Driving through Chama we stopped at the Iron Rail Restaurant for a late lunch on our way to Pagosa Springs. The decor is vintage with outdoor seating. We were seated in 5 minutes and it wasn't long before we were ready to order. Right away we noticed they were short staffed. It took 10 minutes for someone to approach our table. We finally ordered chips with dip and 2 raspberry ice teas. That took another 10 minutes before we received it. When the chips arrived we thought to order our main meal because of the slow service. Wife and I ordered separate Panini sandwiches. Those took about 25 minutes to arrive. The sandwiches were good, not great and certainly not worth the price we paid. The historic building has been beautifully renovated, preserving its vintage charm while adding the modern comforts you actually want when traveling. The beds are some of the most comfortable Iāve ever slept in, and every corner of the property feels thoughtfully designed.
The new restaurant serves excellent paninis, and the bar crafts creative, delicious cocktails that add to the experience. Whether you're just passing through or planning a weekend getaway, the Iron Rail Inn delivers on every level. Highly recommend, this place is a hidden gem that wonāt stay...

We loved the cozy, welcoming atmosphere, and the staff made the experience even better. The cocktail menu is just as impressiveāfun, creative, and delicious. The mule is my personal favorite!
