My air vent had mushrooms inside it which blew out black mold onto my belongings overnight. I booked 6 nights in the hotel, requested a fragrance-free room due to allergies, and when I arrived, the whole hotel reeked of heavy fragrance. My room was better, doable with regards to fragrance, so I gave the manager the thumbs up on my way out to dinner the first night.
The first morning I woke up to black soot on the desk, and looked into the vent and found mushrooms. I immediately brought it to the managers attention, asked for a refund, cancelled my remaining 5 nights, checked out of the room and moved to a different, more expensive, hotel 5 min away.
I never heard back from management until after I completed the online survey a week later, when I was informed that I wouldn’t receive a refund because I said the room was okay the night before. I only have the thumbs up for the fragrance issue. The manager knew exactly why I gave her the thumbs up.
I did a thorough inspection in the room after I found the mushrooms the morning and also found used soap in the shower, sticky stuff on the nightstand, white fluff all over the couch, and pink slime in the sink.
Worst hotel experience of my life, and I travel a LOT. After I moved to the new hotel I learned that the comfort Inn had been robbed a few weeks back. Do NOT book here, choose a different hotel if you value your health and safety.
UPDATE
Regarding the reply from the local Comfort Inn, below: So what you're suggesting is that I should have been psychic and known about the mushrooms in the fan before they sprayed black mold all over my belongings which I only discovered the next morning? And someone else's soap in the shower that I should have seen at midnight when I fell into my bed with exhaustion after having spent the day traveling and meeting family for dinner? If you read my review carefully, you'll see that I brought it to management's attention IMMEDIATELY upon discovery. Your demands are unreasonable, I hope the readers of this review take note.
I really hope that this review helps other guests avoid this abominable experience. There is a better, VERY clean hotel 5 minutes away (Hampton Inn) with an excellent staff who go out of their way to make guests feel comfortable. Please give Hampton your business, as they deserve it.
UPDATE #2
I received a reply from corporate who were equally as shocked as I was to find the room in this condition, and my poor treatment by local management. Corporate has apologized profusely. So far they have been supportive, working out details with them now. I will update with the final result. I'm only asking for a refund for that one night, which is not unreasonable request, considering the state of that room and mistreatment by management. It shouldn't be this hard to do the...
Read moreReally disappointed with my stay here. I booked 2 rooms and was traveling for a funeral. With that being said it would have been nice to experience some form of hospitality. ||Check-In - Fast efficient, confirmed my room type. I requested a rollaway and was not told about the price per day at no point. I noticed it on the bill upon check out. ||Breakfast- Basic options, the staff seemed more interested in speaking with each other vs bussing the tables and making sure guest had clean tables to sit at. The waffle station was a nice touch. They need to replenish more often specially during peak times. |||Upon check out I went to the front desk to request a late check out. I was told by “Brenda” they had 186 check outs and only 4 housekeepers working. Not sure why I needed to know this but it was told to me on a very rude and condescending way that was totally rude and uncalled for. I requested that my keys be updated as they stopped working. Upon arriving to my room with my new keys they did not work. I went back to the desk and spoke with “Rachel”. I explained to her the new keys did not work so she came up to the room to check. She confirmed they were not working so we proceeded to walk back to the desk as she had no phone on her (working without resources to readily help a guest, red flag). The engineer arrived and he was very helpful, sadly the door still would not open resulting in him taking more time and eventually having to break the room door open. |||After this entire ordeal I lost a lot of time so I called the desk again to advise them that the delay in getting back into my room really set me back. I again asked for a late check out and “Rachel” proceeded to say “no, no, exactly what the lady told you we can’t do a late check out we have 4 housekeepers” I then asked her what ways could she support in making sure I did not miss my transportation, as I did not expect for engineering to have to break my door open. The response was her hanging up on me and then not picking up the phone when I called back 2 times. I went to the desk personally to get her name is felt this was a very negative interaction and wanted to write a review. ||As someone that travels often I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and I would never come back…. the hospitality was a major miss. Simple free opportunities to engage with a guest and provide a memorable experience were missed. Traveling for a funeral is stressful enough, having the staff treat you poorly was not apart of my plans. |||Spend the extra few bucks and stay somewhere else. This property is...
Read moreThis is a great hotel to stay in if you are in the Bowie area visiting or close to that area . The comfort INN really lives up to its name , I could stay in my room all day. The big windows with plenty natural sunlight coming thru and a great view of the pool and patio decks. The room was spacious and clean , came with microwave, cable TV with a few good cartoon channel for children and HBO movie channels and other good movie channels. WIFI is fast and beds are super crisp and comfortable. There is coffee and tea in your room and the showers have big head that feel like rainfall, so satisfying. The bathrooms have big mirrors and are also very spacious, deep bathtubs and super clean and white tile. Housekeeping also put make up removers in the bathroom which was a huge PLUS , I actually forgot mine in New York so I was happy they provided those with the room lol . The breakfast was delicious, the biscuits and country gravy 🤤 their bacon and the countless other things to choose from . It is a full hot breakfast buffet with cereal and a cool waffle maker kids enjoy !! Those waffles are big and filling , yogurt and bagels , also had options between hard boil eggs and scramble, exceeded my expectations honestly on the breakfast tip . I walked away satisfied with the taste and quality of food . The hotel is very convenient, laundry and fitness center on the first floor and also a nice size pool in the back with a few patio chairs and table with umbrella , beautiful.
Lastly, the staff . My favorite person there was Jackie in house keeping , I believe she is a manager and rightfully so . I love her energy and her welcoming attitude, I felt so comfortable going to her if I needed anything or any information about the area , she was such a joy and good personality . She really made my stay that much more comfortable, I felt good spirits from the staff here overall nit one complaint, from the woman running the dinning area who always made sure the juice at breakfast stay filled and made sure the buffet were neat and the food presentation were up to par , to the woman on the fourth floor cleaning me room , she was so kind and polite and always asked before entering my room , I appreciate the kindness and happy faces I seen with staff , the energy was good in there . Hopefully when I return , because I definitely will be Staying here from now on when I come to Maryland , I hope to see Jackie again , she truly made my stay that much more special and I hope she can see this review and I’ll see her again soon ! The girl with the flexi rods 😂...
