You can gauge the overall quality of a Japanese restaurant based on its miso soup alone; miso soup is an extremely easy to make and high margin product for a restaurant that a low quality miso soup means that the restaurant most likely skimps on the quality of their other offerings. The miso soup was heavily watered down - needed either more dashi and / or miso paste to bring it to an acceptable level. I rarely have a good experience with ramen offerings at a sushi place and this was no exception. The "tonkotsu" ramen broth was anything but; it didn't taste anything remotely that would be considered tonkotsu and the noodles looked like it came out of some western version of packaged ramen noodles. The beef "teriyaki" lunch bento was awful. The "teriyaki" sauce tasted watered down and they would have been better off with the 99c bachan's teriyaki sauce from Costco because this sauce was the worst I've ever consumed. I was struggling to taste the components of teriyaki in it. It didn't even have the viscosity of teriyaki either and was this watery mess. The dipping sauce for the potstickers was also some strange spiced anomaly; the sauce that we all know and love isn't hard to make either - it's 1:1 soy sauce and vinegar, and they should have just went with that. The california roll included was ok. It's just overall I feel sad for the folks that live around here as this may be their only exposure to Japanese food and none of it represents anything that could be remotely considered decent. They need to remove the dim sum and ramen options and focus on what they are - a sushi joint.

Tiny portions and way overpriced for what it is. Today I ordered: - Monkey Brain - Miso Soup - Pittsburgh Roll - 2 x Salmon Avocado Rolls The rolls were atrociously small. I eat Sushi all over the country and these rolls were by far the smallest I have seen so far. Which is why 3 rolls fit into one box. The amount of soup I got is also smaller than any other place I have tried in Boulder. The end result was $45.65 for something that doesn't even get my wife satisfied (no pun intended). Take a look at the picture and tell me its worth more than $12 total. Because another issue is that the Sushi really isn't very good. Even ignoring the tiny portions. The Monkey Brain was just textureless and without the sweet sauce would have been not all that edible. I had ordered this through Hungrybuffs, the total including delivery and tip for the driver was $56.05.

I've been dinning at Sushi Hana on the Hill for the better part of 2 years, and I must admit that they're a top notch restaurant. I've tried more then half the menu items but I've settled on a usual that has become a mantra of sorts when i order. The owners are amazing, the staffing is well trained and organized, and the food is wonderful quality. If you're looking for a nice place for lunch or dinner, I'd highly recommend. It can get lively sense it's next to the college, but that becomes a part of the charm. P.S. I usual order the pork gyoza, perfect roll, rainbow roll, a Sapporo and sake.

Sushi Hana is my favorite sushi restaurant in Boulder! There has never been an issue with any of the food, which is always delicious and very reasonably priced. The people who work there are super sweet, and the restaurant itself has a comfortable atmosphere. It's never crowded so you can stop by at any time and get a table. My food has never been cold when I ordered carry-out; they prepare carry-out orders pretty quick (15 mins for 3 items last time I went) so anyone who had an issue with their food being cold might have waited too long.

I highly recommend the calamari and the galaxy roll! If you have a sweet tooth, Sushi Hana also has a variety of mochi (green tea/red bean are my picks) along with other...
