we booked a room last minute and arrived late. I think it might have been 2AM and the front desk girl was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. and very helpful. A lot of times when you check into a hotel that late they act annoyed. ||I loved that it was so easy to find and right off the freeway. When I pulled in a noticed that the EV chargers were all blocked. Well 2 used and 2 non ev parked there and not charging. I needed to charge so I asked the girl. She informed me that there was another charger in the back. Sure enough I found it and it had a nice long cord so if it was blocked you could park 2 or 3 or maybe even 4 spots over and charge no problem. Free charging was great. ||The rooms are nice and big. I didn't shower so I can't comment on that. But the TV worked great and the bed was comfortable enough. I found it slightly firmer than I like. But I slept great.||We woke up at 9 so we missed the breakfast I can't comment about that. Luckily, the Starbucks across the parking lot was very convenient. ||The only thing I would say is that I found the hotel slightly smelly. Not only our room but the hall and lobby. ||Seems like an easy fix. The next night we got to our room in Santa monica which was an expensive upscale hotel. The valet gave me a hard time charging. Kind of the opposite experience from Best western which was supper easy. ||This hotel smelled good. The rooms were really clean. And of course the staff was nice or snobby. My point is this best western gets 5 stars because I felt more comfortable here than the fancy restaurant. And at the end of the day getting a good night sleep and charging my EV were the 2 most important things. ||I can live with cleanish. And the value for me was great. ||When I checked out the guy was again super helpful and friendly. Kind of opposite of the fancy hotel in...
Read moreFirst, the address is confusing. This site says the hotel is in Thousand Palms, but the hotel's own publicity says it's in Cathedral City. This contradiction confused our GPS, which was unable to locate the hotel at all. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere (except that it's convenient to I-10), and there's nothing within walking distance except MacDonalds and Taco Bell.|Second, we arrived with an email receipt from Best Western saying we had paid in advance, in full, and owed nothing to the hotel when we checked in. At the front desk, we were told that we had to pay in full, then and there. They couldn't explain the email we'd received. This was disconcerting.|Third, they were unable to provide a map of the area, a list of local restaurants, or any literature about local attractions, such as Joshua Tree National Park or the Living Desert Zoo. I've never experienced this total lack before. They did have a flyer from a sushi restaurant (Joyce's), which proved to be better than average. But nothing else.|They had to be reminded that we're Best Western members and so we're entitled to bottled water.|The room was very spacious, and they accommodated our request for a quiet room by putting us on the top floor (4), facing away from I-10 freeway traffic noise.|The beds were ok, but mine sloped to my left as I lay face-up. Mattresses need to be rotated from time to time. This hadn't been done.|Like most hotels today, the beds come with duvets. These are always too hot for me, so I carry my own light blanket with me when I travel.|The breakfast was typical of such places--minimal.|The gym was ok.|All in all, a slightly...
Read moreI contacted this hotel to reserve a block of rooms for our wedding guests. The person who answered the phone gave me the 800 number to call to book. I called and the 800 number, placed an inquiry and was told someone from the hotel will contact me in 48-72 hours. So here we go a week later and multiple calls to the hotel as well as the 800 number and I got no response. Ed is the general manager and for that entire week he refused to speak with me when I called. After talking to customer service I get a call from Antonio who basically made 15 different reservations. Though this was helpful this is in fact not how you reserve a block of rooms. I let it go and decided to just leave things as they were. About a month goes by and I get an email from someone saying my inquiry will be deleted. I call the number in the signature and the representative explains to me that because the hotel staff never went into the system to PROPERLY contact me about my inquiry it will be deleted. I explained what happened and asked him if he could get me in contact with the owners of the hotel. He says yes. He followed up and let me know they were out of town and will be calling me the following week. A few days go by and I get a call from Antonio at the hotel telling me that they are cancelling the 15 reservations I had made. No reason why, no clear explanation either. This is absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional. Ed the manager is AWFUL and is having his employees do his dirty work. I will take my guests and...
