After having lost my mom this past year to cancer and having to put up a battle with cancer myself, my husband wanted to do something really special for my 50th. We booked along with our little dog. They told us about the $150 fee for the pet stay. We had no problem with that. The day came and we checked in, paid the fee and signed a paper that the front desk clerk told us that it was just about the pet cleaning fee. We didn't read the paper, just signed it, we didn't receive a copy of the paper as well. Just thought it was what the clerk told us. We checked in and started to go along with our day. When we would get closer to dinner time, we would give our dog a sedative to calm him down, being that he was in a new place and we didn't want to disturb our neighboring guests. The next morning we went to the club lounge and had breakfast, we got back and saw we had a message to call the front desk. My husband called and was told that a guest complained about the dog barking and that was the extent of it. Never told us what the possible repercussions could be. On the 29th we were gifted tickets to go see the Blackhawks, we gave our little dog his sedative and even called the vet to see if we can double up on the dose, in which they said that it would be fine. The problem was that we gave the second dose a little too late. Within the hour a front desk employee, Eloy, called our phone and was telling us that a couple of guests were complaining that the dog was barking. We told him about giving the meds to the dog and they should be working soon. He told us that he will relate it to the guests. He called awhile later again and stated that he was still getting calls from the same guests and that we needed to do something about it or we were going to be responsible for the compensation that the guests were pursuing. He continued to repeat the same thing, as to what we were going to do about the situation. What were we supposed to do? Our personal car was parked where there were multiple cars parked ahead of us and were not able to get out till the game was over. I went as far as to tell my husband that I would uber to the hotel get the dog, he stated that was not an option. We had told Eloy that we would be there as soon as the game was over. The next day, we got a call from the Front Desk Manager Philipe. He told us that he was calling about the incident from the night before and that there was going to be a charge for $400 to us to compensate the complaining guests. We told him that we were not told about this being a possibility and why was this not told to us since the day the dog was barking while we were in breakfast our second day. I did mention to Phillipe if were going to compensate us for the fact that their mattresses were bad, they have flat pillows, and our floor and front atrium always smells like Snoop Dog was in the building. I continued to say that we had reservations to Pequod's and ended up canceling them because we didn't want to subject our dog to any more sedatives. We had wanted to try Travelle, didn't get to. We had Club Lounge Access and my husband and I would go in at separate times. Philipe heard us out and waived the fee in the end. What was pretty funny is that you have kids in the Club Lounge running around, the parents having their cocktails and yet no one bats an eye. Although my dog is not a service dog, he is way better behaved than these kids. Although the call from Eloy ruined our game experience and part of the stay, I have to say the people that made our stay 4 stars were Jeremy and Fidel who greeted us as we got out our car or walked in and out of the building. David in the Club Lounge was always so very kind. Julian the bartender in the lobby bar was very nice. Brandon, the security officer who always had a smile on his face. Henna, guest relations manager who always was very kind to us and has a genuine soul. You are the ones that make The Langham shine. Full review on...

I decided to surprise my wife on Valentine's day weekend with a stay at Nobu hotel followed by a stay at the Langham.

I booked a stay at the Langham using Chase Luxury Hotel and Resort collection. I booked a junior suite, hoping for an upgrade. However due to a busy weekend, I was understandably not given one.

I called the hotel to book a reservation for afternoon tea with Wedgewood. I also separately ordered a set of macaroons at check in and and a cake at check out.

Michelle Cheung from the Private Kitchen reached out to me in advance to confirm the tea choices and dietary restrictions. She accurately captured all the dietary preferences and customized the afternoon tea menu accordingly. Very impressive.

On the day of check-in, we got to the hotel and were impressed by its decor. Check-in experience wasn't that great. The person behind the reception desk appeared to be not as friendly or warm. Check out experience was not too far from that. But it's OK. Front desk folks must be tired of showing their warmth to all the guests on an 80% occupancy day. We were given a couple of water bottles upon arrival. Thanks!

We then proceeded to our junior suite and my wife was really excited to see it! It was large, with floor to ceiling windows on two sides, views were OK. It had a bit of a dated feel to it, but I was happy as my wife was happy.

The macaroons weren't placed in the room prior to our arrival, as I had requested, but I made a quick phone call to the kitchen and they showed up shortly after.

Due to Pandemic related dine-in restrictions, the only option was to have afternoon tea in the privacy of our room. It turned out to be a very good experience as we were able to enjoy it in the with zero pressure and were able to pace ourselves and enjoy every single thing. My wife said it was one of the best afternoon tea that she had (other top choices include Peninsula and The Allis -if you were wondering). The private kitchen staff brought a roll-away dining table into the room and set it up for us - that was really nice!!

