Very cool sports tavern with a wide range of draft beers and open air seating towards the front of the restaurant. I went on a random Tuesday to get out of the house and watch the Cubs game. Place was about half full. I bellied up to the bar and was greeted by the bartender right away. Ordered a tall draft and also ordered the chicken little sandwich with sweet potato fries. Atmosphere was great and the staff were all friendly. My food came out of the kitchen quick and was absolutely delicious! I will definitely be back but here are a few reasons why I only gave 4 stars instead of 5: * Menu states that sandwiches come with your choice of side. I chose sweet potato fries and was never told there would be an upcharge for my side selection. *I was charged a surcharge of almost $2 as a credit card fee. I would have gladly paid cash had I known about this surcharge. It was a disappointing surprise after the additional surprise upcharge for my side. Would definitely recommend a visit here, just wish there was more transparency about additional fees and surcharges from the restaurant.

Just opened a Badass taco window for a contact less customer experience! The Korean Chicken tacos are so on point. Very flavorful! They also just opened patio street seating on division Fri-Sun Saturday and Sunday they also offer brunch! This is a fun place! I would recommend dinner before 9pm. Especially before a Thursday, Friday or Saturday. They have a classic American food menu with a scratch kitchen. It's run/owned by the onion group. Check out the bar above with the VW van. Makes for an awesome art piece and focal point of the room. This also might be one of the only places with a beer tap handle at the table. Pour your own and have a blast!

PLEASE READ: Just like many of the reviews for Hopsmith on Google and Yelp, I sadly have to report the theft that happened 2 nights ago. My friend’s phone was stolen on Saturday night within minutes of FINALLY getting upstairs. While on the dance floor, someone opened her purse, reached far down and stole her phone. They pack this place like sardines so it’s impossible to know if someone is touching you because it’s so tight or if they’re touching you to grab your possessions.

As soon as it was stolen we asked staff for help and they were useless. They basically said there’s too many people to know who did it. They clearly know this is a problem and simply do not care and aren’t taking action to prevent it. When we asked people around us, they also said they’ve had friends who also got their phones stolen at Hopsmith. The people who are doing this keep coming back for more. They take multiple phones in one night.

Ladies, if you even bother going to this place I recommend bringing a purse with a lock or just leaving anything you care about at home. People are coming here and seeking anyone with a phone and will grab it knowing they will get away with it. If you’re smart and care about your belongings, I recommend not ever coming here at all. Hopsmith, I hope you get your shit together and find some way to prevent this or at least show that you...

We were in from out of town and this was by far the worst food we have had in Chicago. Possibly one of the worst ever. The service was terrible also. When we got there no one greeted us. A waitress looked at us and said "what do you need?" We told her we wanted to eat.She said "talk to the host". No greeting from the host, she said, "where do you want to sit?" After being seated wr waited 10 minutes for our waitress. She proceeded to take all the orders on the floor befor submitting anything. We waited 10 more minutes for drinks. Through the entire meal we never got refills. The food took almost 30 minutes to arrive (which will happen when you flood the kitchen with orders). The food was terrible. Worst looming and tasting food. Part of the ingredients on my burger were missing. Waitress walked right by, i finally got her attention and told her...she forgot totally to bring out the missing items. Came back to the table and I told her to forget about it. She didn't get any refills even tbough cups were empty. Our entire meal took over 1.5 hours. It was terrible. One last complaint, who in hell charges your customers to use a credit card? If you cannot afford your CC fees as a business then you better rethink the way you do business. This is coming from someone who owns a business. Completely...

My boyfriend and I were in the area for lunch, so we decided to give this place a try based on the reviews. It was busy but not too crowded, so we were able to get seated right away at one of the window-side tables. Since it was still considered brunch time (their brunch goes until 2), we had to ask to see a regular menu, but our server brought a pair right away after getting our drink order.

I had no idea what I wanted to eat, but had finally narrowed my choices down between the sliders and the grilled cheese. Our server, without missing a beat, recommended the grilled cheese over anything else, and I was not disappointed.

Their grilled cheese measures 12" long and is filled with crisp bacon, two different cheeses, some spicy mayo and two fried eggs. In my opinion, if you're going savory, an egg always makes it taste better. Always (it should be noted that I also love eggs - that might have something to do with it)

The service was great, the food and drinks were spectacular, and our window seat provided for excellent people watching. I can't wait until I'm in the area again to sample more...
