Don’t know where to begin here. First of all was gouged for over $300 a night because of Super Bowl weekend even though it was 35 miles out of town and worth about $90. Secondly, this is what they refer to as “one of the oldest active hotels in the country, dating back to the 1890s.” Not sure its been updated since then. Cavernous cold lobby that looks like it was designed by a decorator from Tombstone replete with “drapery wallpaper.” Rooms were cheap, antique beds for couples from the early 1900s with mattress size somewhere between Full and Queen. No tables to put anything on. No fridge. No microwave. Coffee maker complete with ONE styrofoam cup. Jacuzzi tub probably installed in the 1990s that you couldn’t have paid me to sit in. Analog TV (do they still make those?). Breakfast was excellent in the hotel restaurant. Dinner was wretched with gray marbled prime rib and salmon cooked on the outside only and raw on the inside. Just a horrible experience. We left after the first night even though they refused to refund us the two nights not used. That should tell you how much we hated this...
Read moreWhat a wonderful spot to enjoy a getaway! With a waterfront view and lovely balcony to relax, its cozy gas fireplace to make it right for any season, immaculate cleanliness (and we’re fussy!) this is a perfect setting for you. We love the kitchen utensils to cook and eat in room… or delicious options to restaurants just steps away. And Boyne City provides a centrally located base to go further north to Charlevoix, Petoskey or the tunnel of trees; or south toward Bellaire and the breweries, and scenic ski spots. Our last stay put us there during Michigan’s fall color change and wow! We prefer the one-story units, but if you don’t mind stairs, the third floor condos with the bedroom/bath upstairs overlooking Lake Charlevoix are also awesome. Freshly remodeled rooms, and a Covid-safe environment remind us to make our 2022 reservations soon....
Read moreOur condo smells so bad. Somewhere between a cross of a nursing home and mildew. The unit is an assmeblage of garage sale furniture paired with carpet from 1990. Closet had a humidifier in it filled with old stale water and I killed 2 millipedes in the bathroom. I called for towels (there were 2 for 4 people and a baby) of which 2 hours have gone by and no towels. Front desk said housekeeping was busy “because of COVID” even though they aren't cleaning units during the week “because of COVID.” Maybe this unit, 109, is simply the worst, grossest one, but even if it is they don’t charge any less! Oh and can’t forget to mention the bed. I would guess mattress is 15-20 years old. Very uncomfortable, hard and squeaky. Pull out couch- hardly suitable for my kids to sleep on. Skip this place at all costs. You’d be better off at...
