When I, Theda Wilson aka #Thedarox aka #ThedaTurner, drove from St. Louis, Missouri to Branson, Missouri I had hopes of building great relationships and enjoying myself as I worked to secure upcoming bookings to perform in Missouri's Live Entertainment Capital! I am a singer and performer and I do a plethora of Tina Turner Tributes and I may be making more trips to Branson, Missouri in the near future to do the same.
After my long drive I decided to book my hotel stay at Baymont by Wyndham Branson - On the Strip - 1000 W Main St, Branson, MO 65616. I thought since I am a Wyndham Honors and Rewards customer and made reservations through Wyndham and completed the Pre-Arrival Check-In link they provided me Thursday, June 26, 2025 to stay two (2) nights at this location I was making a healthy and safe choice that would be without issues. Unfortunately, I was very wrong!
When I entered the doors of Baymont by Wyndham Branson - On the Strip, I happily introduced myself and provided my name and verification information. When I politely asked one of the employees, now known to me as Jeremy, if he was sure he couldn't see my reservation and pre-check-in information, he yelled at me with anger and frustration! I was totally surprised and hurt, especially since my visit to Branson had been going so well. I felt as if I was nothing and meant nothing to him. I didn't know if he was discriminating against me or just plain evil!
After receiving my room assignment I went to check out my room, #508, which was on the hot and humid 5th floor. It was freezing at the front desk below. I entered my room and found the heating and cooling unit separated from the wall. There were live bugs on the curtains decorating them as my freckles do my face! There were also huge soil stains on the couch produced from urine or possibly some other fluids. I was ready to leave immediately. The bed looked clean, but I dont think it was.
I decided to walk to locate ice for my drink that was warmed by my 4 hour drive to Branson. When I went down the hall I noticed an air vent on the ceiling that made me want to hold my breath and escape my dealings with this heart-break hotel! đ MOLD was all over the vent externally! I had no doubt the same was within the veins of the entire ventilation system running throughout the hotel! #SickBuildingSyndrome
After getting the runaround on the phone with Wyndham trying to cancel my reservation and inform them of the conditions of this hotel, I went to the front desk to request a refund to prevent my comfort, health, and sanity from being jeopardized for doing the same. I have allergies and I definitely didn't want to breathe the air there all nights and day. Mike was on duty by then. He said Jeremy left and only Lee, the manger, could provide me a refund. Mike confirmed and witnessed my leaving the hotel after I arrived.
Today is July 19, 2025 and I'm #Still fighting to receive my refund of $331.30. Receiving a refund under these conditions and circumstances would be just and proper. Thanks you for giving your attention to this matter. đ¤ 𤏠𤎠đ¨ #BuyerBewareâď¸...
Read moreCheck-in went smooth once the front desk clerk finally arrived to check us in, but the rest was a dirty mistake.
At first glance, overall the hotel did not seem too shabby. We are a military family and we travel a TON. We aren't picky. A clean room and a comfy bed and we are generally satisfied. We know that with anything if you go looking for it youll likely find it, but this time we didnt have to looking.... When we got to our room we immediately noticed the floors were filthy like they hadn't been mopped in a while. There was a note on the counter stating "Stacy" had cleaned the room and prepared it for us, but I guess 'Stacy' forgot to mop - not a super big deal but my kids socks were black just from walking across the room to change for the event we were attending. [She] also forgot to get a dirty towel that was hanging on the back of the bathroom door.
Our overall opinion of the room was that it would work for what we intended it for, as we were just in town for a graduation and wouldnt be spending much time in the room. So, we didn't make a big fuss.
Our check-out time was supposed to be 11am, but we began receiving texts at 9am that we needed to start the checkout process, and shortly after 9a someone attempted to enter our room - they were met with the double lock and our sevice dog and quickly left us alone.
Less than an hour after we checked out, I received a security alert for my credit card. When I checked, it showed that Baymont had tried, not once but twice, to take additional money from my credit card. When that did not work, they attempted (successfully unfortunately) to take the money from our backup payment method. I immediately called the front desk to investigate the additional charge. The front desk clerk had no idea what I was talking about. Upon further investigation it seems that HOUSEKEEPING took it upon themselves to charge us for a "a stain on the comforter.) We book a double queen, pet friendly room. Our children ended up staying with nearby family and one of the beds was never used other than to hold our luggage. I asked the clerk if it was customary for housekeeping to charge for a stain BEFORE washing the items and was told it would require further investigation and I would receive a callback, but the short answer was Yes, Baymont in Branson apparently allows housekeeping to have full access to guest accounts and payment information.
As of this review, I have yet to receive a callback with more information regarding the stain...
20+ years of traveling all over the Continental U.S. I have NEVER had a housekeeper have access to my payment information, and then have the authority to freely charge me on their own without some sort of proof of DAMAGE. We are still unsure of what the stain is/was, as stated only one of the beds was used. We arrived from our event at midnight, went to sleep, woke up at 9a to being rushed out,...
Read moreOverall, at a quick glance, this hotel is and looks nice. However, when you begin to look closely...you'll find some things to be critical about, and even to complain about. I'm not one to be overly negative, but I do consider myself honest, and want to help others know what we saw, went through, and experienced.
The rooms are clean, and decent. Thankfully, we had a pretty view of the back of the hotel, which felt like a nice little getaway. We had some issues with our remote control not working too well, and also...it appeared that the cleaning staff left some of their cleaning supplies in the room. We don't have small children that could have accessed it, so we werent too concerned about that. But otherwise, the room was nice and we didn't really have complaints.
We stayed here, strictly to be able to have a pool to swim in, and a hot tub to relax in.
We went into the pool room on the first evening we stayed there, and immediately noticed the overwhelming smell of chlorine. We didn't think much of it, because...well...it is a pool after all, and many of them do have chlorine in them.
We got in the pool, we had some time in there, and it wasn't too long after that we had trouble breathing, and were overcome with the strong chlorine. We noticed that a couple of other people seemed winded, and got out and just sat in the chairs nearby. We don't know if they equated it with the chlorine, or how they felt because we didn't actually ask them....but we knew how we were feeling, and we knew the chlorine was overwhelming and super strong.
A couple of us had water get in our eyes (naturally, in a pool....right?!) but, unlike many other standard pools, it burned so bad...that I had trouble breathing...just with how strong it was. (I'm also very, very sensitive..so... I'm not sure if it was more the cause of the chlorine, or just my body being sensitive!?)
We tried the hot tub...still...the same.
We are unsure if anyone else let the staff know, but we did. They told us they'd test the levels in the morning.
We checked back in the morning, and they said the levels are within normal range.
Sooo....we went down there to the pool area, to see if it was different or the same from the night before, and it seemed to be the same.
We were so super bummed out, because our whole weekend, we wanted to be able to swim as much as we wanted...and hang out in the hot tub, but couldn't because of this issue.
We don't believe they actually checked it, or if they did...they didn't seem to care that the chlorine seemed extra high. It was bad.
Staff really wasn't all that helpful, unfortunately. We will not ever be staying here again, nor will we recommend this hotel to anyone...
