Lake Park Steakhouse
Out of Towner’s here…from Hampton and Poquoson, VA celebrating a friends 40th birthday and traveled down to Carolina Beach to share in the festivities with a friend who had moved to the area. We were going to be eating out the Air BNB but while one of the friends on the trip travelled around that date site seeing, they came upon the distinct smell of steak being cooked and the plans changed quickly…SO GLAD THEY DID. The group rallied around the idea of steak that evening and he made reservations for us at Lake Park Steakhouse.
We arrived and it is one of the coolest steakhouses I have ever been in, the Christmas decorations were still up which added to the cozy ambiance of the exposed wood, the cozy seating, the deep reds and greens and the simple warmth of the place. Jasmine was our server and she is absolutely amazing, we had a great time with her as we are or have been in the industry. With all of us staring at the menu, she introduced herself, told us the specials of the evening and brought a round of waters. There was so much to choose from, but because we did not make our reservations early enough we did not get a chance to order the Prime Rib so that it could be prepped properly. But that did not deter us in any way shape or form, they still had plenty of to choose from. So everyone looked and found what they wanted quickly and we got to play a game, Jasmine had these cool, laminated salad or side sheets, they were numbered and we were not allowed to swap with anyone or you were going to get the wrong salad. It had every option you could think of to make your salad, from four different types of greens to every topping you could imagine. We followed directions and all won the game with our salads and I had to have appetizers, I ordered the onion strings and the prime rib soup…OMG!!!!! I was not sharing the soup, not with anyone.
We then ordered our entrees and most went with the Ribeye, but I had to go with the Parmesan Crusted chicken with a potato. Everyone was happy, we did not talk to each other because we were enjoying every bite. The steaks were cooked perfectly (and they were huge), the chicken was tender and crunchy on top, we all wanted to finish our meals, but there was no way that was going to happen with the fresh bread, the appetizers, the salads and the amount of food you get.
Jasmine took our leftovers and packed them for us, we stacked our plates and cleaned up our mess (we are all in the industry) and by the time she got back with the food, we were spent. Event had some time to take a pic with Jasmine, who we love and if we come back, will make sure she is working before we come with our reservation submitted early to have the Prime Rib, lol. We know what to do this time.
But it was a great experience, delicious food, wonderful staff, beautiful ambiance and we love Jasmine. You will be lucky to have her and I am telling you, you better treat her right!!! Thank you for the wonderful evening with friends. We...
Read more⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I figured I would start by saying it deserves more than 5 stars. So I gave it 5 more. Me and my boyfriend came here for vacation and had been researching places for a good steak. We had walked by this little place a couple of times and realized it was one of the places we had read reviews on. So, we made our reservations 7/20/22. It is a very small place so I would recommend you call ahead. We were seated promptly(in fact a little early). We were waited on immediately. They have really cold beer (if that's your thing) and we ordered the bang bang shrimp appetizer. It was amazing, best we have ever had. Our waitress brings us a salad sheet where you pick what you want on your salad. You even get your pick of romaine, iceberg, spinach and a couple of others. This was perfect for me because I usually sit and pick out all the things I dislike off my salad. We then ordered our entree. So of course we ordered the ribeye (14oz for me, 16oz for him) because that was the whole point of going out for a great steak. I was really torn about the sides. I knew I had to have a baked potato, but they had brussel sprouts w/bacon. I couldn't decide, so I ordered both. I just have to tell you, when I say this was the BEST steak we have ever ordered from a restaurant, that is exactly what I mean. Every single thing we had was amazing. The steak was cooked perfect. And you know a steak is perfect when steak sauce would be a insult. Our waitress Amy, was great. She was attentive and sweet. I do need to address the reviews of it being a little pricey. This would be a place I would say, you get what you pay for. If I wanted a cheap steak, I could find a dozen places. I am disappointed that I was so full, I couldn't get their dessert. Actually, all the staff we saw working were amazing. Once a table left, it was cleaned off and ready again within a few minutes. Having been a former waitress for several years, I was impressed and would have found it to be an honor to work at such a well run establishment. This place is special. I'm glad I had the opportunity to eat here. We live in NC, so we will be back. Heck we might even drive the 2 hours back just to eat...
Read moreMade a reservation because I got tired of fighting the crowds at dinner time. 630pm comes and we're seated at a tiny booth for 2 thats almost sitting inside of the kitchen, directly in the servers path back and forth. I should have followed my first instinct and walked out. Food was mediocre....K&W at best. Browsing the menu I came across "4oz filet and lobster tail $54" "12oz prime rib $27"...it was my birthday so I went with what I felt was the safest option and got the prime rib. Meanwhile noticing how dark and dismal this tiny restaurant was, I couldn't help but have a PTSD attack by the sheer amount of noise this large group of northerners were making at the largest table in the restaurant. Banging on glasses, hollering and hawing, yelling screaming yeehaw laughing...which was all allowed with no problem by the manager and wait staff. Our food took forever to get to the table...the fries...or fried undercooked microwaved slabs of what was once a baked potato stole the show...disgusting undercooked potatoes. The baked potatoe I got with my meal was obviously microwaved, with dry paper skin and raw inedible inside fluff. My prime rib that was ordered rare arrived medium well...which may have well been a under seasoned roast. Spouse got the rib eye which was also overcooked, dethawed from being frozen and tasted of burned wood and artificial smoke. 2 waters. 2 entrees...90 bucks. The whole experience was awful...and have no idea how they managed to get a 4.7 star rating. They need to be shut down, it was just TERRIBLE. And do not say you rarely have an off night because there are plenty of people co.plaining about the exact same things Everyone that gives this place a 5 star rating has never ate at quality steakhouse. Your prices reflect this being a quality place to eat. It's just not there, you need a professional chef or two for these prices. Not a line cook or someone's mom that...
