First time at a Hyatt property as an adult, and it is an experience I will not soon forget.
First impressions, go a long way. And the first team members I met impressed me greatly.
Vernon, the shuttle driver, that provided a lift from the airport to the hotel was nice.
Claudia, the front desk attendant was friendly, helpful, and informative. She really made me feel welcomed and positive about my choice to select this hotel among the close to twenty options in the vicinity of the airport.
The room was immaculate.
For the pros
The T.V. is in the center of the room on a swivel stand. So that you can watch television from the sofa, or the bed.
Compared to some other 3 star options, like the Hampton Inn & Suites I stayed at last night, this room has a nice living space. It has a L shaped semi-sectional sofa vs. the singe chair at the Hampton Inn & Suites.
Shower head is nice. No tub for my room. You'd want to call and inquire about a tub if that's a bathing style preference.
Very close to the airport, which is important if you don't have transportation, because you can take the shuttle to the airport to eat.
They have a Starbucks near the front counter, but it does have a smaller menu.
Free continental breakfast until the end of October 2018. From my understanding, after that date, you'll need to be a World of Hyatt rewards member to get free continental breakfast. This is a no-brainer because joining is free. You can sign-up yourself through Hyatts website in about 2 minutes. Or the front desk can register you.
For the cons
I don't need much closet space. Indeed, four hangers will do. However, it's my thought that the closet should be spacious enough to easily slide hangers on the rack and move closes in and out of the closet. If all rooms have a similar closet, then be prepared to see a closet with a narrow space between the sliding door and the closet wall. It's so cramped you'll probably see that other guest have left scratch marks on the wall trying to remove hangers.
Not as important, but there are only two restaurants within walking distance. One being Burger Theory, and the other being Ruby Tuesday.
In conclusion, this was my first stay at a Hyatt property, I strongly doubt...
Read moreTV was full of static and snow. We had no clear channels the entire stay. We switched rooms 3 times. The TV didn't work in the first 2 rooms. Door didn't lock in 2nd room. Carpet nasty and stained in the 3rd room had to keep our shoes on. Hotel had dirty curtains that didn't close well in 3rd room. Furniture old, smelly, and dirty. Nasty dirty popcorn ceilings. Remote was nasty. Phones were disgusting and nasty in all rooms. Low ceiling in shower with mold on shower curtain in 3rd room. Toilet ran continuously in 1st room. Toilet in 3rd room had no pressure, had to constantly flush 2 or more times. Heard terrible airplane noise each night. We got no sleep each night, just told to get some ear plugs. They had no towels at the hotel one night. Then most towels are old, stained, and worn out. Bed linen not clean full of nasty stains. The heating froze us instead of putting out heat. Had to turn it to 80 to get heat, which is entirely too hot. Hotel charges a ridiculous 12.95 per night to park in a basic hotel parking lot. It didn't have enough spots and no reason to pay that amount when we are in College park not downtown Atl. Breakfast was good but should end at 10 am not 9am. Its to many people in the hotel to give 3hrs to get to Breakfast. Elevators are old and slow. I wish the owner of this nasty hotel was made to live in this filthy hotel daily to see the conditions the guest stay in They need to renovate immediately, this place was the worst stay in my life. This Hyatt location is in shambles. It's a Motel 6 with a Hyatt sign on the outside. The hotel staff is extremely nice and need raises. This hotel poorly represents the brand. I don't think I will ever stay at the Hyatt again my entire stay was traumatizing with my family. Please don't make anyone suffer for this many days again. Hyatt use to be my favorite hotel, now no longer. The hotel rating should get changed to a 1 star. The owner doesn't care, I was never...
Read moreI am a road warrior and a Globalist with Hyatt as well as a top tier with other major hotel loyalty programs. I was aware that the hotel was under renovation. When I checked in, I was given a newly renovated room on the 6th floor. While the rooms are essentially semi-renovated (lots of the very old-style Hyatt place present like bathroom, sink/vanity, bed headboard and kitchenette cabinet/sink, but new style carpet and sofa + desk as well as tv) they are acceptable and still nice, and I didn’t have an issue with some old cabinetry and furniture being reused in their “remodel.” No issue with the hotel being under construction, no issue with the semi-remodeled rooms. However, just as lots of other reviews mention, cleanliness was very lacking and very simple things were left lackluster and unattended to. After checking into the room, despite it being a renovated room, I found cat kibble all over the carpet as well as m&m’s. All that would have taken was a simple 2-3min vacuum. In the morning, breakfast area was missing tongs everywhere. Had to literally grab a bagel by hand, as well as fruit. Milk options were not labeled at all, although I am already familiar with oat milk and regular milk colors at Hyatt place’s. Lots of other things typically present at breakfast are not there… such as tea. Immediately after breakfast, I had sores break out in my mouth. Don’t know if it’s the staff that is performing poorly or if it is management, or potentially both. But such deficiencies to me were unacceptable given how easily they can be attended to and that’s the reason for my rating. If they don’t care to attend to such simple things, I can only imagine what “more” goes on that I didn’t see in the back of that breakfast room in terms of cleanliness… honestly unacceptable. Had it not been for that I would have probably given the property at least 4 stars. There is lots of noise from planes constantly taking off in case you are a...
