I recently visited Raleigh NC with my fiancé to attend a wedding and booked a 3-night stay at the Hyatt Place Raleigh-Durham Airport Hotel and would STRONGLY recommend AVOID staying at this establishment if possible. Prior to booking our stay, I had researched hotels near the airport because we had a 5:55 am departure flight so staying near the airport was the most convenient. After doing some research, we felt that the Hyatt Place was the most reasonable hotel for our stay and also looked nice in the photos, however, that was definitely not the case. Upon our arrival, we checked in and everything seemed fine until my fiancé decided to turn the heat on in our room too which the unit started filling the room with this overbearing burning odor. The AC worked fine but the heating was a disaster. Another one of the many issues were the pillows, this may be just a personal preference but I thought the pillows were horrible and offered "0" support. I like to stack my pillows for back and head support when watching TV in bed and these pillows just deflated into nothing. When I called the front desk and asked for extra pillows they told me that there were no additional pillows that were available. Not the best start to our trip but I also didn’t feel like it was a huge issue either. The following morning I stepped into the shower and noticed that the rings on the shower curtains were covered in rust! I was SO IRRITATED by this because of how disgusting the sight of this was, especially when you would expect higher standards when staying at a well-known establishment. I understand that the shower curtains in a hotel aren't changed out with every stay but when they start showing rust on the shower rings then it's completely unacceptable and unsanitary. Not only were the shower rings rusted but so was the door hinge on the bathroom door. I'm a very easy going guy but this was absolutely ridiculous. Honestly, the fact that an establishment with such a well-known reputation like the Hyatt would check their guests into a room in these conditions is seriously appalling. Now, throughout our stay, we elected to forgo room service since we were only staying for a few nights. On our last night, we were packing our luggage and getting everything ready since we had a very early flight the next morning. As we were packing I noticed that my Bose Noise-canceling headphones were missing and my fiancé noticed that a pair of her dress shoes were missing. We searched every inch of that hotel room and couldn’t find them but I already knew something wasn’t right because I never took my headphones out of my backpack and I KNOW they were in there from the day we arrived. I have NEVER had anything ever STOLEN from a hotel before. The next morning I calmly explained the situation to the front desk (knowing that nothing was probably ever going to amend the situation) and when I started by asking the receptionist if there was any way to check the key logs on the room doors to see if anyone else other than us had entered our room she immediately responded by asking, "why, are you missing things from your room?" (As if this had happened before, or at least that's the impression I felt). She said she would let the manager know when he came in later that morning and that he would look into it and contact me. 2 days went by and I heard nothing so I contacted the hotel and a different receptionist told me that he had left for the day but that she would send him an e-mail letting him know about the incident and suggested that I call back the next morning cause his shifts are from 8:00 am-3:00 pm. I called back the next morning and the receptionist transferred me to his office to which I had to leave a message cause no one answered. Absolutely unacceptable, ridiculous, and serious lack of quality standards.I HIGHLY recommend avoiding this hotel...
Read moreWe booked a room a King size Suite for Saturday (10/14/17 ) and arrived that evening. The hotel is out in the middle of nowhere but is very close to the airport so I can see the popularity. When we checked in we were greeted by a pleasant gentleman that was shocked to see us but very helpful. We requested a top floor room which was the fourth in this hotel because we wanted it to be quiet. We received that and head towards our room (note: unless you are right off the elevator it's a little journey to get to your room.) Once we got the room and can say it was nice! I was basically set up like a studio apartment with king size bed, trendy artwork, full refrigerator, tub, and two burner stove top, pretty much extended stay style. Being that in the past I've worked for a full service hotel as well as an extended stay this should have been my warning sign. So about 30 minutes into our stay and I notice a bug crawling on the wall. I tried to kill it before my fiancé notice but she did and proceeded to get in an up roar. The bug looked like a German cockroach but I can't say for sure. All I do know is that it was a bug that made us both uncomfortable the room. So I went down to speak with the front desk and proceeded to explain and show him the bug issue. He stated that "we just had them come out and spray the hotel Thursday." He was very apologetic and proceeded to discount the room $20.00 for the inconvenience. I stated that I wanted to change rooms because of the problem which he was fine with but stated that it wouldn't be on the fourth floor. This was my fear from the beginning that we would get a room that was noisy and that's EXACTLY WHAT HAPPEN! We were moved to the second floor and right when we walked in their were problems started. The room was dirty!!!! Had long hair in the mini frig, toilet continued to run off and on all night, trash wasn't taken out and the people above us had kids! (Pictures provided below) So with the kids upstairs I banged on the ceiling to get them to stop making noise at 1am which didn't help so I called the front desk again. I stated to them about the noise from upstairs which the front desk clerk stated that she would handle it. 2a.m. and still nothing was solved by this time I was very angry but we had to get up in the morning. When I woke from the worst sleep ever I immediately went downstairs and asked for the manager. Who was actually at the front desk and but was busy at the time blocking room for an event. So after waiting for 10 mins she proceeded to greet me. I stated to her all the problems that I had with the rooms and that I needed to be refunded for the room. She stated that she would take a look at the room and get back to me. I didn't see the point to look at the room especially when I had pictures of everything that I stated to her. I decided to take advantage of the free breakfast as I waited for her decision and was about to head up stairs when a breakfast staff member comes from the back and states to me in a rude way ("he you can't be down in the kitchen area with no shoes on!") By this time I'm pissed because I already had a rough night at this hotel and I was already done and on my way back to the room. Long story short they ended up refunding my money for the room but as a Hyatt Rewards Member I lost out on the point which is not fair! Hyatt is now Two for Two for bad service hotels with good or great ratings in my book. Takeaways good and bad: (If its 10pm your food options are done, bar closes earlier than stated, housekeepers are mean, they have an outdoor pool, nice fitness room, pool table, slow elevators, and because it's got extended stay features people actually...
Read moreMemorial Dy weekend stay 2025 This hotel was probably one of the worst I've stayed at. It is certainly the worst Hyatt property I've ever experienced. I understand that they can't help the flights that fly within a few hundred ft over the top of the hotel all night long and keep you awake, but they could try to do some other things to make our stay better but they don't. -The hotel is horribly understaffed. The front desk clerk was really snotty on checkin. -Pool was not yet opened on Memorial day Weekend. Still covered. -Most of the electrical outlets in our room were out or had issues. I reported but staff was uninterested and no maint ever arrived. -Desk phone wouldn't work. -The sink by the coffee pot wouldn't turn on. -The bathroom in the suite is so small that you have to go in and close the door behind you before you can sit on the toilet. -The bathroom fan broken. -The furniture is old and worn all the corners/edges are rubbed off just about every piece. -Our partners room had no hair dryer or iron. They had to come borrow ours. -There are only 4 drawers and they are very small. -The coffee pot is horribly dated. Where are the Keurig coffee pots that are in most hyatts? -No microwave in room. -The television had issues. It took almost a full minute to respond to any remote control commands. I just gave up. -There are no vending machines in the entire hotel. The drinks at the front desk are about $6. -The breakfast was a minimal compared to other hotels. The toaster broke and jammed and the fire department showed up because the lobby filled with smoke. The next day there was no way to toast any of the breads. -The only person working at 730am on Sunday had to leave the front desk to drive the shuttle. The phone rang and rang (loud!) continuously and people couldn't check out. They stood there until they gave up.
-The good thing is it had plenty of hot water and internet worked ok. -They allow dogs but have no designated pet area so everyone lets their dogs crap on the lawn in front of the hotel where you walk from your car.
We left a day early (no refund of course) to just go back home. We needed to get some sleep. There are many hotels around. Pick...
