My husband is a bilateral amputee. We need an accessible room. Two years ago we stayed in a Holiday Inn Express in Pittsburgh. it was the end of COVID. we couldn't find a room anywhere else. The accessible rooms were under repair. We slept in a room on the first floor and toileted and bathed in a room on the third floor. For the inconvenience they gave us points. On our way home we had reserved an accessible room at the Two Notch Holiday Inn Express. I called the front desk of the hotel and verified we had an accessible room. When we arrived they had given our room to someone else. We cancelled. They told us that they would be nice and not charge us for cancelling at that time. We went to another chain who welcomed us. Now two years later we were going to Pittsburgh again and will be going again in 6 months so I thought we will use the points and save a little. Again I made reservations for a roll in accessible room. Again I called the front desk and verified the rollin accessible room. I checked in to our roll in accessible room while we were enroute. When we arrived they had given our room to someone else. The guy at the front desk kept saying Well we only have one. I wanted to leave but the guy said all our rooms are accessible and I will put in a shower bench. My husband said we would stay. When we got in the room it was in no way accessible. The opening to the bathroom was wide enough but the beautiful barn door cam out 10 inches. My husbands wheelchair wouldn't fit through the bathroom door. There were no grab bars and the toilet was maybe thirteen inches off the floor. There was no handheld so if he was to shower he would have to sit with the water pouring over him with no way to soap up and the soap was permanently mounted on the back wall so no way to reach it from there. The bed was so high he couldn't transfer into the bed. We could either move the coffee table to the side of the bed and he could crawl out and in to the bathroom on his hands and knees, he could wear his legs all night which causes blistering and would put him in the wheel chair for the balance of the trip or he could get dressed and go to the public restroom. I called customer service. They offered me points for the inconvenience. Why would I take points for a room we cannot use that we were staying on points for the hellacious experience before. Then they said they couldn't help me to contact customer affairs. Now I can't contact anyone because U have to contact the front desk for the bill and in the complaint page it doesn't recognize it because it was a past stay. As I started this Never again. I have advised friends of what we experience and will post on social media and the ADA sight and Disabled...

My recent stay at the Holiday Inn on Two Notch Rd in Columbia, SC was nothing short of disappointing and frustrating. I checked into room 410 on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2024, with hopes of a comfortable stay during my visit for my nephew’s graduation at Fort Jackson. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory.
Upon entering the room, I immediately noticed that the bathroom door did not close properly, which was particularly inconvenient since I was sharing the room. This issue persisted throughout my stay, making privacy and comfort elusive.
The next unpleasant surprise came during my shower, where I found that the water was leaking onto the bathroom floor, despite my efforts to keep it dry with extra towels. This not only created a mess but also added unnecessary hassle to my routine.
To make matters worse, the bed I slept in was located near the PTAC unit by the window and was incredibly uncomfortable. The mattress had a noticeable sag in the middle, which caused me considerable discomfort and resulted in a sleepless night. As someone with back problems, this exacerbated my condition, leaving me in pain when I woke up the next morning.
As a loyal IHG member, I expected a much higher standard of accommodation from Holiday Inn, and this experience fell far short of that expectation. This is by far the worst experience I have encountered at any Holiday Inn property.
The disappointments continued into the morning when I went downstairs for breakfast. I was shocked to find the public restroom in an appalling state of cleanliness, with visible feces around the commode. When I brought this to the attention of the gentleman at the front desk, his response was equally disappointing—he informed me that there was no houseman available to address the issue promptly.
Given the magnitude of these issues, I am requesting that someone from upper management reach out to me at their earliest convenience. My contact information is readily available in their folio.
In conclusion, I regret to say that I will never choose to stay at this particular Holiday Inn location again. The combination of uncomfortable accommodations, poor room maintenance, and subpar cleanliness standards has left a lasting negative impression. For anyone considering a stay here, I strongly advise reconsidering your options to avoid similar...
Read moreI was driving from Orlando to Greensboro and wanted to stop somewhere along the way. I was going to drive to just north of Charlotte, but due to a front forecast to move through the area on the afternoon in question, I decided to stay on the north side of Columbia and drive more the next day when it was to be dry but cooler. It was a good decision as the rain and winds started about 30 minutes after I arrived here. This is a new Holiday Inn Express, as of 1st of December 2017, I believe. I arrived just before 3 pm, and my room was ready and waiting. I had booked an Executive King (it was the same price as the regular sized king so easy choice). The room was very well done with tile floor except some carpet around the very high bed. I almost needed a stepladder to get in and out of bed. There was a broken spring, and each I got in, it made a clang! I still got a great sleep on a very comfortable bed with crisp sheets and a soft cover. The TV was in front of the bed and didn’t rotate so a little neck bending to watch from sofa. There was an area with sofa and coffee table. There was a Keurig coffee station. I just took pods for home later and drank the coffee in the lobby! Bathroom was efficient and clean with stand-up shower (only issue was door wouldn’t stay open so had to hold door while I got in with my supplies and again had to hold when I reached for my towel or it would cut me off!). There were the good Holiday Inn Express amenities as well. My view was of the steakhouse and Waffle House to the east. The ladies at check-in were friendly but need a little training on what to say to “Spire” and other status members. I felt like they were talking to me as if I were a child and not an experienced traveler. They weren’t rude..just a tad condescending! I got my welcome points before the next morning. Breakfast was good enough that I didn’t have to go elsewhere but not as good as others of the same brand. They had a cheese omelet and turkey sausage although I passed on the sausage since it was Lenten Friday. Most now have egg white veggie omelets as standard item. They had 3 TV’s (weather channel in food area with MSNBC and Fox News in eating area). Unfortunately, the Fox was the one with the volume on! I am giving a 4 because there were a few minor issues as mentioned. I think this 3 month old Holiday Inn Express has great potential and should be one of the best in the...
