I loved staying at this bed and breakfast. The couple couldn't be any sweeter! Wendy is a woman of knowledge when it comes to the history of the house, the train, and the town. She's also an incredible cook and has a great cookbook, very limited edition, if you're lucky enough to get one (which I definitely did and she personalized it). I really enjoyed the room we stayed in, and her attention to detail in each room truly brings you back in time as each room is well decorated with incredible antique pieces. She has a little library upstairs filled with books about their travels as a couple, about the history of the town and its people, and biographies of very famous people. You'll be greeted with delicious chocolates and cookies and the rooms are very clean. We got a great night's rest as the bed and pillows were very comfortable. If you stay for a meal you'll be treated like family and get to enjoy one of the delicious recipes from her cookbook. We had the Santa Fe breakfast, absolutely delicious and filling, great choice if you like a protein packed and flavorful start to your day. Great location in town, too. Even though it's right across the train depot, it is a nice and quiet place to relax. I appreciated the experience of sharing their space and would choose to stay at this bed and...
Read moreWe were riding the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad and needed a hotel as close as possible to be able to take early and late photographs without much travel restrictions. Little did we realise just how many photos we would take in and around the hotel! It's so photogenic both inside and outside. Wendy and Bonsal (the owners) are really welcoming and literally turn their house over to their visitors. There are only three guest rooms so book early. It's well worth phoning from the UK as Wendy will totally woo you with her choices of breakfast. There are local restaurants etc. for evening meals. Subtle little touches such as wrapped chocolates on each pillow every evening set off their level of quality of care and consideration.| This period house/hotel has to be seen to be believed. It is truly and unforgettable experience which must not be missed. Easily found across the road from the Chama Depot of the C&T...
Read moreFifteen years in New Mexico and this was our 1st time on the infamous Cumbres Tolec Railroad. Shame on Us! We travelled Chama to Antonito by train and bused back to Chama. The stay at the B&B was nice but our room was just ok. The bed was too high and the in-room bath too small. My husband is 6'3" and definitely bumped elbows and hit his head in the shower and bath room, I"m 5'4" and it was too small but doable. The hosts are endearing and accommodating. House is starting to show the lack of upkeep and necessary repairs. We would definitely stop to visit but would not stay. Coffee served by the husband was great as is his player piano skills. Wendy is charming and a great cook. The town appears to be dying and that would be a shame. Please go to Chama, shop and take a ride on the train. It's a beautiful...
