of Bostons Mass and Cass because I've been working w/ the people at the shelter and volunteer at a nearby building. Aside from strangers asking you for money and the fact that it is it is NOT an area to bring children to period, once inside the hotel, the house keeping staff are very friendly and down to earth. So are the people who work in the kitchen. The front desk however ar extremely racist, stereotyping of interracial couples to say the least.God forbid you come in with backpacks and bags they treat you as though you are A homeless addict yourself...here is my experience: so some days my fiancée I stay at the hotels in this area because we do not have a car right now and we walk to work and volunteer over 4-6 mi early morning, sometimes it's nice to relax and not have to walk all that way both ways. I walked to the Hampton in after calling to see if there were rooms available. The woman at the desk had short dark hair in a slicked back ponytail. She asked me if I had a question, "Yes, I would like to know how much it would be for five nights? She mumbled $700 something then, " But there is only one bed, and it's a $25 hold per night.(immediately assuming that I couldn't afford the room alone, and God forbid that anyone would be sharing a bed with me) I said, "okay that's fine. Could you please write the total on a card for me please so I know how much to take out and put on that card?"(She wrote $792.77 for the 5 nights) She handed me the card and said "and we don't take any third party cards or anything like THAT... AND the rates are subject to go up at any time." I left, called my fiancée feeling like she just treated me as though I I was the biggest piece of crap, however we laughed after my fiancée joked about sleeping on the floor. So, I let it go when later we showed up (after working, and walking carrying our things for a five day stay, happy to finally get some rest and celebrate Valentine's Day as we also got recently engaged) anyways, when we got there, things were even worse. The woman who is now behind the counter has long fake eyelashes, bleached blonde hair, and it was difficult to tell her nationality because she looked like she may even have bleached her skin and the only reason I mention this is because my fiancée is black and I am white. We have sadly experienced bs racism and judgement like this all the time. Including getting asked for drugs. We do not drink, smoke or use drugs of any kind.We were then given an attitude and told they do not accept the MasterCard fro the PLS check cashing place with my fiancées name on it (mind you,we've used stay 2x, last time was just 2 weeks ago) then her boss (supposedly the hotel manager) comes out she is white and she also has her hair in a slicked back ponytail with overly penciled in brows, and enough white cakes makeup to put her up as a Russian contestant for Michael Jackson look alikes, a woman in her 60s with so much Botox the only part of her face that moved was the corner of her lip as she smirked while we walked away. Do not stay here. The Marriott was $350 a night due to an indoor volleyball tournament and still better service towards us though we didn't stay that night it's clean and...
Read moreHow we ended up here, I am not sure. However, I am certain that this was THE WORST hotel stay I have ever experienced. This is definitely not my usual review style. According to hotel staff, afterwards of course, "Our urban location adjacent to the hospital is convenient for guests in town for appointments, and this results in the occasional siren." Let me rephrase this: THIS RESULTS IN CONSTANT SIRENS, notice the S at the end of siren. The windows seem to be composed of sound amplifiers because you feel as if you are in the driver seat, taking part in the ambulance's trips. We, diamond members, booked three nights and they were nights at Inferno. This was the July 4th weekend and the stay was close to $1000 for three nights. Considering the nightly price and the vicinity to the airport (4 miles) and landmarks ( ~ 2 miles) we thought this would be a nice place to sleep at. Just close enough. We could take the subway and be everywhere in no time. Oh were we wrong! First taxi we take to the hotel ( 9 minutes ) tells us that we are in a dangerous area, to not go walking around. How bad could it be? We are not that selective believe it or not. To walk into the hotel, this was during night time, someone had to unlock the door from inside. Odd. Next day when we walk out, there were two individuals feets from us and they did not look ok. We had a stroller and two toddlers with us so this was no time to get adventurous and chancy. Right after that we always noticed someone or something at the hotel entrance, so only taxi to leave and arrive at the hotel every day. Not what we had in mind. Every taxi driver would tell us how that area, "Methadone mile", was dangerous. This is a section full of people with substance abuse issues, homeless shelters and methadone clinics. We never slept while we were there, never. The first night we thought it was a coincidence, sirens every 6-10 minutes, and decided to stay. Huge mistake. We should have gone somewhere else. No one, including the children of course, got any sleep. We were in constant alert. The exhaustion and frustration, while on vacation, was unbearable. How is the hotel area situation so veiled? How are the prices so high compared to the quality? How are the windows so uninsulated?
The second night there were shots and when we looked out the window there were about 12 police cars. It was always noon over there. No time to sleep. At any moment you could see around 4 to 5 police cars spread in the intersection.
The staff was nice but I can't think of anything else besides the surprise and burnout we experienced by staying here. The rest is irrelevant at this point. Trust me and go somewhere else. Hope they get to help the folks over there and the situation improves for everyone.
Oh, to make it even more interesting. We just noticed an extra charge to our card. We called, they had made a mistake and charged for parking during our stay. Would they have fixed it had we not called?
Liked Boston, Highly Disliked...
Read moreStayed here for a week in room 917. I gave this 2 stars because that staff for the most part was friendly. Security was the most helpful out of any of the staff. I really donât have complaints on the staff. My issues are as follows:
When you pull up to the entrance at night there is very little lighting. There were a few sketchy people in the area and I guess this is why security hangs out in front. At the corner there are people panhandling and trying to wash your car windows for money. The hotel charges $20 a day parking on top of the cost of renting the room. Parking is across the street in a garage that doesnât belong to the hotel. Pray itâs not raining when you walk from the garage to the hotel. The garage is dirty and trash in the parking spots (at least the days we were there.)
Each day there was a bucket on the floor near the elevators that was catching water leaking from the A/C. The digital key only worked one day for the elevator. We stayed 6 nights.
In our room, the TV never turned on for the time we were there. To the hotels credit, we never told anyone. We honestly tried to not be at the hotel as much as possible. Therefore we never had time to watch TV. When you walk in the room, there is a strong musty odor. It smells like old carpet, or carpet that was wet. The room did not appear dirty but we just never felt clean in the room. We always felt dirty being in this hotel. The elevator floors were always dirty, the hotel seemed run down and in a big need of a renovation. I did ask to have our room changed due to the smell, but I was told there was no room to move us too.
When we reserved this hotel, we thought it was in the heart of downtown where the night life was. This is not the case. We Ubered a few times and 2 of the drivers told us we are not in a good area and to just use caution. I will say we never had an issue.
They have a free shuffle that goes to a couple of places. We were not able to take the shuttle to the Prudential center because it was full already, so we took an Uber. We called to reserve the shuttle to pick us up and bring as back. They told us it will pick us up at 2pm. At 2:10 pm we called the hotel to very would it would be because it never came. She told us we were in the right spot. At 2:20 we called again and she then said there was traffic and it had to make 1 stop before picking us up and to give it 10 minutes. After standing on the street corner for 45 minutes, we decided to call an Uber and take it back to the hotel. The shuttle never showed up.
The last issue is the noise. The hotel is next to a hospital. All night long we heard sirens. We had the hardest time sleeping. Also, due to the area, police sirens were non-stop as well. It just added to the dirty, undesirable ambience of the hotel.
This isnât the worse hotel, but we definitely will not be staying there again. Itâs old, run down, not in a good area, and just not worth the price of...
