Trip was decent this time for me personally. Came to Chicago by myself for an event and for some leisure activities. Once I arrived in the city I went to grab food at a restaurant and I was informed that you have to have a VACS card to be able to enter any entertainment or restaurant facilities! (I'm from Michigan we don't have any of those laws) didn't have a card to show but was able to get into the restaurant just because I was not informed! Luckly the hotel was also ok and didn't ask for a card. Hotel check in was very nice Jasmine the front desk lady was very cool and checked me in with no issues. Was pretty speedy, which I like👍. Hotel lobby is small there is a small sitting area but for only 5-6 people. The hotel is very clean top to bottom all staff is very nice and friendly. The hotel seems to be a more "Hip" for the young crowed but anyone obviously can stay. Hotel is well lit as well (lighting). THE ROOM! once I got up to my room it was better then I expected from what the picture showed, the blue carpet isn't that bad actually it complements the room it wasn't dirty either clean carpet! Room was spacious as well 350sqft definitely can move around. Bathroom was one of the better ones I've seen for a regular priced Chicago hotel. Was clean once again bath tub needs to be updated but other then that everything else was new....love the wallpaper throughout the place as well the both rooms wallpaper had some paint wiped on it or could be someone's finger nails scratching the paper off. Bed is very comfortable has a head board behind it, bedside tables w/ lamps and also have a docing station for iphone/ipods plugs are along the bed side (USB and regular outlet available on each side of bed above the bedside stands). Room came with a nice sized couch too right by the window which was so nice. Next big thing for me this hotel offers Netflix so you can sign into your account and watch from your hotel room on the television! Thank you!! A lot of the more expensive hotels do not have this simple feature in charge so much more for an old rundown room and no Netflix haha crazy ! Thanks Kenzie for having the Netflix all ya need now is Hulu and your winning! TV in the room was nice too 42inch fault screen newer. Overall stay I was only there for 1 night....I didn't hear many people that night which is nice...did hear doors shut at night and evening in halls because the doors they have here are really heavy and big. Even the ones in your room. That night I did hear someone's marriage end and it was all the ladies fault, she slept with her husbands friend before they got married! YIKES! I'm sure that was one messed up night for them, I was even a little upset she did that to him ha, sounded like he was a stand up guy. (This was yelling I heard in the room on the other side of the wall from my room was pretty loud though). Other then that the guest were all very nice friendly people the breakfast they have there for you there isn't good they have a few items but didn't draw me in to eat..plus eating area was SMALL...more less worth going out for breakfast unless you want a cup of cereal.
Parking: I bought the vallet parking, 71$ and you get in and out privileges all time of the day. Takes them 15min to pull your car up.
Incidental charge : The hold fee they charge is 100$ if you buy the parking it comes out of that 100$ (perfect). They also have a 15$ service fee for there customer service and it pays for the breakfast in the AM and any service they offer for free there. Overall I'd stay again the price is right. I think it's a bargain actually for what you get...a updated modern space for way less and great customer service. Even the SP parking guys are awesome guys (shout out to Michael there taking care of everyone's cars, a gentleman and a half!) They need to update tubs and fix some issues with wallpaper (just for my room atleast 527 room number) location is great! Right downtown. I recommend...
