We reserved a stay checking in Thursday and checking out on Sunday. Our room was on the first floor which backed up to the kitchen. The hotel has a quiet time in the rules, which is 10 PM to 6 AM. There was a lot of noise while the kitchen was being cleaned at closing time. This was very understandable. What was not understandable was all the other noises at 12 or 2 or 4 AM each of those nights. Again the hotel cannot control what people do. My problem is that I called the hotel number from my room to talk to somebody to let them know that the people above me were making a lot of noise at 2 AM. And at 4 AM. I received a message that said, "We don't answer our phone after 9 PM call back during business hours." So that left me in my room listening to noise unable to sleep and wondering where the hotel staff was. In the morning, even though we were supposed to spend the night on Saturday night, we packed up and checked out. I asked if I could have Saturday night refunded since we were leaving. The lady at the front desk was nice about it and said that she would contact the owner. I came back to the hotel eight hours later. I spoke with the same lady and she said that she couldn't get a hold of the owner but the manager on duty was available. I spoke with him and told him the whole story, and he said that his he had noticed a call on his phone but didn't answer it. However, if I had called back, it would have rolled over to his phone and he would have answered that. I asked him point blank, how was I supposed to know that? I explained that I was in my room, unable to sleep because of the noise and that I could not get ahold of anyone in the hotel left me feeling very vulnerable. He then went on to explain that. The dishwasher (person) makes a lot of noise when cleaning up and he said, "The dishwasher got "yelled at today." He did say he would contact the owner on Sunday and see what they could do. As I write this, it is Sunday evening 6 pm and have not received a call. Because of that is why I gave it only a two star rating for service. Now, i do want to say that the restaurant, the waitresses, the food, the drinks were all wonderful! The rooms are cute and historic. The bathroom was great. Lots of room in the shower. There were signs that they did a quick repair like around the outlets and left some marks. I think those details need to be cleaned up. The view outside my room was horrible. It was the back of the building with a bunch of trash junk everywhere....
Read moreWonderful paninis! I highly recommend a stop here for lunch to have a panini. We were driving through to do some fall leaf peeping and were going to stop at Subway for a sandwich. It was 10:30 and it was closed. So we headed down the road in Chama and stopped at The Rail House Inn. They could not have been nicer or more helpful. Although the kitchen was not open yet, the chef took time to whip up two paninis for us. One was a basic turkey and cheese and the other was their presto panini. We got to a picnic spot and opened our bag of to go boxes. In addition to the absolutely delicious paninis, we had a box of tortillas with a corn and bean queso dip that was a delightful surprise. Very good. When we head back to Chama, we will be eating lunch there! Be sure and stop by...
Read moreWe stayed 2 nights here and it was like walking back in time. You can tell how much love and detail was put into this place. Everything about this place was thought about with their guests best interest in place and they made the most of this historic hotel. There is a small coffee bar on the main floor with seating, a nostalgic gift shop area, the nostalgia carries over into the intimate restaurant and bar. We loved meeting new people and playing pool upstairs. They also have a patio outside with a fire pit. We would definitely come back and recommend our friends and family to come visit. Thank you for creating a one stop place to...
