Chelsea House is a beautiful and well-maintained historical property with modern touches. It's half a block off Main Street so everything is super walkable. They have thoughtful amenities including toiletries, games, books, snacks, a guest mini fridge, and spirits from the local distillery Ugly Dog that you can sample while relaxing on the porch or in the gazebo. In June you can watch the fireflies dance in the yard and visit with neighbors passing by.
I stayed in the Holmes room which was cute and had a newly renovated bathroom with a walk in shower. The beds and pillows are super comfy and the sheets are the softest I've ever felt!
Keep in mind that older buildings are creaky and not sound-proof; if there are other guests present you will hear some noise. I stayed mid-week so it was fairly quiet. With the proximity to Main Street there is some traffic noise between 7 am and 10 pm. Beware there are train tracks a block away and the train blows its horn coming through town, there were two each night. If you are a light sleeper, ear plugs should take care of this.
Carla was wonderful! I highly recommend Chelsea House and plan to stay here again next time I'm...
Read moreI have always wanted to stay in a bed and breakfast. I am so pleased my husband and I chose this to be our first. Everything was perfect. We started out our evening sitting on the back gazebo with a glass of wine, compliments of Carla and Steve. After that we strolled around the town of Chelsea, which is our favorite town to be in. We returned to Victorian House and enjoyed sitting on the front porch until we decided to enjoy the sitting room and read some very interesting reading that is out for the guest. We then had dinner reservations at the Common Grill which were kindly made by Carla. A night of entertainment at Zou Zou's and back to the Holmes Room which was perfect. After our peaceful and comfortable night we woke up to the most amazing breakfast! Carla made so much food and it was all delicious. My husband and I did not want to leave. We will definitely be returning for more special weekends such as this. Carla and Steve are so hospital and I don't think you will find better than the Chelsea House Victorian Inn. Donna...
Read moreWhile we didn't stay the night, our visit to the Chelsea House Victorian Inn was incredibly special and deeply moving. We traveled here specifically to trace our ancestral roots, as this beautiful inn was the last place our grandfather stayed the night before his passing in 1891. Stepping inside, we could truly feel the history within its walls. The Victorian charm is impeccably preserved, offering a glimpse into a bygone era. Even without staying, the atmosphere was evocative, and we felt a profound connection to our past. It's clear that the Chelsea House Victorian Inn is more than just a place to stay; it's a piece of history lovingly maintained. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to connect with our family's past in such a significant location. If you appreciate history and beautiful architecture, or if you have a personal connection to Chelsea's past, a visit here is truly worthwhile. Thank you for preserving this wonderful piece...
