I recently stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Cathedral City for 4 nights (February 27th - March 3rd) as I was attending a conference. As a participant traveling from out-of-the area and staying at this property, guests are at the mercy of hotel accommodations and safety protocols. Unfortunately, on the morning of March 2nd I started my day off by discovering that all four of my tires and rims were stolen off of my brand new 2022 Ford Explorer Timberline. When I went to the front desk to ask for cameras, I was told there was none in the parking lot. However, staff was quick to mention that there were signs that read "guests park at their own risk". Besides being completely tone deaf, she told me the next step was to file a police report. She never offered any assistance or support. Didn't even offer to call the police for an incident that occurred on their property. At this point I no longer felt like a guest of this hotel.
The police reported to me that this was not the first time this had happened at this hotel. He made several remarks, which included that the hotel should have cameras, along with a security person to walk the parking lot and property. He continued by saying this location is near the freeway and that thieves know people are asleep in the middle of the night. With no security cameras or patrol to monitor the property, in essence thieves can have a field day at the expense of hotel guests. To add more fuel to my anger and disappointment with their safety protocols. The tow truck driver told me he personally had to tow another vehicle from this parking lot a little over two weeks ago. He even showed me the area where the bricks still laid in the parking lot (even near the hotel entrance). He had to tow that guest to Riverside costing her over $1200. Since I was delivering it local, it was $455.
With all of this information, I am appalled that there is no accountability from this hotel to try and at least prevent these crimes. There are no deterrents and apparently thieves know it. It almost feels like an inside job. There's a conference this week, come take a look in our parking lot. Two identical thefts in less than three weeks is unacceptable. The police are aware of it, towing companies are aware of it, and now I want to make everyone of it!
I tried to report it to the General Manager (Jim Pulver) on Thursday. However, his door was closed and apparently couldn't be bothered. When I asked for his business card on Friday morning, the front desk said they were in his locked office. I had to ask them to write his contact information on a piece of paper. The way the staff responded to this entire incident speaks volumes of their leaders and company culture. I expected much better from any hospitality establishment that has the Hilton brand and reputation.
After reading several other reviews on Yelp and my personal experience. Jim you have way too many theft incidents occurring...
Read moreThe Doubletree Golf Resort Palm Springs has a great, quiet location in Cathedral City right on the border of Palm Springs. The views are phenomenal (see photos). The staff was top notch and took good care when things weren’t right. ||As for the rooms – they are in desperate need of refurbishment. I ended up having two rooms and here was my experience. ||Room 1 – this 4th floor room should have been taken out of their inventory! The TV and entertainment options were good – streaming options or plug in your own devices. The views from the balcony over the golf course and mountains were beautiful. The bathroom is huge and has two vanities. That’s where the good ends. The closet doors were difficult to open and made lots of noise. The furniture had lots of wear and tear. The black out drapes did not close all the way (had to use a hanger to make it truly black out) and the drapes had holes in them. The shower had dark gray in some of the grout and the shower head had lots of calcium caked on it. The worst part of the room…I woke up at 12:30am freezing cold. Turned on the heat and after 15 minutes it was still blowing cool air. 45 minutes later and the heat did not work. I ended up shutting it off and still felt a draft – turns out there was a gap between the sliding door to the patio and the stationary pane of glass and cold air was coming in that way. I had to cover myself with the other 3 pillows to have enough heat to get through the night. ||I went to the front desk the next morning at 7am to complain, especially since I barely slept. Jonathan was very sympathetic and gave me a space heater and said engineering would be up to look at the heater. Turns out, the heater and a/c in that room did not work. I left at 10:30 with engineering still not showing up and came back at 2:30 to find out they never came, the air was still blowing cool. Jonathan then changed my room to one on the 3rd floor. He was very kind and was happy to move me so that I could actually sleep. No other compensation was offered for such a shabby room with no heat - I expected at least to have the resort fee removed. ||Room 2 – this room was way better than the 1st. To start, the 3rd floor seemed more well taken care of than the 4th. The 4th floor carpet and hallways felt dirty, but the 3rd floor felt newer. The heat and a/c worked well, the drapes didn’t have holes, and the shower was clean and lacking calcium deposits. Even the toilet was newer and the closet doors worked seamless. ||I did eat downstairs at the bar one night and the food was delicious (they have gluten free options) and the drinks were fantastic. The staff at the bar and in the restaurant for breakfast were very pleasant and kind. The staff really made up for the tired rooms. So, I guess it is hit or miss with rooms at this hotel. Even the 2nd room could use a refresh and I hope they get a renovation going soon as the hotel could be a prime destination in the Palm...
Read moreWow! I've never been disappointed to this extent. Over $300 for one night, the most BASIC room possible and it was disgusting. Where do I begin? called to make a reservation, specified which room I wanted. They said they could assist me. I asked if their prices are different vs the website, girl said she'll give me a discount (around $40). I booked it. She said check-in is at 2:00 pm & checkout is at 11:00 am. -arrived on Saturday to check in at 2:00 pm....it wasn't until 4:00 pm!! We had to wait around for 2 hours (please keep in mind we have 2 young children & drove around 1.5 hours to get there). -went back & checked into our room a few minutes after 4:00 pm. Go to our room....gnats everywhere!!! Dead and alive!! Tried to call front desk to let them know, they said they couldn't change our room. Plus it wasn't the room I reserved! They didn't even care when I told them the room was wrong. We wanted a fire pit but they gave us a different type of room. -tried to make the best of it. Went to the pool. Guess what? Someone threw up in the damn pool and these nasty people who work here didn't tell anyone to get out of the pool, didn't close the pool, & didn't bother to clean it! Literally left the throw up in there (made its way to a corner in the deep end) & acted like nothing was wrong. The two spas they had were full of algae & one had a lot of debris that needed to be removed. The pool needs a lot of repairs too. -couldn't sleep good, our allergies were out of control! Well I guess if you leave dust and cobwebs everywhere it starts to irritate peoples breathing huh? The vent above the toilet had a thick layer of dust & the top of the closet shelf did too. Woke up with gnats on us & the bed. So disgusting. -used the iron before checking out. Stupid thing was broken. Burned our clothes & kept leaking water! I called to ask for a new one. Waited for over an hour, they never brought us one. Ruined a brand new shirt.
Will I return? HELL NO!!! I tried to tell the assistant supervisor about our disappointment with our stay when checking out; all she waived was the "resort fee" of $30. She straight out said "I heard about that" when I told her how we couldn't even enjoy the pool because it looked like someone threw up in there. She admitted they knew someone threw up. But no one closed the pool?!?!? Isn't this a health hazard/ concern????!!!!???? They admitted the gnats are all over the section our room was in, like it was a normal thing for guests to have in their rooms. This is the grossest hotel I've ever stayed at. I do NOT recommend and will never return! The worst part... this was for my husband's birthday, we didn't even enjoy ourselves. I feel like holiday inn would have done a better job for...
