Unfortunately what could have been a truly memorable visit to Carmel, ended in disappointment. The hotel itself is lovely, albeit hot (at least during the second week of August). There is no air-conditioning, and while I'm sure the weather is pleasant enough during most of the year, this particular stay was uncomfortable. That said, the location, amenities, and décor were very nice. They also provide a nice organic breakfast which is included. Unfortunately, we needed to checkout one day ahead of schedule do a situation at home with one of our kids, which required us to fly home sooner than we had planned. I'm sure most can relate to this situation. We asked if we could check out early, and without penalty. At first the desk service person said she didn't think so, but would ask. We then received a call to our room telling us that they understood and would issue a credit. She explained that she herself could not, but as soon as the next shift came in, it would be done. The afternoon office attendant knew how to process the credit. Also, we were asked to vacate the room before 9:00am so that they could place another guest in the room. Apparently rom number 1, is popular, as it does have one of the best views. The credit was never issued, and after weeks of calling and being told they would look into it, we finally communicated with a corporate representative who stated that there would not be a credit issued, and that the front desk person/office attendant, did not have the authority to give anyone a credit. While we can most certainly appreciate a hotel cancellation policy, were promised a credit as a kind gesture by a representative of the hotel, then asked to vacate immediately. This is poor customer service and not good for...

Initially, things went smooth check in was easy. Upon entering room there was a small bug on the bed sheets. never gave it any thought, killed it and moved on. Left room with my dog in it for 10-15 minutes, if that. Receptionist by name of Kristine calls and states " your dog is barking uncontrollably and if need be we will call animal control," (My dog does very well alone especially for 10-15 minutes) then receptionist states" oh your out at dinner huh". Rude as can be. So I immediately came back to my hotel room hoping my dog was still there. Stated to Kristine I wont be staying here at this establishment, I can care less about what I paid for the night, no refund needed for anything and if there was fee for leaving dog unattended please charge me. I then asked Kristine for number of the manager in which she states was unavailable to her multiple times. After probably 10 times asking that I would like to speak to someone in management, she dials a number on the phone and just hands it to me silently. I asked who will I be speaking to, she states "the manager". I replied "funny thought that number wasn't available to you". Manager was no help and was over the whole situation so I started to pack my room to leave. THE CHERRY ON TOP WAS SEEING A GIANT BUG ON THE PILLOW AS I WAS LEAVING. I showed the video of the bug to Kristine and she wasn't concerned of course. Must be a routine...

Would not recommend. Due to a computer snafu, I had to redo my reservation, and it ended up looking like one reservation was made on my end (received only one confirmation email for the second reservation attempt), but two reservations on their end. When I checked in, I was told I had reserved two rooms and would be be responsible for the non refundable deposit and “maybe” the rest. The next morning, our breakfast was delivered 47 minutes late, and when I brought this to their attention, was told that I had requested the delivery an hour later than I actually did (despite written proof of the actual, requested time). After these two instances of being told that my mistakes were the the root of the mistakes, I was essentially done. The room smelled, the promised “free parking” was a handful of “first come, first serve” spots, we did not receive daily housekeeping OR the daily towel refresh that I requested, there was insufficient hot water for all 4 members of my family to shower daily, and the room was insufferably hot overnight. We checked out a day early, and to their credit, did refund us for leaving early. We were not charged for the fictitious second room, although I had to mention this repeatedly to get that resolved. The only advantage to this hotel is location. I do not recommend...

We went to Carmel for a weekend weeding and booked a room at the Tradewinds. Upon arrival, we were notified that we had been upgraded to a suite which was fabulous. The room was amazing, had a fireplace (we didn’t needed because summer), 1 full bathroom and a half bathroom, the bed was very comfortable and my request for extra pillows was fulfilled before arrival to the hotel. Prior to arrival, I received some texts from the hotel to confirm/verify our arrival time very convenient for us. It also includes a light breakfast every morning, which you order the night prior with a card/menu from the hotel. The staff gave us the menu upon registration and completed with our breakfast choices and dropped at the reception before 11 pm. The staff is friendly, the facilities are clean and safe, very beautiful setting and the location is great, a few steps from restaurants and shops. It is also located close to the beach. We will definitely be back to the Tradewinds.

Tradewinds is in a great location at the outer edge of Carmel just a short 2 block stroll from the hustle and bustle. Very quiet location with parking on site. Service was a bit off (maybe due to COVID) While taking my credit card details and committing to the room the front desk informed us after that there was no free breakfast (even though it is advertised) but did not feel like that was important to mention before taking my card details. We paid for a Ocean View room. You can see from my photo that is a stretch. The images here on Google and their website are a bit misleading (perhaps taken by drone or top of roof) and we felt this was at best a semi-partial view. All in all great location but wouldn't come here on high hopes of lounging on the balcony taking in the ocean view. While seated on the balcony you do get a view.. of a giant bush.

Our new favorite hotel in Carmel! We stayed here for our mini honeymoon, before we left for the week, and Tradewinds made it a memorable stay. We booked directly with the hotel and enrolled in the on a LARK CLUB which gives you extra perks like small gifts in your room when you check in and points for free stays in the future. Like most of Carmel this hotel is dog friendly, they do require a small charge for the dog. Upon arrival we given chocolate chip cookies and a small bag of dog treats and dog bags from a local pet shop. One of our favorite parts of our stay was the atmosphere of the hotel, very lush and tranquil, water flowing through the property. The rooms are wonderful, peaceful decor and fountain in your room, fireplace and jacuzzi tub with separate shower. Breakfast is delivered in a basket to your door in the morning.
