I recently stayed at Courtyard Atlanta Executive Park/Emory to celebrate my birthday and attend the Beyoncé concert — a weekend I was genuinely looking forward to. Unfortunately, the experience at this property was disappointing on multiple levels. Upon arrival, the front desk associate was not present, and once he appeared, there was no proper greeting or welcoming demeanor. He was unclear and unhelpful when we asked about splitting the payment at check-in. As a result, the full charge ended up on my friend’s card, which caused unnecessary stress.
The most unacceptable part of the stay was the lack of cleanliness. Upon entering the room, I found pubic hairs on the toilet and washcloths, which was extremely disturbing. When I tried to contact the front desk to report the issue, I called five times with no answer. I later found the front desk staff member working in the bistro, cooking — not where guests should have to track someone down for help. His response was dismissive and unprofessional, even saying I “shouldn’t have cleaned the toilet,” despite me showing him photos for documentation.
On top of that, housekeeping brought the wrong items (sheets instead of towels) while we were in the middle of getting dressed for dinner, and on Sunday morning, the alarm clock — clearly left set by a previous guest — went off three separate times between 6:24 and 6:44 AM, disrupting our sleep yet again.
The overall lack of professionalism, unsanitary room conditions, and poor communication created an experience that was the opposite of relaxing — especially frustrating for what was meant to be a celebratory trip.
Though I did contact the General Manager and was issued a partial refund, the email I received was defensive, overly corporate, and lacked real empathy or accountability. That follow-up only reinforced my decision to share this review so others are aware.
I expected better from a Marriott-branded hotel, and unfortunately, this property did not deliver.
While I did receive a response from management, it came off as more defensive than apologetic. Rather than sincerely acknowledging my experience, the email focused heavily on justifying the hotel’s actions — referencing security footage without audio, denying certain claims, and sidestepping responsibility with phrases like "I’m not a dermatologist" when addressing cleanliness concerns. What I expected was empathy and ownership, especially after spending money to celebrate a special occasion. Instead, I received a condescending, overly corporate response that minimized my concerns. This experience — both at the hotel and in the follow-up — was disappointing and not reflective of the level of care Marriott brands...
Read moreFor the most part, I had a pleasant stay at this location. Check in and Check out were easy. The location for what I was doing on my visit, was perfect. Also, I felt that the staff working at the Bistro at breakfast time were extremely nice, efficient and worked really hard. I thought that the room appeared to be clean, however, on my last day staying here, I awoke to find a large cockroach on the floor, near the door into the hallway. I was absolutely disgusted! When I contacted the front desk, they were switching over shift. So, I was told they would pass the issue onto the person taking over. I was told to let them know when I was leaving the room and they would send someone to spray. Cool. So, I had to get ready for the day with a cockroach in my room? When I got to the front desk, the new staff person had no idea what I was talking about. She proceeded to tell me that she "didn't have a man" to take care of the issue at that time. Strike two. I calmly asked that the issue be taken care of before I return that evening. So, when I returned to the hotel at the end of the day, I spoke to the front desk again. The new staff person, again, did not know what I was talking about when I brought up the issue. She told me the room "should have" been sprayed. When I asked if it "should have been" or if it actually was, she said it was. All I know is that the cockroach was gone. When I expressed my extreme disgust with the bug situation, she casually responded that these things happen. In fairness, yes, this is a hotel. I'm sure they cannot control everything. However, they CAN control how they manage cleanliness and customer service concerns. To my surprise, not one of the three staff people I spoke to apologized for the situation or even offered to take care of it right away. Then, when I emailed the assistant general manager, I received no response. After spending nearly $800 for my stay, I think they...
Read moreLocation: The hotel is located in a great area right off Interstate 85, in the busting N Druid Hills Area. I love how it was nestle away but still steps away from everything. There was ample parking and you definitely feel safe as Brookhaven Police often patrols and sits in the parking lot.
Customer Service: Upon arrival, I called hotel just to get some basic information in which I'm on of those people, as it helps gauge the initial customer service to determine the rest of the customer service for the duration of the trip. I can not recall the agent's name but he was very kind and knowledgeable and advise me he would hold a reservation for me. When I did get to the front desk, the same gentlemen I spoke with on the phone greeted me and checked me in, it took no more than 10 minutes if that. He advised me of some local places to eat and that the pantry was open 24 hours for guests convenience.
Room: The room was decent, it wasn't the latest and trendiest, but for the price and location is was a good deal. The room was ample size, as it had a desk, queen size bed, and sofa. The bed was very clean and comfortable. The desk was very large and I was able to use all my devices on it comfortably. The room also contained a sliding door in which you could open and gain some fresh area and look out over the pool and courtyard, I felt this was the best part of room in my opinion and at night it has lights and everything, its pretty cool. The bathroom was clean also and just your standard hotel bathroom. The room did include, a 32' or 42' LG Smart TV which was cool and they include Showtime free for your stay; I was able to catch up on Stranger Things on Netflix and then watch a comedy show on ShowTime.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be close to the city, but still in the feel of the suburbs. I will be...
