One of the poorest stays we have had in a Marriott.
-Chemicals were way off in the pool. The hotel dismissed our concerns and said they did check the chemicals and said they were fine. Their assessment can't be correct. My spouse and kids were only able to stay in the pool for 20 to 30 minutes and their lips became very dry and numb, their eyes hurt, and their skin was tingly. Our daughter's hair became very brittle and snarled to the point that we had to wash it 3 times. I finally had to use about a 1/4 cup of conditioner and brush it through and let it set. The pool chemicals completely stripped her hair of natural oils. Her hair was a little better the next day, but we've never seen that happen before. Also, a rough part of the pool scratched my spouse (pic attached). The pool also did not have towels and the door stopped working/recognizing key cards.
-We had no functional TV when we checked in. The front desk wasn't very helpful. They said to just unplug it and plug it back in. After pulling the entertainment center away from the wall, we discovered that the wires were all disconnected. We had to plug them back up, restart the modem, and it finally worked. Nothing like having to work to get your hotel room fully functionalđ
-No coffee in the lobby. They only put it out for breakfast and snatch it back as soon as breakfast is over. If you were hoping for flavored creamer and more than one cup of regular coffee from your room, don't miss breakfast!
-The room itself wasn't bad. It could have been cleaner, but I didn't feel the need to clorox anything so that was good. The rooms don't have enough towels for 4 people so you will have to ask for more.
-At breakfast, one of the front desk workers was speaking loudly and said she might be getting sick. She was also blowing her nose a lot. If you are immune compromised, I recommend wearing a mask in the...
Read moreOur family travelled to visit relatives over the Memorial Day weekend and had an excellent experience at the Spring Hill Suites Bridgeport Hotel! The staff were fantastic, immediately responding to our call that our room's AC unit was not working (they moved us to another room) and to our requests for additional towels and toiletries. The hotel's décor is stylish and updated, and the hotel was extremely clean. The beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows, too. Our twin 5 year-olds especially loved the indoor pool which was conveniently located just steps from the elevator, making a quick return to our room easy after swimming. The bathroom was huge, bright and very clean! My only recommendation would be to request a non-slip mat for the tub as it's porcelain and was naturally slick when wet. There is a sign in the bathroom indicating that a mat is available upon request. The FREE continental breakfast was very good! Make-your-own Belgian waffles with fun toppings (PB, Nutella, syrup, and other fun toppings like chocolate chips, almonds, walnuts, and dried fruit), 2 hot protein-rich offerings of eggs and bacon or sausage), 4 varieties of cereals (2 kid friendly and 2 granolas), Activa yogurt, skim & 2% milk, juices, coffee (not a coffee drinker so I can't attest to its quality), breads and muffins, and fresh fruits - bananas, oranges and apples. The breakfast attendant did a crackerjack job keeping everything stocked!! Although the hotel was very full (holiday weekenders and travelling little league baseball players and their families), we were not bothered by noise from any neighboring rooms either beside or below ours (we were on the top, 4th floor so no one was above us). Overall an excellent experience!!! Thanks for making our stay so wonderful! We will...
Read moreStayed here one night while I was in the area for a family event. I was really pleased! The entire hotel was clean and the room was spotless! There was a good breakfast selection - scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, oatmeal, pastries, cereal and DIY waffles along with coffee, juice, milk and water. The friendly young lady that was working the breakfast area kept everything supplied and the area clean.
I called in my reservation and the young lady (Melinda) that took the call was super friendly and answered all my questions about the property. She even gave me a tip on where to get the best pepperoni rolls in the area! Turns out that she's the customer service manager. It's obvious that she takes a lot of pride in what she does and she works well with her crew to have a great hotel.
The hotel is located at I-79 and US-50 - super convenient location. In spite of the proximity to the highways there was no road noise in the room or even while we were spending time on the outdoor patio.
Two observations/comments: 1) The pool is pretty small - maybe 8' x 20'. If you just want somewhere for the kids to splash around a bit, it's fine, but with 3 or 4 adults in it, it would be pretty crowded. 2) They need to upgrade their eating utensils to the next higher quality. While they're fine for eggs or oatmeal, trying to cut my waffle into bite sized pieces was a challenge with the flimsy fork and knife. I'd suggest that owners try to cut a waffle with them and they'll see what I'm talking about. (I was able to eat my waffle anyway! :) )
Overall, a GREAT place to stay. Melinda and her crew will take great...
