Dr. REBECCA DIAZ'S lisence has been suspended, revoked and under voluntary suspension off and on since 2012. She has a severe drug abuse problem. In the past she has been found to use her veterinary lisence to perscribe herself schedule II and 111 drugs that she abused on a regular basis. She failed to comply with probation orders of regular drug tests and continues to practice veterinary medicine at The Cat Clinic in Cathedral City, CA. She shouldn't even be open and operating The Cat Clinic and legally needs to be shut down. She is not to be trusted to be of sound mind due to her drug abuse so don't take your cat/s here as long as you care about your cat. Aside from that minor detail, on top of all that insanity, they just want to take your money. HIGHLY overpriced.I had my cat diagnosed with diabetes and they slang Lantus there. What they do is buy it in bulk and measure it out for smaller dosage needs like people with cats that only need 2-4 units a day. They charge $140.00 for 2ml where a full bottle of 10ml (you can't get smaller at the pharmacy) is $400.00. SO Instead of paying the $400 for 10ml that will go bad after 3mo. and 3/4 of it wasted I would just get the ml bottle. 10ml last me about a year. Lantus goes bad after 1 mo. So she makes almost double on the Lantus breaking it into 2ml vials. Anyway, that's not even the worst of it. After calling to request a refill I was told to be there in the afternoon to pick it up. I drive put of town to go to this place. I also work 12 hrs. a day and can take care of my errands on my day off. They told me her blood work was incomplete and if u wanted the insulin I had to bring her in for bloodwork! This is blood work that I turned into them in January!! If it was incomplete they should have told me before driving out there!! They clearly are not on top of things there! now I have no insulin for my cat. How can a vet., knowing the situation they caused, not even offer to give me enough insulin for my cat to make it through until I could brig her in for her bloodwork??? It's very harsh, uncaring, cold unethical and just downright mean and cruel to behave this way as a practice. Shame on you Dr. DIAZ and your comrades at the cat clinic in Cathedral City. you are a wolf in sheep's clothes! Your drug abuse has ruined your practice, reputation and ability as a vet. I won't ever be a client of yours again and I will warn every person that has a cat never to go to your...
Read moreWorst vet experience of my life - Cat Clinic tried to steal $600-$900 from me, and actually injured my cat.
[NOTE: I subsequently learned on the CA Vet Medical Board website that this vet's license under a different name was voluntarily surrendered in December 2018 due to a violation]
Lois is an extremely healthy and energetic 16-year-old cat (vets always comment that she presents as much younger). She has not been outside my home without me ever in her life. The Cat Clinic prevented me from going in the office with her "due to Covid." I was then told she was too agitated to examine and required IV sedation ($400 alone). They gave me an estimate of $1200-$1500 to examine her, payment required before the exam. When I asked the doctor what she thought the issue might be, she rattled off a list of conditions and invasive treatments that I would never put Lois through at her age. I told them to bring her back to me and sat confronting my healthy cat's sudden mortality.
Then, the owner of the Clinic came out and presented a revised estimate of $750-$950 (Is this even legal?). Not sure why this wasn't the first estimate, so I have to assume they had tried to take advantage of me. Since I was desperate to learn why Lois was suffering, and it is nearly impossible to get an appointment in the Valley for a new animal, I agreed to the new estimate. Was told I would receive a call in 45 minutes. Two and a half hours later, they called to tell me they had done nothing, and it would be another 5 hours before they would be finished. I told them to bring her back to me. During this process, I spoke with 4 different people at the Clinic, all of whom gave me conflicting information. When I got Lois home, her hind legs were significantly weaker than before Cat Clinic took her from me.
When I brought Lois to a different vet, she was examined with no issues (I'd given her CBD Oil - $30) and was treated for a serious UTI, which I had already figured out was the problem based on my own research. The new vet said the weakness in her legs was due to a strained pelvic ligament - which unquestionably occurred while she was being held by Cat Clinic. The entire process at the new vet took 1 hour and cost $210.
Thank God I did not put Lois through the IV sedation that Cat Clinic required to examine my cat, instead of telling me they couldn't treat her - that is animal abuse. I advise avoiding this place at all costs -...
Read morePlease save yourself-and your pets from this place!! Below is my experience with this money-grabbing, incompetent, lying and unprofessional place called The Cat Clinic. This past June, I dropped off my 16 year-old kitty, Lola, for the first time, at the Cat Clinic in Cathedral City for a consultation regarding some dark spots on her chin. I waited inside the car at a 100-degrees weather (access to the clinic was restricted due to COVID-19 rules). A very stressed-out technician met me at the parking lot and took Lolita in insisting that I do not go anywhere and wait. 2 hours later, the clinic called me saying that Lola was ready and, instead of the $89 for the consultation, I owed them $259.23 for some “plucking and rubbing”. I did not know what that meant. But, what was I supposed to do? Deny the charges? And then what, they keep my cat? I payed the bill over the phone, still sitting in my car. Once we arrived home I could not believe my eyes! It was a total carnage! Even though I had informed them that Lolita suffered from asthma and other age-related health issues, still, they went ahead with an “acne treatment” without consulting me. Lola’s chin and mouth were shaved and bleeding. She looked so traumatized! Whatever they did to my cat caused her an immense amount of trauma and two days later she was fighting for her life in the emergency room. And do you know what the WORST part of all this is-aside from Lola’s suffering? The Cat Clinic NEVER ASKED ME FOR PERMISSION to perform such treatment. And, when I called them to talk to someone about this, three times, they hang up the phone on me. To this day, the Cat Clinic denies any wrong doing. In fact, the owner, Rebeca called the situation "COINCIDENTAL" and hang up on me. I believe any decent (and humane) veterinary center who CARES for animals would want to LEARN what happened so that something like this can be avoided in the future. A treatment that I NEVER GAVE PERMISSION TO PERFORM almost killed my kitty! After a month of intensive care Lola’s shocked body and inmune system were healed and her hair slowly grew back. Dear readers, please STAY AWAY from this place. They want your money, period. The Cat Clinic should not be operating a business involving...
