Cathedral City locals....
Romano's, while semi-ew to the scene - is your highly sought after, neighborhood Tuscan tabernacle!
Purveying pies, salads, wangz and subs to the famished, weary and faint of heart, this joint is just what the doctor ordered; served with a side of ranch and a bowl of pepperoni awesome-sauce!!!
"Deep dishing" from Vista Chino and Landau,
::::::: sweet DONNA SUMMER!!!,
.... if this wasn't a great find!
I landed upon this Sicilian slice of Heaven after surviving the trek from LA whilst craving cold cuts void any additional (open) options around.
I dare not give a dime to Round Table and ....Pizza Hut...Domino's and Subway simply weren't going to cut it! So stepped Romano's proudly onto the forefront.
Open til' 10:30pm, this is TRULY your place to go when you've got a hankering for dough, but find yourself short of it!
$8.00 affords one a large pan pizza and the equivalent in price will "toss" ya' a fresh off the press Italian sub.
Not quite. It's more like the sweet touch of owner, Eddie's Heavenly hands. Similar to an Aesop's fable, EVERYTHING that this man touches turns to gold!
And I'm nonetheless - SOLD!
Having had 2 (or was it 3) in less than a week (I returned just hours ago), I'm hand tossing 5 stars and two enthusiastic thumbs up as while the lemon pepper and BBQ wings will have you flying, .......THE PASTRAMI, served piping hot and hand cut is a double desert HOMERUN; perfect for desert dwellers in search of some "hot stuff"!
Ahhhhhhh Romano's.
Slow service and mediocre food.
First, I am a New Yorker who has moved ot the desert. I do not expect the best Italian food int he world…but this place is so basic. If you watch them make the food the final step is to slather everything with garlic butter. Everything. Including a entrees like a chicken parm sandwich. Gross. Oh, and the chicken was chewy…like the sort of chicken you get when you let it get freezer burned and then deep fry it. Gross. And the sandwich was dry…as if there was a national shortage of marinara. Gross.
Second, I have never encountered worse customer service. The second (and last) time I went to Romano’s, I called my order in. I was quoted 20 minutes. I waited 25 minutes and drove over. I still had to wait for 15 minutes while the super slow counter help cut pizzas and folded boxes. Finally, she asked me what I ordered and then she identified my order as ‘being done’ and then ignored me for another ten minutes while she made a pizza. I could see my entree waiting for me on the counter…she simply chose not to hand it to me. I finally asked if I could have it and she said, ‘oh yeah.’ What the actual F is going on here?!
Go somewhere else. Get better food and...
Read moreFor the past 6 years I have been a frequent visitor of Romano's Pizza take-out. The previous owners were fair, honest and really cared about their clientele. At some point I guess they sold the business. The only way I was aware of this exchange of ownership was in the cost of my pie. My large pepperoni with extra cheese was now $15.00 dollars. There is a $2.50 charge for the extra cheese. This new price raise for the pizza in my opinion, is a big mistake because compared to Domino's, Pizza Hut, Papa John's and Little Caesars they are going to lose customer base because nothing differentiates their pizza from the competition. The cheese, sauce and crust are standard. For me in the past it was about price and convenience that made Romano’s a standout. They have raised their prices above what would be considered normal to account for inflation, cost of ingredients, and sales help. Perhaps they are trying to pay off the loan for the restaurant in a record 12 months (LOL). I believe that once you lose that base, you have lost it for good. What a shame. Patience seems to be the secret ingredient to a successful business. (They) may want to rethink their strategy only...
