I would like to give my absolutely deepest thanks to your front desk employee, Amanda. She deserves a raise, a promotion, and possibly a fully paid tropical vacation for her outstanding empathy and kindness.
March 25th 2023 at 8:30 pm, after working a full 15 hour day including driving at a BGSU convention event, my friend had failed to look in to the particulars of a motel (Best Motel) they booked 20 minutes south of campus much reminiscent of the horror set of the Bates Motel. Unlit parking lot, pitch black, with reviews of bed bugs. We pulled in and I felt so unsafe I refused to stay there, particularly after being accosted by the owner.
We called many hotels, all booked, before reaching Amanda. The female Fairfield employee actually hung up on me for asking for a room for the same night.
And then, a blessing, an absolute angel of a person, Amanda answered the phone of Best Western. I explained my situation and she very gently with great empathy said, "honey, you are 7 minutes from me, please come and I'll have a room ready."
She is even more deeply empathetic and understanding in person hearing my tale for a second time. She provided me with a swift check in, a discount for being a BGSU graduate, waters, and told me to please use the whirlpool, get some rest, and a hot breakfast would be waiting in the morning. She made me feel safe and comforted, which is important to someone exhausted on 3 hours of sleep and on the verge of an anxiety attack.
The next morning before checking out to work another long day, your hotel staff Anthony and another dark haired gentleman, were equally as pleasant and lovely. I am beyond grateful for the kindness of all your staff in such a...
Read moreWe went to Bowling Green, OH to visit my daughter and grandson. We stayed at the Best Western on Falcon and the front desk reps were quite pleasant and helpful. We drove from Minneapolis, MN during the night and arrived Thursday at about 11 a.m. I was so grateful they had a room available, so we could check in early. My other daughter with our granddaughter also came with us. (My daughter, who joined us, and I have long hair, so I requested extra towels for our showers, besides extra shampoo, conditioner, and lotion.) The front desk also supplied us with some water bottles to use for formula and taking meds. So, I definitely give the customer service reps a high 5. I was also pleasantly surprised by their wide variety of breakfast options. The rooms were clean and neat. We were given 3 key cards and an extra blanket (there was already one in the room.) We had the privacy sign on the door and just placed the used towels and garbage out early in the morning. We were supplied with extra garbage bags and toilet paper as needed. The beds and pillows were comfortable for not being home in one's own bed. There was a decent-sized mini fridge in the room. Lock boxes were available upon request. They had cable plug-ins and electric outlets on the table lamps for charging the electronic devices besides our phones. I was pleased with this and I haven't seen this before. Oh, the soundproofing was excellent. I thought the hotel was kid friendly, as my granddaughter wanted to walk all around, especially the stairs. No one seemed to mind her. P.S. My husband, daughter, and granddaughter enjoyed...

From the front-door staff, I learned that this particular motel has been a Best Western for about fifty years - and as such, the rating is certainly beyond the staff's control.
From what I gather, most of the rooms are outside doors (old-school motel setup), and mine certainly was - (room 248 - top-middle of the building right next to the housekeeping office/room).
WiFi signal was abysmal.
Room was clean and well kept, albeit aged.
Breakfast was just as well laid out as the substantially newer Hampton Inn just up the street - although it was in about 1/5 the space.
Bottom line - this staff and management is doing the best it can do with the building/space given.
A big reason for the three-star rating is that this hot-wired for about 5% less than my room at the Hampton Inn. This is beyond the local control (I suspect). The reason I know this is because I extended my hotwire stay by two nights at the other hotel, anticipating staying there - but had to move.
In any case, if you were to choose to come here, and were not using third-party bargain apps, then you should realize this is a clean, well-staffed although substantially aged property that, when lodged in the outside-door rooms, offers abysmal wifi.
Hope this didn't sound too negative - I can only wrap up with how I started: "3-stars in Yelp-Speak for a...
