This place is not to be overlooked! They are a small business who supports small/local businesses (from what I’m told, the coffee bean is local). When I go back, I hope Janeen is there. Or at least not a certain barista. In an especially heavy tourist area in a customer service based profession, first impressions are lasting ones.
First time we went in the owner, Janeen, was working and was genuinely friendly. I made a request that wasn’t on the menu and she knew exactly what it was and made it! Made small talk and even at 6:30 in the morning she was friendly, full of energy, and busy with customers.
We went back the next morning (October 21st) and was not greeted with any kind of warmth from the female working. Honestly, wanted to leave but 1. I support locally owned businesses 2. Janeen really left a positive impression on me the day prior. I could tell this worker was either not a morning person, did not like non-locals, or both. On a positive note, I made the same request as I did with Janeen the day prior and my drink was made fast and deliciously. We said ‘goodbye’ and ‘thank you’ as we left and didn’t get any kind of acknowledgement.
My friend went back in the afternoon that same day and said Janeen was working and remembered us/my order. He said she was friendly and made my drink extra special (I dunno if that meant extra expresso shots, extra love, etc...but it was the best).
The atmosphere was inviting with a cozy feel to it. They have on display and for sale (locally made, I assume) art which I...

Read moreI have lived in Wilmington for 4 years, 2 of those years have been on Carolina beach, and yet I had never been to this coffee shop. I’ve driven by many times but I don’t drink coffee so I never really had a reason. The other day someone was asking where they could get a good cinnamon roll on CB. Someone’s reply was majik beanz. Now while I don’t do coffee this girl does do pastries! So I had to check it out. I stopped in yesterday and although they didn’t have any cinnamon rolls they did have a giant cheese danish and many other delicious looking treats to choose from. I ordered the danish and they had a jar of Halloween cookies $1 each so I got one of those too. The danish was soft and flavorful. I didn’t go to eat my cookie until today and gasped with glee when I saw she had snuck an extra cookie in the bag. I ate one and it was very good. Not overly sweet which is a problem with some cutout cookies. This had a nice balance. I’m trying to use my self control and not eat the second one until later today but we shall see. I will definitely be back in for more pastries. The service was friendly and the...
