Merkel Furniture and Carpet in Chelsea is a decent store, but it didn't quite have what we were looking for on this particular visit. We're in the market for nursery furniture, specifically cribs and rocker/recliner chairs, and their selection in that area was somewhat limited. They didn't really have anything that fit our needs. However, I have to say their Stressless couch selection looked absolutely awesome! A guy can dream, right? They had some really beautiful and comfortable-looking pieces. If we were in the market for living room furniture, I'd definitely be spending more time browsing there. So, while we didn't find what we needed for the nursery, Merkel Furniture and Carpet might be worth a visit if you're looking for other types of furniture, especially Stressless pieces. Four stars overall – two stars for the nursery selection, but bumping it up to four for the impressive living room furniture.

We had a great experience purchasing our new mattress at Merkel's recently, from the knowledgeable sales staff who encouraged us to take as much time as we needed to try out all the different models of mattresses to the delivery team that did an excellent job bringing in the new mattress and removing the old mattress and all packaging material. The delivery team noticed some damage in the base and told me that they would let one of the owners know. I received a phone call shortly after from one of the owners to let me know that the base would be replaced. Now that is...

If there were a 10, I would give them that and more. Merkel's is the poster child of why more people should "shop local". We had a perceptive responsive sales lady nearly a year ago who helped us find the perfect sofa for our newly designed great room. 10 months later an issue arose and they came out immediately to check on our concern. When it became apparent that the manufacturer was not going to back up their merchandise Merkel's stepped up and stepped in! Thank you Merkels and all your associates! You will...
