Waffle House — Restaurant in Columbus

4/22/17- this place reuses condiments "not opened" and then places them back onto the plates since the cooks need to use them as a guide to know what food goes on what plate. I asked for nothing to be placed on my plate but was told we need to. I said I don't use them and don't want them - she said "we will see what we can do" which is code for FU buddy.

Original review - Staff was super friendly, although for not being busy the place was dirty. This isn't uncommon but what really bothered me was the handling of a T-bone stake for another customer.

The cook (older short man) took the stake out of the cooler, opened it "without gloves" then handled the meat with his bare hands. This wasn't the problem - the heat from cooking would kill any bacteria off.

The problem was he didn't wash his hands then started handling the utensils while preparing other food, touching the plates, even the condiments.

The cook continued to work for 4 min then decided to put gloves on, not after he washed his hands - he NEVER did that. Luckily I had a waffle and he was wearing gloves when preparing our food.

Eating here is always "good" provided the staff has taken the time to clean and the cooks are also sanitary. You know the risks when eating at a place like this. Rule of thumb, if the windows are dirty more than likely everything...

A few yrs ago I did a bad review for this location. Yesterday I thought about giving them another shot. And I'm so glad I did. Yesterday it was myself and two kids the woman ( didn't catch her name so please forgive me. roughly 6 pm march 3rd )was so kind even joked round with my kids made us feel at home if that makes sense. The cook was great food was fantastic. Such a great experience to the point we went back tonight. Different staff same amazing experience. The gentleman Marvin I think his name was ( it was on our ticket) did great . I don't care if he had to ask a couple of times of exactly how my youngest wanted his meal he made sure it was perfect for my very indecisive child that can be difficult when picking his food. Was there for 20 mins max got our food and check. Was talking to an old friend I hadn’t seen in a long time. When our waiter came up and ask if we needed anything else or needed to meet as at the register. We felt the pressure so we were about to leave when this dude comes up and asks if he can talk to us. Then he proceeds to say it’s my understanding that you guys have been here a while and if you could be considerate to other customers and leave. We weren’t trying to be rude and I didn’t understand why he was treating us we were. At this time there were 7 people waiting and a lot of people had been there before we had.