Read moreAs many others have noted, there is very limited staff available at the Kinzie. The lobby is not very welcoming. And ultimately beyond saying hello and goodbye, the staff is not interested in providing any real Customer Service. The rooms are adequately comfortable, but nothing to write home about. My couch was stained, but the bathroom seemed mostly clean. During my stay I needed to print and sign some documents and unfortunately I had limited time to do so. I hurried to the business office on the 4th floor and logged into a computer as a guest. I opened my email and got the document pulled up that I needed to print. Then I discovered that the Printer had to be accessed from a website. I followed the instructions, went to the website on the Business Center computer and ultimately got a code that I needed to input into the Printer. I entered the code, it said 3 pages to print... and then nothing. I waited and waited only to be rewarded with no papers printed and my deadline to submit them passed. Then I began to wonder where my private documents were. It was very irritating. I went down to the front desk to ask these questions, and was assisted by a gentleman named Anderson C. I had a Job Reference number which the printing website had given me and said to utilize if there was a problem, but Anderson had no clue what to do. I expressed my frustration that there was not a Printer hardwired to the Business Center computers and Anderson gave token lip service answers. He asked if I wanted him to look into where my papers had gone, and I said, "Of course." That seemed pretty obvious since I came down to the front desk for that very purpose. I also asked him to find out why they can't have a printer directly wired to the Business Center computers. I told him I missed getting this document where it needed to be in time because of this, and he said if he would've known, he would have printed it right at the desk for me. That's great, but why should I assume that their Business Center would be inadequate? I could have accomplished this minor task in any Holiday Inn Express or similar low cost hotel without any difficulty. Anderson took my room number so he could get back to me with some answers and as I was going to bed quite early I said not to call after 8 PM. He then condescendingly said he was busy as well and would "try" to get the answers by then. His attitude was not appropriate and I finally had had enough of his apathy. This conversation was taking place at 4:15 PM. He had 3 hours and 45 minutes to get an answer before my 8:00 PM request. I asked for his manager's number. If he could not get the information in 4 hours, then I would talk to the manager directly. He would not give me his manager's number, and offered his email address, which he wrote incorrectly on a piece of paper. I asked to be connected directly on one of the front desk phones, which he could dial and I would never know the mystery number. He refused. I insisted and finally he said he would call him, Abdiel Cruz, and see if he could give me his number. He left the front desk area and came back a few minutes later. He said that if my paper never printed it would self delete for some reason. I'm skeptical of the validity of this answer. He gave me a card for the manager and indicated I could leave a message for him and he would get back to me during business hours. Why wouldn't there be a manager available at 4:15 PM on a weekday? That should be an indication to everyone that this hotel does not value the Guests in any way. As many reviews point out, it is small, somewhat dirty, and nearly impossible to get a hold of somebody if things go wrong. In a quick scan I noticed multiple reviews indicating they were double charged and had to fight for weeks to get the money refunded. A complete absence of Managers and general Customer Service certainly lends credibility to these...

LOBBY, ELEVATOR, CORRIDORS Perfect balance of function & grandeur. Cleaning standards really stood out while making my way through the interior. Elevated & vibrant best describes the aesthetic after exciting the (slow~) spacious elevators. The flow isn't as intuitive as it could be & the entrance is easily congested by guests. Still, this did not detract from the overall beauty.
ROOM https://youtu.be/c5oL8QStQ8I Modern & familiar. The intimate vibe made this unit easy to settle into. Amazing furniture selection, accents, & function. Perfect for an extended stay or working couple. Underwhelming shared workspace due to a lack of ergonomic seating & features. Plenty of seating options throughout the room with convenient Side-tables for alternative working setups.
BED Quality setup. I was disappointed by the undersized pillows initially, but the fill was sufficiently dense & made up for it. Smooth poly-blend sheets, complimented by an environmentally friendly duvet, rounded-out the rest of the bedspread. Great back support provided by the Serta innerspring mattress too. Blissful sleep each night.
BATH Visually captivating from wallpaper to waste receptacle. The dimensions were huge & packed with functional amenities. I was impressed by the shower experience: a double-head setup offering soothing pressure, stable temps, & ample spray patterns. Gloss toiletries are meh, so BYOB products. Cleaning standards were inconsistent in the shower (mildew, calcium buildup, etc), while everywhere else they were exceptional -- cleaner grout lines than most hotels!
TV & ENTERTAINMENT Strong TV solution. High quality ~40" LG display on a swivel stand operated with a decent universal remote. Streaming apps, movies, & local cable are available, along with a Netflix integration. Easily accessible ports for a chromecast/google TV.
WI-FI & CELL RECEPTION Unencrypted & difficult to connect initially. Connectivity stabilized an hour later and was adequate for remote work. Cellular reception was the pits, even from 5 floors up. No more than 2 bars anywhere in the room. --Performance-- Video streaming - good Online gaming - great Video chatting - great --Nerd Stats-- 31-41 Mbps download 11-16 Mbps upload 0.4% packet loss 16 ms latency 4.41 ms jitter
FOOD & DRINK NOT Doordash friendly ⚠️ Light breakfast buffet (coffee, juice, dry food, fruit) service on each floor at, the traditional hours. Small mini fridge & K-cup coffee bar in room, but no microwave in this configuration.
NOISE Construction was annoying & started @ 8am directly outside. Generally quiet inside with respectful cleintele/guests.
LOCATION Incredibly convenient for great food, views, & people watching.
VERDICT Minus a few one-offs, I was mpressed from start to finish. I highly recommend this property & would stay here...
