This place is amazing! The lofts are 4 luxury rooms above the Railyard Rebel store in Chama NM. We stayed in the Cumbres room overlooking the rail yard for the Cumbres and Toltec Railway. This was the best experience. The rooms are private, you get codes to get in the building and for your room. The room codes are changed for every guest. Our room was done in deep reds and browns with a old west feel. We had the most amazing shower! The room has a small fridge, keuring and a large selection of coffee and tea. We had real coffee mugs, and glassware for cocktails and wine. Our room had a basket with sweeteners, creamers, a corkscrew, a bottle opener and a deck of cards. There is a small gas fireplace in the corner and a very comfy chair. The bathroom is well appointed with spa quality towels, shampoo, body wash and conditioner. Extra towels can be found in the closet with the ironing board, luggage rack and iron.
The bed was so cozy with10 pillows! The porch was nice with a couple of rockers and a table. Bring slippers or flip flops for standing on the porch in the cool mornings and evenings. The tile gets cold. In the hall is a community microwave, some more tea selections, a first aid kit, playing cards and a selection of coffee table books. The quiet was a welcome change from traditional "hotels". With only 4 rooms and adults only, we didn't have the hallway noise you get in bigger places.
The security was top notch with digital locks and security on the patio doors. ABSOLUTELY worth the price of the stay. We are already planning...
Read moreThere are no reviews with less than an excellent rating and there is a good reason for this. The owner has two rooms (yes, that's ALL) above his shop and also lives onsite.||||When you walk into your room, you feel like you are a guest in a home. The owner gives you a full tour of all the amenities, which include snacks and drinks and the most incredible shower. The rooms are beautifully decorated in Southwest Cowboy style and some really fantastic artwork. Linens are posh and the bed was extremely comfortable.||There is a balcony that overlooks the Cumbres & Toltec railyard with comfortable chairs to sit and watch the trains and the hills. Although the railyard is right there and there is lots going on especially early in the morning, the room was very quiet. ||||We were in town to celebrate our 40th anniversary with a ride on the Cumbres & Toltec and decided to splurge on the Dancing Wolf to make it a memorable trip and that it did. We hope to return for another trip on the train and will definitely stay here again. Thanks for the great experience Jim.||||If you are going to Chama and want a truly special experience, stay here. Read moreTake whatever preconceptions you have about bed and breakfasts and throw them out the window, because they don't apply. Take the things you don't like about a B&B and throw them out the window as well.||The owner, Jim, has set a very high standard here. Our room was very nicely decorated in the manner of a lodge. The king size bed was very comfortable. The room was at the rear and away from the road, so it was quiet. We could sit on our balcony and watch the trains from rocking chairs. The walk-in shower was huge, with a high shower head and good water pressure. Complimentary drinks and snacks were offered. The only negative was lack of internet, so I had to use my phone as a hotspot. Otherwise, there was not one single thing to nitpick. I really dislike staying at B&Bs, for a long list of reasons. But not one of those reasons was found here. This is a first-class establishment.||Breakfast is not offered, but guests are treated to a complimentary breakfast just down the street at the Boxcar Cafe, and it was very good. Just order from the menu and enjoy. The cafe is closed on Mondays, however.||If you're staying in Chama, this is THE...
