We checked in after a day of riding and walking the caverns. After relaxing a while it was shower time., and we found 1 washcloth, 1 hands towel, and 3 bath towels for a reservation for a room for two. Were we to share a washcloth? When we called the front desk we were told to come down if we needed something. How hard is it to fix what you didn’t do? There is a drip in the shower that we couldn’t stop so we set the fan to constant to drown it out. There is also a the top drawer in the TV console that works its way open and just hangs there. We stuffed a sock in it to hold it closed. We went to bed and got up for breakfast to find only gluten free waffle mix. We had the choice of plain or chocolate gluten free. When I asked for regular waffle mix, I was told that they don’t have any. Why would they expect at least 95% of the population to eat that stuff to cater to probably less than 5% of the population! Wouldn’t a better choice have been to have regular and gluten free and chocolate chips on the side to be added for those who cannot eat a waffle without chocolate? My daughter is the only one in our family with gluten problems and while we accommodate her, we don’t make everyone else eat that stuff. I have tried to eat it in solidarity with my daughter, so yes I know what it tastes like. There are far more diabetics in this country, but the pastries had not been replaced with sugar free to cater to that population. No wash cloth, shower leak, haunted drawer, crappy gluten free waffles only….we expect much better as long time customers and we only stay at LaQuinta when available when we are traveling. Very disappointed in...

However, upon arrival we were informed that they did not have a room to honour our reservation for a double bed and that they would arrange for a room at a dive hotel down the road. When we pressed further for an explanation about why our 2+ month old reservation would not be honored the receptionist said it was because we made our reservation through the corporate website. This was unacceptable because we were meeting family at this hotel. And, we told them we had zero interest in staying at a much lower quality hotel for the same price. We told them we were going to contact La Quinta customer support directly to get this ridiculous situation resolved. At that point, the receptionist miraculously found a room with a pullout sofa and a king bed.
I simply don't understand why the receptionist simply didn't offer the room with the pullout rather that attempt to move us to another hotel.
We almost always try to stay at La Quinta when we go on this trips two or three times a year. But, this was likely the worst treatment I have ever had with a hotel. I'll still consider La Quinta in the future but, I am wary about using this hotel...
Read moreOverall, this La Quinta is exactly what you would expect except that the staff is inattentive and not competent.
When our room was not serviced, I called the front desk and asked why. I was informed (late afternoon of May 21, 2023) that the governor of New Mexico had extended COVID restrictions so that housekeeping was not allowed to go into my room due to the governor’s special rules. This was a bald-faced lie that the staff member invented. Notably, no other COVID restriction were in place (no masks, distancing, etc.) reinforcing the absurdity of this staff member’s lie.
Note that housekeeping here is on an “as requested basis” here. They will clean your room only if you request it.
I had to call twice to get a squirt of WD40 on the very squeaky door hinges in the room's bathroom. The staff member who did this maintenance sprayed WD40 all over the back of the door and on the floor.
The stairs were covered in mud. I reported this mud on May 20. The same caked on mud was still present on May 23.
One good feature is that the shower had terrific water pressure. The room was clean and quiet. The location is excellent for visiting the National Parks. The breakfast was simple,...