For dinner we ordered pasta and chips+Guac. I did not particularly enjoy either of them given how full we were. We did get complementary chocolate covered strawberries, which we did enjoy.

Next morning we went to the chuan spa for a couple's massage. Before we left the room, I placed order for breakfast to be delivered closer to our estimated time of return.

It is advised to get to your Spa appointment 15-30 minutes in advance so you can get a tour, enjoy the facilities, etc. We were scheduled at the time the spa opens, so we weren't actually able to go to the Spa prior to the appointment start time using our key cards but someone in security helped us out.

The massage was fantastic. We also bought some products from them. Additionally, we were able to enjoy the pool (we couldn't do so at Nobu the day prior as it was a bit crowded). The relaxation area was nice and the hosts in the Spa were very informative and warm. There were some light snacks were also available. Some areas of the Spa were closed off due to the pandemic.

We returned to our room to find another roll away table with hotbox underneath with our breakfast in it. We set it up ourselves but we really enjoyed all that was provided.

After finishing the meal, Michelle brought the cake, which also had a note I had asked them to write for me for my wife. The cake was delicious but since we were full from the breakfast, we took it home.

To conclude, 5 stars for the hotel's kitchen staff, 5 stars for the hotel decor, 4 stars for the front desk staff at check in/check out, and 5 stars for the Spa staff, area, and services. Special shout out to Michelle Cheung and her colleagues for a spectacular service. Overall a 5 star stay. Looking forward to go back there.

P.s. We did have someone knock on our door at 3.a.m. (some drunk lady). But that wasn't hotel's fault. Chuan Spa gave us a discount on our purchase for the...

I am ELATED to write this glowing 5-star review for this 5-star hotel after having the pleasure of visiting twice over the past 6 months (and with my next visit already booked for February)! Words truly cannot express how special of a place The Langham, Chicago has become to me and my family of three. While we are locals and live only 10 minutes down the street, we have chosen The Langham, Chicago as our staycation destination and HIGHLY recommend others do the same!

From the spacious and luxurious rooms and amenities, to the super sweet and speedy service, and everything in between - The Langham, Chicago checks all of the boxes and more. The bed & breakfast package never disappoints - we always look forward to indulging in the Grand Pastry Basket and our other favorite breakfast items from the comfort of our room. Our toddler spends hours at the stunning indoor pool, and always leaves our staycations asking when we can return again.

Aside from the reasons listed above, the primary reason for our newfound obsession with The Langham, Chicago boils down to one single person - Henna Khemani.

Henna is a unicorn in this industry. She is the queen of surprises, with the biggest heart and warmest soul. Her position at the hotel may be "Guest Relations Manager" but to us, she is so much more than that - She is an experience planner, memory maker and honestly now "family."

Given that my husband and I are transplants from the East Coast, we had typically celebrated holidays and milestones with our toddler quietly and intimately, with no family close by. However, that was all about to change since meeting Henna:

Father's Day in June 2024: Henna knocked our socks off this 1st staycation at the hotel. She had gone out of her way to set up Paddington gifts and decor for my son, sweets for my husband and even a framed family photo on our desk (cue the waterworks) 3rd Birthday in November 2024: Henna and I worked closely together for 5 months to plan the most epic 3rd birthday celebration/staycation for my son just this past weekend. She had surpassed my wildest expectations and set up construction-themed decor and gifts in our stunning suite, complete with dress-up clothes, custom shirt, transporter truck and more. Within a few minutes of settling in, our doorbell rang and we were delighted with a birthday amenity from Henna! Shortly after, I met up with Henna in the Cinema Suite on the 12th floor to set up for a cozy 12-person movie night. To my surprise, Henna had prepared construction themed goodie bags for our guests and helped me set up the rest of the room to my liking. She stayed with us at the beginning to ensure all of the food we had pre-ordered was delivered, and made herself available for anything we needed.

Luckily, we were able to run into Henna a couple more times in the lobby throughout our stay to exchange hugs and words of gratitude, but no review or amount of hugs could truly express to Henna how much joy and magic she created for my family this year.

It is no doubt that The Langham, Chicago is ranked #1 in Chicago and in Illinois, and top 3 in the whole country - with impeccable service from the moment you pull up (bell men) to when you walk in (front desk/concierge) and when you (sadly) depart (in room dining and housekeeping), coupled with the rarest gem named Henna - this hotel is superior than the rest. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to Henna and the entire staff for making the decision SO easy to celebrate any and every occasion with you all. Thank you for feeling like family of our own, and for making The Langham, Chicago our home...
