I have mixed feelings about this hotel. On one hand the size of the room was great, air worked very well, nice refrigerator, sink area. The lobby had a nice common area to rest or do computer work. There was always coffee available in the lobby when you needed it. On the other hand I originally booked a two queen bed suite and it was changed to a one bedroom king suite. While the extra space was very nice my son slept on the pull out sofa which is no big deal but didn’t look very clean or comfortable. We also had to request bedding for the sofa since housekeeping didn’t leave any. One front desk staffer was not that nice and upon arrival of our room the television in the living room didn’t work. So I went to the front desk and instead of sending someone up to look at it she went into all these different things I could try to do to fix and if that didn’t work then maintenance could come the next morning. So after several tries my husband finally got it reset and it started working. The door going into our bedroom wouldn’t stay open unless you open it all the way. If you didn’t it slammed shut very loudly. There is also a fire alarm with a flashing light that blinks every few seconds at night above the tv in the bedroom. That was a little irritating. The light in the bathroom blinked constantly. The floor in the bathroom had black skid marks from shoes I guess that had not been mopped. The black out shades were very nice instead of curtains and lots of space drawers to put things. For space and storage I definitely would give a 5 star rating. Breakfast was subpar at best. It was healthy options but not very tasty and they didn’t keep it picked up and clean. One morning the oatmeal was completely stuck together and dried up. They only serve until 9 during the week so one morning we didn’t get down until around 8:35 and the waffle batter was gone and no one to ask for any. Seemed like the staff was always in the back and hard to find. Our room also had a smokey/dusty smell upon arrival. It got better the longer we stayed so maybe coming from an old vacuum cleaner. All the staff was nice except one. Looked clean throughout. If you want the extra room and don’t care about breakfast and maybe little things wrong with the room try this hotel. It seemed ALL the doors slammed shut at this hotel. They also don’t replenish towels so you have to ask for things when you run out. Some hotels like Comfort Suites have started coming by each day asking if you need anything. There is a nice sitting area outside with afire pit if you want to use it and my husband liked the gym. I’m not saying I wouldn’t stay here again but the price would have to be right. The room size...
Read moreIt was pretty clean. There were more "home" like amenities including plates, cups, coffee mugs, full refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, and sink in the little kitchen area. We stayed in the corner suite, which was very spacious. The check in attendant was very friendly.
The rest of the service on the other hand was not that great. The attendants after the initial check in were not very hospitable. We requested a few items, i.e. toilet paper, and never received it from them. She blamed it on the housekeeping staff saying some of them did not speak English very well. Regardless of who was at fault, she should not be placing blame on others, or talking down on them to guests. Take responsibility yourself or on behalf of the hotel, but don't blame others. These are coworkers, and from our perspective, they did their job very well.
The breakfast was the worst breakfast we have ever had at a hotel, and we have been to several hotels with included breakfast. My recommendation if you stay for breakfast is either a peanut butter sandwich or a bagel with cream cheese. Don't bother with the waffles, the eggs, or the breakfast sandwiches. The first morning I tried to make a waffle and the waffle maker needed sprayed, I asked the front desk person for spray, and I was basically ignored (the same person who did not get us the toilet paper we asked for). The coffee was pretty good.
The hotel was kind of noisy. Both nights we stayed, a garbage truck showed up at 7:45 in the morning dumping the big metal trash bins into their truck, then kept backing up with their trucks beeping. It is also right off of I-65, so when the air conditioner would shut off, you could hear all of the cars passing on the interstate.
At check out, it was a mess. I paid for our stay on their website when I booked the room. When we were checking out, she had to get her manager, who worked in a different hotel building, to come over and check us out. For some reason she was not able to do it.
If you are simply looking for a clean hotel to stay at for a night, this hotel would probably be okay. It was pretty clean. But if you are looking for a relaxing vacation stay, where you don't have to worry about running out of toilet paper, it may not be the...
Read moreI was blown away with the personal service I got in Columbus Indiana. They were sincerely interested in making my stay enjoyable. I was traveling alone with my dog to visit my son. His work schedule is very busy so my window opportunity to see him was limited. Twenty minutes into our visit I got a call from the hotel saying that my puppy was barking. Front desk Rachelle, recognizing my time limit with my son, volunteered to take care of my dog for me! When I got back to the hotel there was the kennel behind the front desk with a happy puppy. I heard not one negative comment from employees or guests. Rachelle was understanding, took charge, and made what could have been a horrible experience, very pleasant. That is one of many things that made my stay a 5 star. The outside of the hotel is pristine. Although it backs up to Hwy I65, the grounds are so clean and well maintained it doesn't matter. The welcoming fire pit was always turned on. I will return to Columbus. On the contrary, I stayed at Home 2 in Bloomington for one night. I was greeted with a three page form to fill out regarding the dog. I was tired from a long day, and the front desk was not engaged with me as a person. I felt like I was intruding "Those are the rules", was the comment I got just 1 minute into my stay. When I inquired about where to walk the dog, I was told "go anywhere outside." When I did go for the walk I found dog waste everywhere. There was an obvious yard on the side of the hotel, that even had a waste bag station available. Much better place then letting your dog go in the entryway garden. I found myself with a little extra time and wanted to sit by the fire pit. It was NOT on and I never saw the welcoming flames. Although they are convenient to the campus, the outside grounds of the hotel were a turn off, and the attitude of the employees was a turn off on the inside. Very much a contrast...
