I would not recommend the College Park Marriott Hotel & Conference Center to ANYONE! We have had several disappointing stays at this hotel and decided to give it one last try. On the day prior to our stay we received an email that as a Gold Elite Member I had received an upgrade to a King sized suite with a pullout bed. I knew that renovations were being done at the hotel but assumed the whole hotel was completed by now. We arrived at about 10:30pm at night and were tired from a 3 hour car ride and when I received the keys from the front desk they again reiterated that as a Gold Elite Member I was being upgraded. The room was in another building and as we went down the hallway it smelled like ammonia as my wife said she did not like the smell. When we got in the room, it was clear that it was not newly renovated as their were stains on the carpet and couches, scratches on the furniture and the bathroom was next to the be and was all frosted glass so that if someone got up in the middle of the night, the whole sleeping area lit up. We were very tired so we just went to sleep. The next day we spent all day in Washington, DC and when we came back it was already 9:00pm. I was talking with my wife, when she suddenly shrieked that there was a huge ROACH crawling on the ceiling vent. I killed it with a towel and took pictures of it. We immediately had our room switched to the new building and demanded that the night stay be credited. The new room was nice, however, it was a connecting room and it was done so poorly that light came in from under the door for the room next to us. I took a picture of that too. When I went to take a shower, I let the hot water run for 5 minutes and there was none. I went downstairs and complained again and the staff was less than sympathetic. They wanted to send an engineer to our room but my wife was still in bed. I am not sure why an engineer was needed but by the time I got upstairs the hot water was miraculously fixed. I also received a letter from the assistant manager apologizing for the incident and only referring to the ROACH, as "the incident". This hotel is poorly run and increases the price for guests by the weekend. DO NOT...
Read moreI checked in on a Thurday. My daughter and I went to take a shower that evening and there was no hot water. We left it running for over 20 minutes and still no hot water. I called the front desk and they were going to send someone up who never showed. We had dinner plans (without showering) so my assumption was that it would be fixed while we were gone. When we got back, the water still could not get hot. I called the front desk again and they sent someone up. We had guys coming in and out of our room until 11:20pm at night. My daughter had fallen asleep and the verdict was that they needed a part they couldn't get. The maintenance man told me he could keep the water as it or have it turned to full hot water but we wouldn't be able to turn down. Of course I did not want my daughter burning her skin, so it stayed with no hot water. The next day, I called down to the front desk and no one answered for over a half an hour, so I went downstairs to find out what was going on as we would like to shower. They told me they still didn't have a part and could move our room, so my daughter and I fully moved everything from one room to the next. Now we were unpacked in the next room and I checked the hot water and it did work, so I thought we were ok. My daughter used the bathroom and the toilet wouldn't flush. I called downstairs and they said they would send someone to fix it. I told them we were going to breakfast and they could come in and fix it. After breakfast, we went back to the room and the toilet still did not work. We had to go to the lobby to use a bathroom. We left once again for many hours and once returned, the bathroom was fixed.
We like to stay at Marriott's a lot and think there should be some sort of protocol for checking rooms about before giving them to guests. It was a disappointment. I am a Marriotts Reward member and was turned off by the lack of empathy from your staff. Also, Meny, the bartended was very rude to our group. He did not have drinks in stock that were on the menu and said they would not come in for 4 days. The bar was not packed and he should have been able to be a thoughtful bartender representing the...
Long story short the front desk was wonderful upon check in. Upon inspecting our room I noticed that the sheets had some stains on them and I contacted the front desk who I could not hear because the phone was having issues, so I had to call on my cellphone. Front desk immediately sent someone up from housekeeping and for someone to check the phone. The gentleman for the phone was nice and fixed the cord on the phone. Housekeeping on the other hand stomped her way in the room behind him and started to throw the pillows off of the bed to change the sheets without a word. Someone else from housekeeping came in and helped her, as they finished putting on the sheets the rude housekeeper starts to pick up the pillows off of the floor to put back on the bed. I asked her if she could now change the pillowcases because she threw them on the dirty floor. I then hear the women in the hall whispering and when they came back in started to speak in another language. Then they started changing the same sheets over and over again for about a total of 5 times, which I think they were trying to be funny by looking for tiny spots on the sheets. Finally they left, but then we get a knock on the door as I am in the bathroom and my husband is sleep. Before I could get to the door they are opening it up with their key luckily I had the extra lock on it or else they would have hit me. The housekeeper left the remote from another room and ours and rushed passed me to get it and leave out with a word. But wait there is more the same housekeepers attempted to come into our room again the next day without announcing themselves this was getting pretty ridiculous. All in all I would never stay here again, they made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unwanted there. This was my first time in Maryland and at the Marriott I have stayed at better places for less. Be careful and put all of the locks on the door. Lacks a pool, microwave and...
