Visited this place while traveling. Actually was seated at a table across from the owner as he entertained friends for Mother's Day lunch. With that in mind, one would think the service would be a step up even from normal!!
Right?
Wrong!!
I ordered a Ribeye sandwich and chips that they make fresh. Thinking that this would be a Cheese Steak sandwich using sliced Ribeye steak! Omgoodness NO! It was a 1/4" piece of Ribeye steak that was impossible to eat normal sandwich style. So I had to use the steak knife that came when the food was served. No problem 😊 except the plastic serving tray had a piece of paper to separate from the tray. Can't cut a tough sandwich on (now wet) paper without destroying the paper and shredding it into tiny pieces that were now getting mixed into my sandwich.
No worries, I'll just ask the waiter for a plate when he comes back in a couple minutes to ask about my meal.......
2 minutes go by
5 minutes go by
.....sandwich getting cold which means the meat is getting tougher 🤔 so I continue to cut and eat my sandwich.
8 minutes go by
23 minutes goes by. YES 23
He didn't come back until I literally yelled at him as he passed by (two tables away) going to his guests seated outside.
Note: maybe he was a great waiter, who assigned separated tables like this ??
"Can I get a refill on my tea please... and..."
He was off again. Owner just sat there enjoying his meal and friends.
6 more minutes..... waiter comes back and asks if there will be anything else as he places my bill on the table? ..... you guessed it, no tea!
63 minutes total time for a sandwich, homemade chips and one glass of tea.
Owner and friends were saying goodbye as I paid my bill, he asked 'how was it'?
I replied..... "better than Wendy's"
I don't think he got it, he just laughed and walked away too. At least now I know who trained the...
Read moreBrickside was awesome last night!! We had a party of 17 for a wedding rehearsal dinner. We made the reservation on Wednesday for Friday. And Friday morning we had to add 2 more. We ended up with 13 adults, 2 teenagers, and 2 5 year olds. The staff took it all in stride and were very accommodating. 2 of us arrived early to make sure we were all set, and they had set aside an area off the bar for us. I'm embarrassed that I didn't get our server's name, but she was obviously pregnant, and I only mention that as a way to identify her. She handled everything beautifully. We ordered appetizers before people started arriving so they wouldn't have to think about what to order. Then folks arrived and their drink orders were quickly taken. Appetizers arrived in a decent time frame. The buffalo chicken dip and fried mushrooms were awesome! Then our server got everyone's order easily. Drinks were topped off on a regular basis and everyone was good. The food arrived and as far as I could tell everything was correct. Everyone liked their burgers, salads, and ribs. No complaints on taste or volume of food. We had a lot of take home containers. Overall we really liked this "Cheers" type of place. It was comfortable and welcoming. And all the staff were friendly and helpful. We initially had planned on going to a bigger chain type place, but once we arrived in town we saw Brickside and decided to go there instead. It had great reviews and was close to our hotel. We also like to support local businesses wherever we travel. Would totally recommend this place and will return when we come...
Read moreGood experience, nice evening, was out for a girls night with a plan for drinks and appetizers. I ordered a WV themed margarita and it was Delish!!! We got the Bangin Brisket Nachos, loaded potato skins, and pretzel sticks. The potato skins were great and the pretzel sticks were on point! We had high expectations for the Bangin Brisket Nachos but I felt they were dry, not very flavorful (no side sauces or dressings to help with that) and it was not a very good mixture of flavors to me. It was homemade potato chips (great texture) with humongousstrips of brisket that were very difficult to separate and eat with your hands with what I felt was a very small portion of barbecue sauce sprinkled over the brisket. There was cheese involved but not enough that made up for how giant the chunks of meat were mixed through the chips and there was dry coleslaw on top. The whole experience was an odd mixture of flavors which I believe would have mixed better with more wet ingredients or at least with wetter coleslaw or some type of dip IMO. It was a beautiful presentation of the food though, the waitress was super sweet and helpful, and it was a great atmosphere for my sister, my niece, and I to all just visit and enjoy ourselves! Definitely easier to hear each other inside closer to the bar if you're going to visit and really want to hear someone and talk to them, there is live entertainment outside on the weekends especially it's a nice atmosphere if you want to spend time with someone while enjoying...
