Lake Charlevoix Coffee Company — Restaurant in Boyne City

We are in town for the holiday weekend and decided to stop in at this coffee shop. It was 3:50pm and the doors were still open. When we got into the coffee shop it smelled amazing and we knew this would be good coffee and we know good coffee. We have roasted our own coffee beans and my husband has past barista experience.

The huge disappointment was that the minute we started walking up to counter the lady immediately and abruptly said they stopped taking orders and could not make any more drinks. No greeting or “welcome to this coffee shop.” Just pretty much the message was “go away” bc they were busy trying to clean up and finish the few drinks they were making and it was not even 4pm yet! My husband and I were a bit shocked bc their doors were open and it wasn’t even 4pm. As their sign in the photo I took says they are open until 4pm.

My husband and I both own our own businesses and this was not good customer service at all!! The lady who spoke to us was very short and not nice at all!! I even asked if we could just get a brewed coffee and she immediately said “no” because they were out of that. The drinks we were going to get would have been simple - Americano and an iced coffee drink.

Customer service was definitely not a priority here today and they were much more concerned about closing as soon as they could, even though it was not 4pm yet when we walked in the doors.

If you’re gonna be open till 4pm then stay open and serve your customers that come in till then. Don’t start closing down and cleaning up before your closing time. That is just poor customer...

Atmosphere +1 🌟 Such a coffee house feel. Super welcoming and calming. I loved the aesthetic of the whole building. Facilities +1 🌟 Super clean. You can tell they take care of their customers. Price +1 🌟 For someone who loves smoothies and can make them for less than 2$ a cup at home, yes it was a bit expensive, but they were so well worth $7 a cup. I got one for 3 days straight and it was gone in about 5 minutes. Food +1 🌟 Absolutely delicious. The coffee is good and so are the smoothies. They have high quality food here. Services +1 🌟 They were so kind and joyful. Definitely the kind of people I want to see in the morning.

Overall it was a wonderful experience. I recommend taking your family or friends here for a mango or wild berry smoothie and then go sit on those adorable couches and laugh about...

Third visit update: Still a great place to enjoy a coffee and again, love the ambience, comfortable seating and reading material! I decided to edit my review of Lake Charleovoix Coffee Company after my second visit. Much better experience the second time around (103 days post last visit.) This time around there are two employees on staff working the coffee bar of which provided much better service. Both on staff were very friendly and respectful. I didn't feel that so much from the "guy" with the painted fingernails a few months ago. We'll certainly come back here in the future.
