Veterans Vegan — Restaurant in Brookhaven

Another ATL restaurant disappointment…. ONCE AGAIN, fooled by another restaurant that is rated 5 Stars on google. These people in ATL do not have any high expectations for food. First of all, this place isn’t even under the name “Veteran Vegan” , it’s under the name of a Middle Eastern Market so it was hard to find. Second, the restaurant was completely dead, with only an elderly middle eastern man sitting down. He was very nice and hospitable though. But this place…. I was trying really hard to look pass the look of the establishment and focus more on the food. I ordered the Aloo Gobi. The elderly man got up and proceeded to go to the kitchen to cook my food. The food was ready in 7 mins. This food wasn’t fresh of course, it was preserved in the refrigerator and he just heated it up. So the food comes. I thought Aloo Gobi was suppose to be like a greenish golden color like curry, but this aloo gobi was RED like they splashed some Red #40 in it. The aloo gobi tasted FREEZER BURNT like it’s been in the freezer for too long. Freezer burnt so bad that the flavor didn’t even matter. The rice was hot, but due to the taste of this old aloo gobi, i was so disappointed. The meal was cheap at $12 but still… this makes no sense how this restaurant has 5 stars. The best indian food is here???? Where!????????...

This is such a lovely place. Not only is their vegan menu delectable the people there are the absolute kindest and always go above and beyond to accommodate us. We've eaten here three or four times and look forward to returning many times again.

*Edit: my husband and I have now eaten here at least ten times. It's actually the only restaurant in Atlanta we care about coming to while we're in the area. We dined inside for the first time today and the people were so kind and helpful. The food was delicious as always. I even grabbed some lentils from the grocery store part on my way out. We will definitely...

We had a wonderful lunch outing at this "restaurant" which is more like a tiny little service counter with some tables in the back of a grocery store. You would drive right past it if you didn't know better because it is part of a strip mall. But we had a chance to spend lots of time with the owner who was so accommodating. The food was also very delicious and a massive quantity for the price. Fantastic...
