I come from an abusive family and became a crack addict in my 30’s. I also struggled with abusive relationships. I sought out therapy and began my journey of healing. Two years in when things were really hard I found South End Neighborhood church, through a friend. At that time, I did not identify as a Christian. The kindness and love that I found there, along with the incredible community that became my family, I became a believer in Jesus Christ. The people at South end neighborhood church never judged me for my past. They only loved me and helped me heal… I am now married with five years, clean, living, a peaceful, enjoyable life. This congregation survived for 50 years and recently had no sanctuary, no pastor and no real direction - all during a global pandemic. Its aging membership now is faced with the challenge of passing her legacy on to the next generation. It is committed to multi-culturalism, bible teaching, traditional family values, monthly communion, baptism and confession to be a member- and starting other churches. I am still struggling to find my place here but the people have a special love for each other and I have found the presence of Jesus here.
