Absolutely terrible service is all I want to say. Repair was good, the technician/owner of the shop obviously knew how to fix a guitar. Everything else about my experience was horrendous. I brought in an Epiphone Les Paul Special. Usually listed for around $400 as these are NOT the top notch models. Very common guitar knowledge, also very common knowledge that these necks will often break up around the headstock. I had a pretty ugly break in this exact spot. Jagged edges, completely separated headstock from the guitar, the whole deal. This was the ONLY thing I needed fixed. The repairman fixed everything that was wrong with the guitar and I was charged $4 short from SIX HUNDRED dollars. I was charged more than what the guitar was purchased for. Not only was I practically scammed but I was receiving terrible service every time I went into the shop, and POOR, and I mean incredibly poor communication while the guitar was being worked on. The owner of the shop is nothing short of condescending, unprofessional, dishonest, and disrespectful. You are better off driving 40 minutes up to Guitar Center in Springfield, as they will likely not do this to a high schooler just trying to fix his Grandfathers guitar. Thank you...
Read moreBe very careful with this place. My husband brought our son's guitar here for an apparent minor fix. The owner found other "wrong" things and ended up charging a repair price of almost DOUBLE the original price of the guitar. Absolutely get an estimate from this business before committing your instrument to him.
Edit: An estimate was never provided prior to repair. This was a new, beginner model ($90) guitar, which should be apparent to any musician. A repair should never cost more than the product; we could have just replaced the guitar practically twice over with what this repair cost. Just posting our experience as a warning to others to absolutely get an estimate in writing before committing to any repair at State...
Read moreI took a Banjo Ukulele in for restoration. We were lucky that the head was intact. Steve renewed the finish on the instrument, provided new strings, keys, and other items. He quoted me the price at the beginning, and charged me what was quoted. I am very pleased with an instrument that has family history (it was my father-in-law's), and is now being used by my music teacher daughter. I am ready to take in my 50 year old guitar to have him do the...
