PSA: I have not stayed here as an actual guest, but I spent a signifsnt amount of time here recently for a business conference I attended. I am also blind, which may have played a significant factor in my experience.
The service at this hotel seems to be “variable,” at best. At worst, the staff seems to be nice, but either chooses to ignore issues or dismiss liability.
I visited this hotel for four days in October 2024 for a business conference I needed to attend. I chose to stay at home, rather than opting to book a room at the hotel, which I think may have been a good choice. The first day I came, I had a positive first impression of the staff… they were friendly, approachable, helpful, and courteous. Or at least they seemed to be…
On day two, I came in early for a breakfast in one of the private dining rooms. One of the first things I noticed is that the wait staff didn’t seem to communicate very well with me at all, and almost seemed like they didn’t understand the questions I asked them. When I tried to ask them something, they would either just repeat what they had just said, or walk away from me and ignore the question altogether.
The next day, I had a similar (if not worse) problem during lunch service. I expected them to be aware they were serving multiple blind people and that they would address them accordingly, but they again failed in communication and didn’t even give me a meal despite pre-paying for one through the event coordinators. When I approached the front desk about this, I was relegated to the Banquets Manager, who stated that his staff was the ones serving our group through the event. When I asked him why they refused to serve me or even communicate with me about anything, he simply told me that “most of the servers don’t speak English,” which is a huge red flag when you’re in an area where that is the primary language. Rather than trying to troubleshoot solutions himself, he instead deferred me to the event organizers for my conference, which wasn’t very helpful since the main issue here was the staff—NOT the organization or the event. The Banquet Manager’s attitude towards the situation as a whole seemed rather dismissive to me, and he abruptly exited the conversation when he found someone from our group. In my opinion, he should have taken steps to avoid any similar incidents from happening for the dinner banquet to happen later that evening, but thankfully my mother came with me that night and found a server who spoke Spanish (which is her primary language, even though she speaks English very well), so she was able to communicate to her at least, but that still isn’t an excuse for how the situation was handled.
I also lost an item during the time I was there and never found it, nor did they let me know if they did. This was definitely my fault, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they just set my info aside and ignored that too.
Overall, I’m not sure how I would recommend this hotel based on the service I received, but then again the service may have been better if I was an actual paying guest staying on property, instead of a visitor attending multiple days in a row for an extended period, while going home to sleep and eat in between. I don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon, and will likely avoid recommending it to those I know, but I’m still very dissatisfied by the service shown to disabled patrons visiting the hotel, and this needs to be improved for the future. Take this for...
Read moreI am a resident of Colorado. A lot of my family was out of town on the actual day of my birthday. Because of the discount I get working for the Marriott, I thought it would be fun to plan a birthday getaway! I had a choice of a few hotels but this particular Marriott kept coming to my mind. I couldn't resist booking at this location. After staying here, I'm SO glad I did!! From the moment I arrived, everyone was so nice and accommodating! I wish I could mention everyone. For me, Diamond and Aaron were stand outs who gave exemplary service! As I spoke with them, I felt welcomed and like they really cared about me. It was fun to get to know Diamond a little bit. She is the night auditor. I used to work for a full service Marriott and started out as an auditor. I respect people who work those hours and I'm so glad I got to tell her that. She is so sweet and gave me ice cream for my big day! Speaking with Aaron, i loved getting to pick his brain about how things work at this hotel compared to the one I worked at. I truly saw myself in both of them since I've worked both of their particular shift times! You would never know Diamond worked overnight by meeting her. She really is a joy to talk to! I remember feeling tired on certain audit nights. Maybe she was, but I didn't sense that in the least! While I love working for my hotel, it was so nice to relax and feel valued as their guest. Moving on to the food. It was incredible!!! I dined at Sonomaz on Wednesday. The meatballs exceeded my expectations so much that I ordered a second appetizer to take home for after my trip. The short rib stroganoff was just about to die for! I had to have my server take away the plate before I licked it clean! I only wish I had had more bread to finish the job! Thank you to my server for giving me chocolate cake as my pre birthday gift. That meant a lot to me. I got a chance to swim in the pool the first night. The water was so refreshing after a hot day but I really wish they had a hot tub. The fitness center wasn't available during my time which was disappointing. Not enough to keep me away though. Living in Colorado, it might be some time before I'm here again. When my plans call for local travel, I will be back here in a heartbeat! I'm writing this from my hotel room. Today is my check out date and in really going to be sad to leave. Thank you so much for your kindness and for treating me like family. You really care and that touches me. I was also given concierge access. Breakfast was incredible as well! My favorite thing was the potato casserole! It was so good! I wish I could have taken more home! Looking forward to more next time. Overall, this was a truly memorable experience and birthday for me! Thank you for everything! I would highly recommend this hotel to my family and friends. Book at the Denver Marriott South in Park Meadows. You will NOT be disappointed! Looking forward to coming...
Read moreFree parking! Yay! As far as the hotel goes, this is one of the very nicest Marriott hotels I've been to. The beds are extremely comfortable, rooms are clean and well kept, the shower has perfect pressure. The atmosphere is all around wonderful and lively. Also it's very spacious in the room, enough for a crib without being in the way. They were kind enough to give us complimentary wifi which is normally almost $10 a day, they provided a code. However, it was confusing to use this code as the login page asks for your room number and last name, stating "free internet" for rewards members or free high speed for platinum and gold members or a daily charge. I didn't see a place to put the code other than last name and room number, I thought the next page would offer it. Anyway, the staff member when I got the receipt kindly refunded it but I'll explain more in my next section about this interaction. The only reason this wasn't a perfect 5 star is the staff. They were overall nice and accommodating, but a couple things were a little "off". My husband had to wait at the desk for several minutes to purchase from the marketplace at night, they came from the backroom once they appeared and my husband got ahold of them by using the phone but the elevator. No bell or phone at the front desk. Also, unlike other Marriott hotels, you have to ask for your receipt at the end, which the check in employee told me about at check in so I prepared, but the transaction was odd. He wasn't mean, but when it came to the wifi his response was, "You didn't do it right." Obviously I didn't or the charges wouldn't be there... I feel a more appropriate response would be to apologize for the confusing login, as in certain I'm neither the first nor last who will be confused about this. I'm certain that telling the guest they messed up is not the first step to resolution here. I'm not upset about it, just striked me as an odd response. However, it was complimentary and he did refund without questioning it so there's that. They were not "unfriendly" by any means but there has to be a better way to handle such things. Overall, it was a great stay, I would book it again in...
