We came to Chama to ride the Cumbres & Toltec. We stayed at many hotels during our almost two week trip of tourist railroads in the Southwest, but this was among the nicest. A clean room, furnished beautifully, with a comfortable bed and items like Keurig coffee and bottled water provided. There was gorgeous art in the bedroom and bathroom. The bathroom was lovely and spacious. The shower was amazing after a long day of travel. It's huge and has a ledge where you can sit down, with two shower heads that can run at the same time, one on the wall and a handheld one. We are train enthusiasts, so we asked for balcony rooms overlooking the station (they were the "Cumbres" room and the "Toltec" room). It was beautiful in the morning, with the sun coming up in the east over the forested hills and the trains in the yard. This is an amazing place to stay for anyone looking for a place in Chama, especially if you love the railroad. A couple of notes: There is no elevator, you have to take the stairs up. Also, at least when we were there, the water in Chama was not potable. You have to drink bottled water, which is provided by the hotel.

Stayed here on a getaway trip to, of course, ride the scenic Cumbres and Toltec train ride. If you love trains, stay here. The Toltec room overlooks the train depot and was just fun to watch. Beautiful view of the mountains too. Beautiful room/shower perfect for a quiet and relaxing stay. Especially loved the balcony and were able to hear the elk bugling in the early morning. Owners were very communicative which is always appreciated. Lodging exactly as described. Very clean as well. Private parking, mini fridge, wifi, and coffee bar provided. Gas fireplace as well, which we didn’t have the opportunity to use. Microwave in the hall to share with other guests. Walking distance to a couple of restaurants and coffee shops. Only downside to this room, is there is many stairs, so may be difficult if significant mobility issues. While there is other places to stay in Chama, this must be the nicest and most comfortable by far. Definitely would stay here again!

Beautiful room in the middle of the quiet little town of Chama. Self entry is easy but beware - there are stairs to climb. Nice balconies. All of the furniture is western deluxe! Comfortable bed and great shower in large bathroom. Unfortunately, drinking water needed to be boiled and there was no water left in our room (although host said there would be) so we could not make coffee in the morning. I did text them but got no reply. We drove to a gas station to buy water and left early for coffee. We go to Chama often and this would be our highest lodging recommendation.

This place is amazing! The lofts are 4 luxury rooms above the Railyard Rebel store in Chama NM. We stayed in the Cumbres room overlooking the rail yard for the Cumbres and Toltec Railway. This was the best experience. The rooms are private, you get codes to get in the building and for your room. The room codes are changed for every guest. Our room was done in deep reds and browns with a old west feel. We had the most amazing shower! The room has a small fridge, keuring and a large selection of coffee and tea. We had real coffee mugs, and glassware for cocktails and wine. Our room had a basket with sweeteners, creamers, a corkscrew, a bottle opener and a deck of cards. There is a small gas fireplace in the corner and a very comfy chair. The bathroom is well appointed with spa quality towels, shampoo, body wash and conditioner. Extra towels can be found in the closet with the ironing board, luggage rack and iron.

The bed was so cozy with10 pillows! The porch was nice with a couple of rockers and a table. Bring slippers or flip flops for standing on the porch in the cool mornings and evenings. The tile gets cold. In the hall is a community microwave, some more tea selections, a first aid kit, playing cards and a selection of coffee table books. The quiet was a welcome change from traditional "hotels". With only 4 rooms and adults only, we didn't have the hallway noise you get in bigger places.

The security was top notch with digital locks and security on the patio doors. ABSOLUTELY worth the price of the stay. We are already planning...

There are no reviews with less than an excellent rating and there is a good reason for this. The owner has two rooms (yes, that's ALL) above his shop and also lives onsite.||||When you walk into your room, you feel like you are a guest in a home. The owner gives you a full tour of all the amenities, which include snacks and drinks and the most incredible shower. The rooms are beautifully decorated in Southwest Cowboy style and some really fantastic artwork. Linens are posh and the bed was extremely comfortable.||There is a balcony that overlooks the Cumbres & Toltec railyard with comfortable chairs to sit and watch the trains and the hills. Although the railyard is right there and there is lots going on especially early in the morning, the room was very quiet. ||||We were in town to celebrate our 40th anniversary with a ride on the Cumbres & Toltec and decided to splurge on the Dancing Wolf to make it a memorable trip and that it did. We hope to return for another trip on the train and will definitely stay here again. Thanks for the great experience Jim.||||If you are going to Chama and want a truly special experience, stay here. You won't be...

Take whatever preconceptions you have about bed and breakfasts and throw them out the window, because they don't apply. Take the things you don't like about a B&B and throw them out the window as well.||The owner, Jim, has set a very high standard here. Our room was very nicely decorated in the manner of a lodge. The king size bed was very comfortable. The room was at the rear and away from the road, so it was quiet. We could sit on our balcony and watch the trains from rocking chairs. The walk-in shower was huge, with a high shower head and good water pressure. Complimentary drinks and snacks were offered. The only negative was lack of internet, so I had to use my phone as a hotspot. Otherwise, there was not one single thing to nitpick. I really dislike staying at B&Bs, for a long list of reasons. But not one of those reasons was found here. This is a first-class establishment.||Breakfast is not offered, but guests are treated to a complimentary breakfast just down the street at the Boxcar Cafe, and it was very good. Just order from the menu and enjoy. The cafe is closed on Mondays, however.||If you're staying in Chama, this is THE...
