Our swim team has stayed in this hotel for at least 10 years the last weekend in March for a large swim meet in Charlotte. The last two years windows were shattered in our vehicles over night in the parking lot. This year around 12 vehicles had their window shattered, and all of the itmes taken and gone through and they left what they didn't want at the back of the parking lot. Three vehicles in our group were part of the 12. Our kids were late for warm ups that morning, and the hotel staff were USELESS. Their night guy "Dan" that is supposed to watch the cameras apparently didn't see ANYTHING that night, but he'd be sure to watch them our last night in town. We contacted the police that arrived quickly and were wonderful, but the hotel staff did nothing to assist us. Thankfully, one of the husbands who wasn't even in town with us was able to find a WONDERFUL glass compay that came out to fix all of them by lunch time that day. This has happened two years in a row and after talking to several locals at the meet, apparently this happens in this area a lot. OH! and the best part, they charge for parking now at the hotel!!!! Knowing this happens often, you would THINK the hotel would have better security considering they charge for parking, and would have contacts for glass repair since they probably have to come quite often. They did comp our group the parking..whoopie, and those that had their windows shattered a night free, but we were told that they were going to do that for our entire group. We had to hussle to get other cars together to drive the kids to the meet so those impacted coudl stay behind for the police. The hospital has a SHUTTLE they could have taken the kids in, never offered. Never offered us ubers. It was HORRIBLE.||On top of that, the front desk is always backed up and never seems like there are people there to help. They are remodeling so there was banging going on through out the day, and the bathroom door on our room which had been remodled was so hard and loud to close and the ledge in the shower was already detatching from teh shower wall. ||Needless to say we will never go back to this hotel and Marriott should certainly do better for those that stay at this location. Absolutely...
Read moreNov 9, 2023. Charlotte Fairfield Inn. Free shuttle. I called and was told 15 minutes, then 25 minutes later the shuttle driver flew by me. I ran to catch him as he parked and he said "I made it in 10 minutes!". He didn't apologize for being late, I'm introduce himself or anything. The lobby was nice and Elysha (sp) helped me right away and was very nice. Good room. Refrigerator was cool... Not cold, but working, shower head was a bit loose, but ok..TV worked, I was able to log into YouTube, maybe Netflix, but remote was sticky, I tried to clean it, but it was still sticky. I guess it's just the material? I walked down to Jock and Jill's, great cheeseburger! Safe walk. Great, quiet night's sleep. Bed was very comfortable, not too soft, not too firm (perfect for Goldilocks, haha). The sheets and comforter where soft and the comforter had a good weight to it. Pillows were good, but I do like the hotels that have half stitched with "firm" and "soft" on pillowcases. USB charge port on clock radio didn't work, but the USB port on the phone did. In the morning, I asked Johnny at the front desk for a late checkout and a bottle of water. He graciously gave me both. BonVoy membership has its advantages, hahaha. Just kidding, Johnny would've probably done it for any guest. Shower water pressure and temperature was very good. I liked the spacious shower with glass door. Breakfast was served until 9. Very good patty turkey breakfast sausage, potatoes, cage-free scrambled eggs. Clean and comfortable eating area. My kids would've missed the hot cocoa packets that most hotels have, but they had chocolate milk offered at breakfast, that could be warmed up ;) I did miss not having a waffle or pancake maker, but they had a lot of other...
Read moreI am a Marriott Gold Elite member. 33 stays in 5 months. I work all day and drive for 4 hours to get to this hotel to stay before I fly out in the morning. The desk attendant won’t let me check in because he claims my COMPANY ISSUED Visa card that I’ve used for 3 years and for every hotel stay during that time - has a PIN number. I tell him I don’t have a PIN number and that I’ve never had a PIN number for my COMPANY credit card. I explain that he simply needs to type the info into his computer. He refuses to check me in. The manager refuses to check me in. I call the Marriott Bonvoy “customer service” number. I’m sitting in the lobby on hold for 30 minutes before I get connected to a supervisor. The supervisor tells me there is nothing they can do because it’s the hotel policy not to type in the number - I’M A GOLD MEMBER AND I’VE NOW BEEN IN THE LOBBY FOR AN HOUR AFTER I ARRIVED TRYING TO CHECK IN - the “customer service” rep says they can’t make them TYPE IN THE NUMBER and all she can do is recommend a different hotel that I can drive around to try and find at 9:30PM - I AM A GOLD ELITE MEMBER and this is the way I am treated. I don’t have a PIN so I used my personal card to check in and I’ll have to figure out how to submit the expense when I get back home. Guess it’s Holiday Inn Express from here on out - maybe if I work my way up in their rewards program they’ll actually make the major effort to type a card number into their computer so I can check into my room. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL...
