This is the most unhelpful and disagreeable staff of any campground I have visited in my over 40 years of camp life and over 400,000 of traveling. While I have been a regular at Johnsons for more than 20 years, this visit will be my last. They said on 2 occasions that customers had complained about my puppy's barking. When I confronted the front desk guy and informed him that allegation was untrue, he admitted that no customer had actually complained about my dog (only general complaints of other dogs that were left unattended in the campers). Also, he acknowledged that my dog was only barking when I was unloading my truck (5 to 10 minutes) at 10am not barking "all day" as he first falsely alleged. Two days later I went outside to change batteries on my external sensors, and my puppy barked (less than 5 minutes) at 10am. Again management sent an employee to give me a message that (1) my dog was barking all day and that (2) they had received complaints. The owner admitted that both statements were false. The only complaintant was the owner and another dog was barking earlier that day near the office. Apparently ANY barking is unacceptable. This campground now requires no occasional barking dogs or dogs to be muzzled. So if your dog barks occasionally, beware. Also, if you point out the lies of the staff, the owner will threaten to expell you from the campground (and forfeit your paid reservation). As an attorney, I find the owner's legally baseless threats to be abusive behavior. Regardless of the not pet friendly atmosphere, the owner and her staff are instructed to make false accusations against their guests and to threaten legally insufficient basis for eviction. NOT PET FRIENDLY!!! NOT CAMPER FRIENDLY!!!

Pros: booking was simple and when wanting to extend our stay a couple more days before coming they found a way to not have us move halfway through to a different site which was super nice! Location was perfect. Right by Going to the Sun Road and had pretty good views (depending on your site). Cons: They just redid the septic and our hose (15ft) couldn’t reach it. Looks like it’s that way for all FHU sites. They put it in SO far from the water and electric box and right by the road which made us go buy another hose for extension from the office which was $40 in order to reach it. Showers - while we had FHU our friends did not and they had to buy coins for the showers. That’s not the bad part. They were only given 6 minutes (1 token) of showers per night they stayed. They were not able to get more. Laundry - $4/per cycle. Washer cycle $4. Dryer cycle $4. So expensive. The spaces between campers was a little cramped but I could let that one slide. Speaking of slides, this big berry bush made it so cramped and was scratching on our slide and windows whenever it was windy. Oh and we also got a kiddy sized picnic table!! 😂

I brought my dad to Glacier for the first time in his life and we stayed at the Campground for 3 nights. Honestly I could not have had a better time here. The campground is a 5 minute drive from the entrance of Glacier. The bars and restaurants in town (there are only a few) are a 5 minute walk from the campground as well. If you want to walk to the St. Mary's Glacier Visitor Center it's only a 20 minute walk. Our neighbors were nice and quiet and the campsite was great. The bathrooms and showers were great to use as well, which made the load out super easy. The thing that made this entire experience for me was the fact that I was able to see and shoot the northern lights from the areas in the campground! I was also able to see and shoot the milky way as well. I have camped all over the country and never had anything like this! Could not recommend this campground enough, I will definitely be back!

We stayed here 4 nights in July 2022. I have read some reviews prior to reserving here. Let me address some things other reviewers have said about this campground. 1st. I've stayed in many private RV campgrounds. It is not a surprise to me to know that the sites are closed together. I have no problem with that. After all, it's a private park. 2nd the sites aren't leveled. I alway carry leveling blocks in case the jacks extend to the fullest. I learned that when I bought my rv 4years ago. So it wasn't an issue for me that the 2 sites I stayed at weren't leveled. 3rd as far as the sites not being maintained, I don't know what their definition of maintained mean. To my opinion they are maintained well. Now onto my review. The site is on a hill which means 2 things. 1. You get an awesome view no matter what direction you face. 2. It gets windy so don't leave you awning out or your tent unattended. Open your windows and let the fresh cold air come in the rv. If you need to walk to the office, they have 2 trails that take you there. They have a laundromat which used coins, and there is a coin machine on site, a café, and showers. To use the showers, the staff gives you a token per person per day. The showers last 6 minutes which in my opinion it's enough time. It's good to take a hot shower in a space larger than the RV shower, my opinion. The sites are clean, and the staff is very friendly. Their quite hours are from 10pm - 7am. They have cabin, and about 80 tent sites. They do have Wi-Fi, but uphill doesn't work. It works on the sites closest to the office.

FOR THOSE WHO HAVE RVs LARGER THAN 21FT, AND WANT TO VISIT THE ST. MARY ENTANCE AT GLACIER NATIONAL PARK, THIS MESSAGE IS FOR YOU. The St. Mary entrance to the Glacier National Park has a 21 ft max length. You will be turned around. They lady in the office told me they do accommodate those people that have a motorhome, travel trailer or 5th wheel. They can leave their RV at the campground for a daily fee while you go visit the park. That is a nice thing they do. If you can't get a reservation inside Glacier National Park, reserve it here. It is almost infront of the St Mary entrance road amd it's just as good. We will for sure come back again...

This place definitely has a decent location. The campsite we had was spacious and you could see the mountains in the distance. Great place for viewing the stars. We did have a fire pit which we were able to use at the time. We were on a 10 day roadtrip and I would say out of all the places I liked this one the least when it came to amenities. First Im sure i rented an Electric site and got a primitive one. It was expensive to stay there for it just to be primitive camping. I base a lot of my reviews off the bathroom. These ones sucked. The same smashed bugs where on the sink the whole three days we stayed there. Much didn’t look like it was cleaned . I cleaned the toilets myself. The showers they give you tokens in which it gives you six minutes. The first shower I used never got hot so I used two tokens just for the water to never get hot. Then switched over to another shower where the water did get hot so I used all of my tokens for one shower . Typically I could’ve just took a cold shower but it was like 35 outside and all the windows were open in the bathroom so it wasn’t warm either. Definitely was an uncomfortable time. Which also lead me to only taking one shower the whole time there. The other issue I had was with the laundry dryers. We came with a group of people so we all used and shared the washer and dryer’s. My friends stuff dried early so they where gonna let me use there dryer to finish mine. I had a little bit left on my washer so wasn’t able to put them in right away. Well there dryers run the time down even if your not using them so you have spend extra money. By the time my clothes where done the time on her dryer ran out which was about 15 minutes. Definitely kinda sad. I would say they try to suck up as much of your money as possible due to the location there in. I was hoping for better as a watched a video where someone loved this campground. Only reason I’m giving it 3 stars in the location is great. Everything else was subpar . If I’m in the area again I would more than likely stay...
